That’s helpful, not -
Can’t help but saw your user name and was wondering if you were a South African - I used to live there before I emigrated to Australia.

You could always use hair removal cream

Is a protein shake a meal or snack?

I have no idea what size or what shape my pouch is. My thoughts are that our surgeons have studied for a long time and have done these ops multiple times so they know what they are doing and what works best. Education is good and knowing what an op involves is good but we need to be careful we don’t take that too far and try to second guess our surgeon. Trust your surgeon, don’t stress too much about the specifics and have faith that he or she will do what works best for you.

Horrific GERD related chest pain
elcee replied to KishaG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are you doing. I am 9 months post OP and have been having violent hiccups and burps all day. Had silent reflux symptoms last night and most of the day too. Not happy, I thought this was fixed. -
This is gorgeous, so stylish and classic.

Thanks. The skirt is a favourite that I picked up years ago at a charity shop.

what are the most common reasons people get their band removed?
elcee replied to BQT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Regain. Slippage Reflux Erosion Poor diet Oesophageal failure My surgeon told me that the average life span is approx 10 years. That eventually they all fail or cause issues. One of the disturbing things they are finding is the increase in oesophageal failure caused by the oesophagus having to work so hard to push food through. Also years of reflux can lead to cancer. -
BTW I am in the same sort of position as you but I figure it will stop at some point. My loss is very slow now, a couple of 100grams every month or so. The fear is that if I add in too much food I will start regaining which I don't really want to do.

Its a bonus in summer, no more chub rub

What are boobs? I don't have any either nor a butt and I have super skinny legs!

I haven't misunderstood , I was just highlighting that when a person thinks about various possibilities in their mind the mind has a habit of selecting the worst possible scenario. I myself have done that many times when I have had blood tests and the Dr has called me back in, I find i always think its something awful and it tends to be something as simple as low iron ( which they could have told me over the phone). Good luck at your app, let us know what the Doc says

I have just run your numbers through a BMI calc ( yes I know some people hate them) and according to that your BMI is 21.1 which is still well within the healthy range. Therefore I wouldn’t stress too much at this point. I would suggest adding back in healthy fats. Things likes nuts, seeds and avocados. Also use higher fat versions of dairy. I often think that people worry that they are too skinny when they are in fact healthy because these days we are more used to seeing overweight people .

Stricture, TPN, Wound Vac... what next?
elcee replied to bajankat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow that’s a heap of bad stuff all in one go. Hopefully it’s all behind you now and you can move forward into a new healthy life -
I would avoid trying to figure it out yourself otherwise in your mind you might end up 6ft under pushing up daisies. Best to make a Dr app and go and find out from a professional

Traveling immediately after discharge?
elcee replied to JRT Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You certainly shouldn’t be driving yourself and I don’t even think you should be doing the trip at that point. There is too much risk of complications such as a clot. Surely you can arrange to stay somewhere close to your medical team for a couple of days, it may cost money but it should be worth it for peace of mind -
Is it true that your body gets used to a low cal diet?
elcee replied to april042019's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you are consuming less calories than you expend you lose weight If consumption and amount expent are equal you will maintain If you consume more than you expend you will gain. However it is possible that your body may become efficient at operating on a low number of calories . You may find that your metabolism is not as efficient as when you were younger. Plus as you lose weight your body needs less than when you were bigger so you may find that you will always need to be very careful of amounts consumed . -
A couple of recent outfits. Black and green floral for coffee with a friend and shopping. Vintage floral off to lunch today, thought I would channel my 1950s housewife and navy spotted top with pants I was twinning with my husband! Am loving everyone's pics, so much inspiration, everyone looks amazing. The only thing I don't love are my wrinkles and saggy neck. I cant hide those under clothes!

Large hiatal hernia discovered during gastric bypass surgery
elcee replied to Vikingfanaz10's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven’t heard of surgery being delayed for that. I know that it is fairly common for hernias to be repaired at the same time as WLS. Mine was done during my band to bypass
