Love the description

No I was never a binge eater. My problem is constant grazing. This is actually harder to "fix" with the band although the band does help a lot by taking away some of the hunger.

Very surprising NSV today!!
elcee replied to aeromech's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have had a number of occasions where neighbours didn't recognise me. -
i survived Easter lunch at my mom's house!!! yay!!!
elcee replied to str1349's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well done to you for sticking to your plan. Not sure why you didn't just eat some of your Mum's food. A slice or 2 of meat, some peas, salad and a small spoon of mash (so long as you are not low carbing) would have been fine. -
Can You Please Help Me Get Back On Track :-(
elcee replied to John Picone's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow , cannot believe that in all that time you only went for 1 fill. Sounds as though you weren't ready to commit to the process. There are all sorts of theories out there as to what the best diet is, some eat normally, others eat low carb etc. The best thing to do is speak to your Dr to see what he recommends . Also try to get an appointment with a dietician so that an individual plan can be worked out for you. A lot of people have a lot of success logging every morsel that they eat on a site such as my fitnss pal. This can help you to stay on track as it is easy to eat too many calories without even realising. Follow the band rules . And don't forget you also need to exercise. That can make a huge difference. Congratulations on recommiting, and best wishes that this time you will make it successful. -
what's your post fill instructions? my doc is really vauge!! ugh
elcee replied to str1349's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stick to liquids for the rest of the day and then progress slowly after that. Just important to listen to your body and what it can and can't handle. -
You don't really need a special cookbook. You should be able to eat normal healthy food.

What does stuck feel like?
elcee replied to Sandilee0210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is highly unlikely that you will go through life as a bandster without ever getting stuck. Don't worry about it too much. When it happens it happens and you will get through it. The worst thing you can do is allow your fear to dictate your food choices as then you are likely to limit the range of healthy foods that you eat. -
What does stuck feel like?
elcee replied to Sandilee0210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first time it feels like you are having a heart attack . The other description(from a previous member) that I really like is that you are a vampire and that you have just had a stake through your heart. -
that's a hard one. Can I think about it and get back to you? LOL

It is no fun PBing in the car, and neither is pulling over to PB!

What Does "Morbid Obesity" Really Mean?
elcee replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Obesity tends to be like a snowball, it keeps on growing and it will at some point get to the MORBID stage -
What makes you think you are not there yet? Often we are in the zone without even realising it. I know when I was first banded I used to hear people talking about the sweet spot and I would wish that I would find it soon. It sounded magical. A place where you could eat a tiny portion of food and not be hungry for hours afterwards. Well the sweet spot for most does not exist or at least not in the way that many have been led to believe. Look very carefully at what you are doing, what you are eating etc. maybe you haven't hit the green zone yet but the possibility is that you are already there and you just haven't realised it.

I'm very confused. You have only just been banded, when did you find out you were pregnant? Generally surgery won't go ahead if you are pregnant.

Gurgling stomach still throws me for a loop..sometimes
elcee replied to Jim1967's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Sometimes it gurgles as I eat. Maybe it's saying - thanks , about time. -
do you lose more weight with...
elcee replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The plication is supposed to mimic the sleeve. That means that it should give you a big "leg up". You shouldn't go through bandster hell as it should give you immediate "restriction". Just clarify with your surgeon that you are both talking about the same thing when you discuss plication. Many surgeons refer to the way that they stitch a piece of the stomach over the band to stop it slipping as plication. -
I didn't see what was negative about this post?

That is why after a while "experienced" people tend to post less. You get very tired of typing the same thing over and over. Yes there are new people that have lots of questions but it seems people have an inability to use the search function. Often multiple threads asking the same thing are started within days or hours of each other. Can I drink and eat at the same time Why no soda I've hit a plateau etc etc
-
That's horrible. Best wishes for a full recovery.

I have a date!!! Now to decide between the band or the sleeve!
elcee replied to Food_vs_Life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing how two people can read the same stuff and interpret it completely differently. When I read the posts on the VSG site I get scared s@@tless! The complications are really horrific. They involve months in hospital, nearly dying etc. The band complications are a walk in the park in comparison. -
Anyone here have a band overe their bypass?
elcee replied to trappedinthebodyofafatgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Like most of the WLS it loses it's effectiveness after a while. I believe that the dumping often wears off after about 18 months. Many bypass patients then regain weight. I think Carnie Wilson has actually had a band over her bypass. -

There have been a few people on the site over the years. -

To compare removing gall bladders and tonsils from healthy 10 year olds with banding obese people ( remember BMI over 30 is obese) makes no sense. I am sure that the majority of people who have been banded have been struggling with their weight for a long time. They have probably tried every diet under the sun, some successfully some not and obviously they have not managed to maintain the weight loss. Every person that has got to a BMI of 40+ had a BMI of 30+ at some stage. If losing it without the band is so easy then why haven't those people done it?
