  1. Doctors always talk in averages because they cannot accurately predict who will be successful and who won't. With WlS in general there are some people that lose nothing because they don't follow the plan and they self sabotage by eating high cal sliders. Then there are people that lose all their excess weight and more. The way to ensure that you are the second type is by having the right mindset, remembering that surgery is a tool not a magic wand and putting in your very best effort.

    Severe Acid reflux

Do you have a band or a sleeve? Reflux is often a side effect of both. Your Dr will probably put you in PPIs and hopefully that will solve it although this can be an ongoing issue
  3. Thats amazing. I love hearing people's stories, they are so special
  4. I find it interesting that those on this thread that are so confident that the lapband will work again and will continue to work are those that have had the band for the shortest amount of time. I know that when I first got the band I was confident that it would work forever. If anyone ever said otherwise I closed my ears and tried to believe that it was their fault, that there was no such thing as band failure. I am sure that this reaction was because of fear. I did not want to think that I had spent all that money and gone through surgery for something that wasn't a permanent solution. Whether or not it works could all be down to definition of what you believe is working. What is your measurement and what is acceptable to you? Do you want to be at a goal that puts you in the healthy weight range? Are you happy with a goal that is outside of the generally accepted healthy guidelines but is lower than your starting weight? If I was to measure by the first then no my band is not working, if I was happy to settle for the second then maybe it is.
  5. Are we talking about the whole husband or just specific bits?
  6. At least she drank it and didn't just put it in your bottle! Although back in the day it used to be perfectly acceptable to dip a dummy/pacifier in a drop of whiskey when bub was teething. Goodness knows how we all survived!
  7. If you’ve felt the winters here a dose of antifreeze might be just what I need 😂
  8. So I live in Australia Where we have amazing beaches, the Sydney Opera House and Harbour bridge, cute fluffy animals and lots of things that are out to kill you ( sharks, salties, snakes, spiders........) But when it comes to shopping the choices we have are far more limited than somewhere like the USA. The one thing that we have hardly any of are lo calorie water flavours. There are a few kinds of lo cal cordial which are gross and Lipton Iced Tea probably sells 2 flavours but not in powder form. Other than that Diet Lime is the only real option. When I got my band I ordered Crystal Light directly from the USA and I probably need to do the same again. Just wondering if there are other alternatives that are less sweet that taste good. If they come in sachets rather than plastic tubs that would be a bonus as well as postage from there to here is horrendous. So please hit me with your recommendations and also if you have links to shops that sell online and ship internationally. Can't do Amazon as they now refuse to sell to us since they introduced the inferior, overpriced, nothing much on it Australian version! TIA
  9. Thanks but I don’t think I could afford to import bottles of water, the shipping is bad enough for small envelopes which is why I specifically need something in either a powder form or ultra concentrated drops. Drinking at home is not an issue. I am quite happy with unsweetened English breakfast tea with a splash of skinny milk. I need something that I can carry in my bag to add to water when I’m out
  10. Generally after a fill they get you to drink a whole glass of water, not in sips but drinking normally. If you can only sip water you are way too tight. Don't think it will help you lose weight it won't - you will end up dehydrated and you will also eat or drink high calorie sliders to compensate for not being able to eat real food. You may also end up with a slip and quite possibly reflux. You should go back to your Dr's ASAP
  11. I would happily do that if we had some decent options available here.
  12. I am long past the days of frequenting a place!

    Weird muscle pain?

It’s a long time since I read it but it was interesting as sometimes a persons hearts desire was not simple, if I recall correctly one of the main characters was a good person but she had crippling arthritis in her hands. Your comment about selling yours brought the book to mind!
  14. I thought that when I saw it too and then decided it must have been written on 21 August

    Loneliness

Your life may have been different but it’s not possible to go back and change the past. What you can do though is change your future. Take back control, focus on your goals and start working towards them. You can do it
  16. That was a lot of fill to put in in one go! Did they make you drink a glass of water after the fill to check that you could get it down ok? If you can’t drink without an issue the. you need an unfill

    General questions

The responses are what I expected, it seems they are an expensive, ineffective waste of time
  19. I’ll have to try and order some Crystal Light on the go from the USA and carry that. Sadly we don’t have an equivalent.
  20. I would happily order a mocktail but as far as I am aware most of them , at least here in Aus, are full of juice which of course is full of sugar. I will probably have to stick with the lime and soda although i don’t think they use the diet lime.

    Too much thirsty

If you are drinking so much that your stomach hurts then you probably need to cut back. Are you drinking too quickly? Have you tried sipping slowly?

    General questions

I have often wondered how successful these things are and how people do once they are removed. Would love to hear success stories
  23. Are there guidelines for what we can ask people to pray for? Is it OK for people to pray for someone to win the lottery or is that in the same league as praying for your football team to win?

    Pain scale for band fill

Usually my fills are quick and easy but the last one was awful. Dr struggled to get the needle in the right spot and it hurt like hell. It must be all the weight I've regained
