So according to the VET forum you can only post if you are 18 months post surgery. However when you are 9 years post surgery but awaiting a revision you can't post. This seems silly. Yes I'm a novice when it comes to RNY but I still have plenty of other useful advice . Maybe someone needs to look at changing this

Are you currently eating low or no fat items such as yogurt, milk etc? If you are then switching back to the full fat varieties could be a good place to start. You won't be eating any more and if you find you gain too much its easy to switch back again.

Phone your Dr, explain the situation and see what advice he/she gives.

Thats ok. If you are like me you look at the new or trending topics on the side and that doesnt show what forum something is in. That is how I sometimes end up commenting on something that is in the Men's room!

What surgery did you have? What stage are you at? What is on your plan that your Dr gave you? Then there is weighing up the can against the should. Sometimes just because you can do something doesnt mean you should. Is pizza a trigger food for you. Will eating it be the start of falling back into bad habits. You may want to consider making a pizza without a base ( just use the cheese and the toppings) or there are lots of recipes online for pizza made with a cauliflower base that are healthier than the regular kind

I agree. I always try to be kind and helpful. I would certainly never turn round and say to someone that the reason they need a revision is because they drink so much! There is always a degree of interpretation when things are posted on the net and sometimes things don't come across the way they are intended. I think it's pretty hard to misinterpret this though!

Isn't this the website assistance and suggestions thread?

After my surgery I'm looking forward to...............

Those are good goals. According to my kids I have no butt - I'm an apple which I hate. Apparently having a flat ass is not a good thing, some celebs pay lots of money to get theirs made bigger -
Apparently I'm the perfect example of why people shouldn't drink! I'd better get dressed and go and find my local AA now! the most ironic thing is the user that posted this has herself had a revision!

I got banded in 2009 and had my hysterectomy in 2011 so almost a 2 year gap.

Put her lead on put your jacket on and take her outside and wait until she has done her business. They soon get the hang of it .

Surgery is always scary, I know I'm always terrified. But I'm sure it will all go well and soon you will be looking back from the other side -
Dr Vuong seminars, who has been, what are they about?
elcee replied to elcee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks Alex. I had a feeling he may be a "failed" bariatric surgeon. I have a feeling that my friend may be wasting her money but I know that when your original procedure has not lived up to its promise that we tend to clutch at straws. Maybe she will get something helpful out of it. -
Sounds like you are doing well

That doesnt sound good? Was it a particular food that caused the issue? I know a lot of chinese food is full of sugar. Maybe something like Thai or Vietnamese would be easier to tolerate. They seem to be lighter and fresher.

Whichever surgery you choose the key to success is EDUCATION. Those that research beforehand and know what to expect seem to be a lot more successful than those who don't. Read the forums, read your surgeons info, follow the instructions that you are given and remember that ultimately WLS is only a tool, it cannot work without someone operating it

I think it is hard for anyone to give an objective answer on this because most people haven't had both. Those who have will have been revising from another surgery so that will skew their opinion as well. Some things to consider. Sleeve Is a restrictive only procedure, apparently there is a quite high risk of reflux,it cannot be reversed but it is possible to revise to a DS bypass. Bypass Is restrictive and malabsorptive, risk of reflux seems to be very low, certain foods e.g alcohol and sugar may cause dumping. It can be reversed if necessary but this is complicated.

What to order when you aren't drinking alcohol
elcee posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wondering what alternative drinks people order when at a bar or restaurant if you aren't drinking alcohol. Most of the low cal options are highly carbonated e.g diet coke Non alcoholic drinks such as lemon lime and bitters or lime and soda are generally quite high in sugar and calories. Plain soda water is boring and plain water even worse. -
Is losing 50% of excess weight the standard?
elcee replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
What qualifies a person as a Vet? Can I claim that hat? I think there are so few because after the first couple of years we get less obsessed with weight loss and just go back to “ normal “ life. We don’t need the constant support and feel we should just be getting on with things. We come back when something has gone wrong and we are staring down the barrel of a revision. At that point we feel like we have a lot of experience but we are also confused and apprehensive and a little bit scared. Can we do it again and be successful. Will we survive that bl@@dy awful preop diet for a second time etc I know what worked for me the first time was education education education.
