Even though those weights fall within the healthy BMI range I can well imagine that being at that low end can look and feel unhealthy. Are their ways that you can gain without having to eat more like swapping low cal for high cal versions of the same foods. e.g drinking full fat instead of skinny milk etc?

If I said I enjoyed sex multiple times a week would that make me a nymphomaniac?

There are lots of things that we don’t need to live but we have them anyway because we enjoy them . Imagine how boring life would be if we only had the things we needed.

Foot 911: What kind of shoes and socks do you wear?
elcee replied to %^&'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its about 9 years ago that I lost the weight and no I didn't wear them so much then. I was still working so I had to wear "work" shoes. Otherwise I wore ballet flats and sandals etc. Now that I don't work I just find Skechers the easiest most comfortable option. Except in winter and then I wear boots -
Do you have a Treat, what is it, and how often.
elcee replied to %^&'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
ON a FB support page I'm on there was a recent post from someone who was 4 weeks out and she was at Maccas and wanted to know if there was anything that it was ok for her to eat............... Needless to say that ended up in an "argument" similar to this one. What worried me most were the people that seemed to be enabling her and telling the people that had told her it wasn't a good choice to mind their own business, we were all fat once, no one is a saint etc -
Foot 911: What kind of shoes and socks do you wear?

I spend my life in Skechers, they are so light and comfy. Only problem is when I go out and get dressed up , then I have to wear real shoes - heels may be pretty but they certainly arent comfy -

I miss food so much so so much 😭😭😭
elcee replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Did food really make you happy? For 5 minutes or so possibly but then afterwards when it made you put on all that weight and become unhealthy? Food is like a frenemy, yes it gives us instantaneous comfort but we tend to feel bad afterwards. There is no reason for you not to still enjoy food you just need to experiment and start enjoying healthier food. Maybe take a cooking class or order some cookbooks and try new interesting flavours and tastes. -
Its good when it feels like the process is moving. Hopefully you will have that date soon. I'm currently working on not drinking with meals - its a habit I got out of

SLEEVE CONVERSION: Vertical gastric sleeve (VGS) to Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) ?
elcee replied to berry girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have heard that the mini bypass is a high risk for reflux. Maybe you should be looking at a full bypass - the sleeve is part 1 of a DS you could get that next stage -
To Minimiser Ring or not to Minimiser Ring, that is the question.
elcee replied to MsButterflyKiss's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing like a lapband but its a ring that goes around the stomach. Sounds exactly like a band except its not adjustable. Would have to wonder what the incidence of erosion and scar tissue formation is like down the track -
I would be concerned that these would cause the same kind of issues long term that a lapband does. Wondering what the research and stats say

I was involved in a car accident, which caused my band to slip! Please Read!
elcee replied to Missprdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It looks like you are bruised around the port, thats probably because something hit the area. Probably nothing to worry about but it is always best to go and see your Dr and raise your concerns -
Well done

Dumping twice in 3 days! Surgery just 7 days ago!
elcee replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Maybe take a step back and stick to what you were eating prior to Monday. I'm not there yet so can't say with any confidence but your body is probably still settling down. Treat yourself gently -

Differences in postop diets when having surgery "overseas"
elcee posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have recently joined some of the Aussie FB support groups. I have noticed that there are a lot of people having their surgery done in Bangkok because they don't have Private Health Ins and therefore it is cheaper. The thing that amazes me though is the difference in postop diets. These people are having sleeves and bypasses and are eating solid food in hospital 3 or 4 days later. I keep hearing that Asian countries are way ahead of Aus in terms of this surgery and that this kind of postop diet is more beneficial as it leads to less intolerances. Personally I find that hard to believe and I would be very wary but I am wondering if anyone has read any info on this kind of regime. Dr Google isn't throwing up much for me atm! -
Anyone regretting this?
elcee replied to Anglkrys2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All the people that offered support gave the best possible advice. Support is about ensuring the person gets what they need. If someone can't drink and is having migraines those are signs of dehydration and that is a killer. If someone had given "soft" advice e.g you poor thing go and lie down and take a couple of headache pills instead of advising to do what was needed to treat dehydration then it's possible the outcome could have been fatal. -
Open Letter To All Newbies

I drink my water hot with a tea bag and a splash of skinny milk. -
The people I know that have had a second or third band have never managed to achieve the same level of success they did when they first got banded. Potentially you may have lots of scar tissue and adhesions. At some point in your future this band is probably going to stop working or cause issues that require a revision. Why put yourself through that, especially because as Matt says bands are being phased out as they have been proven over time not to be the successful tool that they were initially thought to be. I would be considering my options and looking at something that hopefully won't need another revision 5 or 10 years down the line

Anyone else experience zero pain after surgery?
elcee replied to mreinmn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't had mine yet but that was how I felt after my hysterectomy. Once my catheter was out I was "jumping" out of bed, forgetting that I had the pain pump still attached! Surprised all the medical staff with how active I was -
Anyone regretting this?
elcee replied to Anglkrys2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My take on this is that the OP was having one of those awful OMG what have I done/I feel sorry for myself moments that a lot of people have in those days or weeks post surgery. She was probably looking for some sympathy whereas instead she got tough love. Hopefully she has read some of the responses and realised that there is no point in feeling sorry for yourself, you can't turn back the clock you have to get on with it. I am hoping she went to the ER and got that dehydration sorted out and has now worked out what and how to drink. If you don't like plain water, put cordial or some kind of flavouring in it. Not being able to drink because of a metallic taste is a bit over the top. I'm sure lots of people get that sort of taste for no known reason and drink anyway, I know I do. Hopefully she reports back soon and lets us know that yes she is OK -
In australia we have to do a face to face for anything, they will not give any info over the phone. It is incredibly annoying and to me an unnecessary drain on our healthcare system. I remember a number of years ago I had had blood tests and the Drs offices called me to tell me I had to come back in. Well the mind goes into overdrive, I had myself 6ft under and pushing up daisies! When I got to the Dr it turned out I had low iron and needed to take a supplement! Hope yours is something as simple
