What is a common non alcoholic drink to get at a bar?

I would love some good suggestions too. Unfortunately in Aus I don’t think we have any good options -
Every team is different but most follow 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks mushy, 2 weeks soft and then solids. Follow the advice of your team and if things aren’t working right go back to the previous stage

gastroparesis and possible band removal
elcee replied to granny15's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A lot of us are in a similar situation. It seems that bands are causing damage that was not predicted when they became so popular and that they should not be left in place indefinitely. I am scheduled to have mine removed and revise to RNY in Jan -
The Importance of viewing the "Whole Picture"
elcee replied to Matt Z's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That would happen because new people join the site and they search for topics that may be of interest to them. In fact newbies are often asked if they have done a search rather than just asking the same questions again. Besides resurrecting the dead is quite popular, zombie series are very in -

After my surgery I'm looking forward to...............
elcee replied to elcee's topic in The Gals' Room
I have always wanted to do that , but there isn't anywhere local and the prices that do offer it are pretty exy. The other issue is what would I do with pics afterwards, my husband would probably think I'd lost the plot! -

Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass ADELAIDE AUSTRALIA anyone here from Australia
elcee replied to New&Improved's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes you can search for threads with Australia or Aussie in them and I think you will find a number of us. As 2shea says there are also a lot of active facebook groups. I have joined some of those lately but am in 2 minds as to what I think about them. To me this site feels safer and more anonymous - it probably isn't but that is the way it feels. I also find that the groups do not always offer the best advice. They get into heated debates about how a person can eat whatever they want etc rather than trying to steer people towards better choices. And yes none of us are perfect but there is a big difference between genuine support and just encouraging people in their bad choices. -
still have high cholesterol
elcee replied to laurileet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the above, lots of people have genetic high cholesterol. -
I would be hoping that as he only wants to see you again in Jan it’s not too serious or urgent

The last couple of nights I have had quite a lot of tenderness in the port area.No idea why, I haven’t done any exercise that would aggravate it. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what the cause was

Obviously dumping is something that most wls patients fear and all want to try and avoid it. But after reading countless articles and threads I find it all very confusing. There are some food which are obvious triggers e.g alcohol, high fat and high sugar foods. But what I am curious about are things like fruit - fruit is very high in sugar but a lot of the articles and recommended diet plans include fruit as an ok food. This confuses me. Are certain fruits better than others? Is fruit ok but only in very small quantities? I am also wondering if "food combining" helps. Is eating fruit with protein e.g yogurt better than eating it on its own? Does this apply to other foods as well? We all know how before going to a party and consuming lots of alcohol people would "line" their stomachs with a glass of milk. Does this kind of approach work for bariatric patients? I am also interested in if there is anything that can be done to relieve or reduce a dumping episode once it starts? Obviously there isn't a lot that can be done if the dumping gives you the trots but what if your symptoms are the shaky, lightheaded , palpitations kind of symptoms? Usually people with hypoglycaemia need to get instant , easy to digest sugar but if sugar is the cause then its not going to help.

Non-Scale Victory 2 weeks post-op band to bypass
elcee replied to Mizzhappygolucky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats great news, just be aware though that over time it can go back up, mine did. Important thing is to make sure you get it checked just in case it starts creeping up without you noticing -
Whatever you choose , so long as it is done in conjunction with the surgeon and lots of thought is good. But the thing that never ceases to amaze me is how the 1 op seems to be regarded as so much more minor an op than the other. In 1 they cut away a huge percentage of your stomach and throw it away. In the other they reroute your intestines but they don't remove anything and should the need arise in the future it can be reversed.

Starving still... regret seriously increasing
elcee replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I knew what your message was it was just the thought of those horrible dry hard boiled eggs, I had to comment. Vegemite and celery, I can eat both but not together! Strangely celery is a food I always used to hate but I now love the stuff. Peas have been the stuff of my nightmares since my Dad forced me to eat them as a kid. I had to cover them in ketchup and swallow them whole! -

If I had to use this measure I would die of hunger, I HATE hard boiled eggs, dry disgusting things that make your mouth feel horrible. Those along with bananas, brussel sprouts and peas yuck -

Stomach hurts after drinking water
elcee replied to Ladyhawkhere's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Or try putting a little bit of flavour in it. According to my dietician a lot of people have issues with water post surgery but putting cordial or other flavour in seems to help -
4 shots of alcohol every night is not a good idea! That certainly won’t help your weight loss.

Drinking calories is one of the quickest and easiest ways to fail. They are not filling, they go through really easily and they are generally empty calories. Stick to drinks that are not full of empty calories. If after you have had a drink you are still hungry then eat something that is on your plan. Make sure that your food is interesting. Boring food doesn’t help.

Interesting about the hot coffee. I remember way back when I first got banded that there were a number of people that needed a warm drink before eating as it seemed to relax their band enough for them to be able to eat. I wonder if this is something similar

Do you have a Treat, what is it, and how often.
elcee replied to %^&'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is very true and there have been lots of studies about it. If we BAN a food it makes it more attractive and we crave it more. If we know that it is allowed ( as a sometimes food) it loses its power. Having said that though there are some people that cannot stop at 1 bite, once they start they have to eat the whole packet . A bit like an alcoholic that cannot safely have just 1 drink . If this isn't you then I don't see the harm in factoring intreats, so long as you account for them and they don't become a habit. -
I'm doing the same in Jan. Keep us updated on how you go
