  1. So you also had bloating issues?
  2. There are quite a few with a VSG too, maybe not lightning strikes but definitely rumbling thunder possibly building to thunder claps! https://www.verywellhealth.com/long-term-complications-after-gastric-sleeve-surgery-4158320
  3. Lightning strike complications, what the heck are they? I have 2 days to go to my revision to RNY and thought I was well educated and well prepared but I haven’t seen lightning strike complications in anything I have read! I still don’t understand why people fear RNY with its rerouting that technically can be reversed if it has to be but they don’t fear having most of their stomach chopped off and thrown in the bin never to be seen again! I wouldn’t have a sleeve if I had Reflux. It is fairly common knowledge now that the sleeve is not a cure for Reflux and can exacerbate it if you already have it.
  4. Sliming or the foamier is quite common after WLS. It usually happens when something is stuck and the body produces extra saliva to try and help it slide through. With a band I have sometimes had so much foam And slime I feel like a rabid dog

    Anxious

After 5 months you should be completely healed and the likelihood of damaging it with food like that would be the same as damaging your stomach preop

    Sadness

I'm sure you realise how illogical it is to expect that 100lb would fall off that quickly. We all want that magic where we can just wake up one morning and suddenly be slim and beautiful ( instead of fat and beautiful) but like most fairy stories it doesn't happen. You are doing really well and you have lost heaps already. In a years time you will look back at this and think wow , how quickly did I manage to lose all that weight. In the meantime chin up, keep smiling and know that your cheer squad here has your back
  7. My surgeon has also told me that the chances of oesophageal dysmotility are very high and it is better to take the band out before the oesophagus fails completely . I am revising from band to RNY on thursday. There is generally a very high risk of reflux going from band to sleeve and a lot of people end up going band sleeve RNY. Good luck with your decision
  8. Your stomach will never stop making noises, when they do WLS they insert an alien! I think mine likes to try to communicate with its friends , especially at night or when it’s quiet in a room full of people

VSG - right decision or not?

Talk to a Dr and see what they recommend
  10. From what I have read the mini bypass also has an increased risk of reflux. RNY is generally regarded as the best option for reflux although it's still not 100%

    Surgery fears..

I have the exact same fears every time I have to be put under , I think its just normal to be scared.

How to Go about Lap Band Removal?

I would go and address your concerns with a Dr. They may decide to do some tests - barium swallow, endoscope etc. If the results of all those are fine they may feel that if its not causing problems to leave it as is. Obviously if they do fins anything untoward then the advice may be to remove it

    Weight fluctuations at Goal Weight

I don’t know if you are male or female but females often have large weight fluctuations throughput the month because of hormones, water retention etc
  15. Are you going into politics?

    Not my Dr., Thank Heavens!

    Was it Dr Vuong?
  21. 4 shakes , 2 bars and a banana that sounds like quite a generous allowance. If you have got through the first 9 days then the rest should be easy. Just keep that endgoal in sight
  22. I cant imagine keeping a secret of that magnitude from my husband. Your spouse is supposed to be your person , the one that you share things with, that has your back, that looks out for you etc Who is going to be taking you to and from hospital? Who is going to be your emergency contact? What is you have some unexpected side effects and have to stay in hospital longer than planned. Imagine how betrayed he will feel if he only finds out afterwards. You wouldn’t want to be going through that kind of stress whilst trying to recover
  23. So I have one week to go until my revision from Band to RNY. I have been toldnot to do a preop diet but just to stick to clean eating!! I am extremely happy about that and could have kissed the NUT when she told me that as I remember how awful the preop was before my band. But do you know how confusing clean eating is? Yes I know I need to steer away from processed foods and added sugars but apart from that there are so many different variations. I haven’t been told no carbs but I am trying to keep those to a minimum ( except veg). I’ve also given up alcohol. Hopefully that is enough!
  24. Picked up my BN. hewable vitamins today and decided to test one . OMG they are gross. First there is the overpowering smell and tasteof iron, I’m sure the last time I took something that tasted like that was when I was a kid. Then there is that horrible artificial fizzy sweetness. The urge was to not chew properly and just swallow as quickly as possible. I’m guessing that could be an issue post op
