Chronic hives after gastric sleeve
elcee replied to Barbara V's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I very much doubt that it is the staples. -
I’m going to have to research fillers and neck lifts, you can’t hide your face under clothes!

I have had bad roseacea on my nose. 6 months worth of antibiotics and 2 bouts of laser treatment ( which hurts like a witch) and it seems to be improved

Love number 2

That seems like quite a big procedure for potentially little benefit

Those bears are evil. The stomach pain that goes with the laxative effect is indescribable. -
Thin Yogurt, jelly and custard were allowed on my liquid diet. If I never see another protein shake in my life it will be too soon. Was so happy to be able to stop drinking them

Nausea and different taste buds HELP!
elcee replied to ByPassing!'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Taste changes seem to be pretty common. Things taste too sweet, artificial sweeteners taste artificial, milk tastes too milky, my regular tea doesn’t taste the same etc. I also find that tastes change from day to day and week to week. Things I wa happy. to have in week 1 e.g powerade zero I have no interest in now. -
How much is your life and health worth? GERD is serious and can lead to all sorts of serious long term complications. You need to go for the tests

Good luck

They recommend the chewables for the first month as they are absorbed better. You will still take your other meds as per usual. They are specific multi's that are developed for bariatric patients so no point trying to buy some from a supermarket at this point.

I can’t figure out how much I should be eating
elcee replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Purées should generally be half a cup or approx 125ml. Find a bowl that is the right size and put your food in that -
Your surgeon will prescribe vitamins. Most Aussie Drs use the BN brand. First month after surgery you get the chewable ( they are feral) , after that you will generally be changed over to a capsule.

If you are on FB join the gastric bypass and sleeve support australia group. Lots of locals there that can help.

Most surgeons will tell you that RNY is the gold standard WLS. It works with restriction and malabsorption which helps to lose weight more easily. Both surgeries have an effect on hunger hormones but apparently after a year to 18 months that effect is sometimes gone. A sleeve is a purely restrictive procedure. Some people that have RNY get dumping syndrome, this is usually in response to foods that are not good for weight loss anyway, high sugar, high fat etc. This can be good because if eating something makes you feel awful you are likely to stay away from it. It is possible to eat around any kind of WLS surgery and if you forget that it is only a tool and expect it to be a magic wand you won’t get the results you desire. I have lots of friends that have been sleeved. Some of them are maintaining goal weights approx 3 years on, a lot seem to have regained and I have 1 friend that lost very little and is now heavier than when she got the sleeve. If you have reflux you should go straight to RNY as sleeves often make the reflux worse. HTH

I’ve also had weetbix which I used to like but it now tastes like horse food. Ive eaten oats twice and both times they made me feel a little weird. Not full on dumping but definetly not right.

My diet so far is a sort of mix of purée and soft. I’m not overly keen on things with the texture of baby food. Some of the things I’ve tried that aren’t too bad are Stewed fruit with custard or yogurt. Slightly undercooked poached egg. Mashed not blended. Baked beans. Tinned corned beef Cooked mashed vegetables. Avo. Smoked salmon, Tuna both of these are also good blended with cottage cheese. I did blend some super soft slow cooked beef with gravy yesterday and had it over veg. That was ok. Blending everything together though is gross. Tried a tuna lasagne - wasn’t a fan so that got used as dog food

BMI Goal: is your BMI goal to be healthy or overweight?
elcee replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My BMI is currently 25.4 and I’m definitely still FAT. -
Why did you need a revision so soon?

Unfortunately you can’t choose where you lose. I know mine will come off my butt and my legs first and my stomach last. So instead of being a big apple I will be a small apple. I’m not suddenly going to change into an ⏳

A diet chocolate mousse or a cup of low cal hot chocolate. Or maybe a low sugar choc flavoured syrup over some yogurt

After gastric bypass surgery, how long after that do u have to stay on a liquid diet
elcee replied to Dorothy stewart's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
As long as YOUR doctor tells you -
No I have it medium. When I have it without milk I make it really weak but I can still taste that bitter aftertaste. I have been starting to experiment and can just about stomach lemongrass and ginger. I hate Rooibos and I lived in South Africa for over 20 years which is where the stuff comes from. Also can’t stand peppermint, that’s a bit like drinking toothpaste!

I used to be the worlds biggest teadrinker. ATM I can't drink it. With a splash of l/f milk the way I normally have it it tastes too milky. If I try without milk I can taste the bitterness. I'm hoping this doesn't last, if it does some big tea companies could go out of business. Currently trying to find a suitable low cal substitute that works
