    Weight loss avg

How long is a piece of string?
  2. Protein is really important. I am sure that as a vegetarian it is still possible to get that much protein.
  3. Mikeyy do you realise that you don’t have to wait until your private health insurance kicks in to go and see a surgeon? I think the sooner you make an appointment and do that the better. Then you will know for definite what their requirements are. Do not assume that you will be automatically accepted. Most reputable surgeons require evidence of attempts to lose weight, it is also likely that a psychological assessment will be required. Dont assume that surgery is a magic wand. I know people that thought that and they have failed spectacularly. Fluffys advice to start trying to lose weight now is sound. The smaller and healthier you are when you have the surgery the lower the risk.
  4. Well done fluffy you look amazing. It’s great to finally be able to see the chick behind the chick! I love reading your posts as you always give such sensible advice. You truly are an inspiration. Keep up the good work
  5. So excited. Put my stats into a BMI calculator and realised I'm no longer overweight. Yay. Still got a bit more to lose as my middle is still too thick to be healthy but being in the healthy weight range again feels amazing!
  6. 4 bananas in 1 shake sounds like a heck of a lot. Have you calculated the calorie count etc?
  7. I’m in Australia so my process is slightly different. We need a referall from our General Practicioner to see a specialist and that lasts for a year. I have been seeing my surgeon for years , he didn’t do my band but he took over my aftercare. I went to see him in about Sept last year and told him how frustrated I was and he gave me options. At that point he suggested RNY and told me his reasoning. I went home and did some research and decided to go ahead. I had another appointment with the surgeon to go over everything and set a date. He didn’t require another gastroscope as he did one within the last 2 years, he also had results from a barium swallow I did earlier in the year. The only other specialist I was required to see was a physician to check that I was fit for surgery.

    The Biggest Loser (RANT)

It’s like a lot of TV these days. Total rubbish, manufactured drama, cheap to produce and appeals to the masses. I hate it, I wish the networks would go back to producing good quality dramas
  10. All that from m something as simple as a sinus infection, wow. Glad they have got to the bottom of it and that you are now on the road to recovery
  11. Wait 2 hours after eating before drinking? That’s taking things a bit far

    Sleeve or Bypass?

You are scared of having your intestines rerouted but having most of a major organ chopped off and thrown away doesn’t worry you?
  13. elcee

    EGD done, still getting sleeved

I hope that is the right decision, good luck

    One week Post op

It can take a while. You have just had a GA, major surgery, you are living on a low energy restricted diet. Just be kind to yourself and don’t push too hard

    lap band erosion

Sometimes it is because the band is too tight. Sometimes it may be because it has slipped. There are probably other causes but not sure what they are

    Post OP question

When you have chosen a surgeon and started the process for real you may find that some of your thoughts and interpretations do not match with theirs. It is pointless rushing out and buying things now when you don't know what your team's recommendations are going to be. Living off shakes and vitamins is not very healthy, the aim is to get as much nutrition as possible from proper healthy food.

    Post OP question

There doesn’t seem to be a lot on the net probably because most Drs are very conservative. I did however find this https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26071241 Interestingly patients that go overseas to Asia seem to be put onto solids straight after surgery.

    Any 4' 11 Bypassers?

I'm 153cm which is 5foot! My journey is different to yours though as I had a band first , had that removed and revised to RNY a month ago
  19. There is no point now trying to second guess what you should have done, you can’t turn back time, work with what you have. Think yourself lucky you didn’t choose a band. They have discovered that they are not as successful as first thought and whilst they may be reversible they do a lot of damage. Most bandsters end up having their bands removed and revising to another for. of surgery.
  20. I asked my surgeon if there was a limit per item to avoid dumping and he said no because it is different for every person. No idea what the limit per day would be
  21. What are you chasing? Are you chasing a sensation that stops you eating? A band is not about restriction in that way it is supposed to make you satisfied on smaller portions of healthy food, the tighter you are the less likely you are to be able to eat those healthy foods and the more likely you are to eat high calorie non satisfying sliders. The other thing is that bands after a while seem to become ineffective. It may be that your band has come to the end of its useful lifespan and you may need to consider a revision
