3 months in and first dumping
elcee replied to LosingitLondon's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Soy sauce doesn’t usually have lots of sugar, it’s full of salt. It seems like a strange thing to have triggered dumping -
That was difficult to read as it was all in 1 long paragraph that just blended together! In future try breaking it up and don’t use caps! You are going for a sleeve with only 20lb to lose but you believe that if you lose this 20lb you will look ugly? So why are you doing it? I had no preop diet for my revision, I was just told to stick to clean eating. Why are you questioning what your surgeon has told you to do? You are trusting him or her with your life but you don’t want to trust them with your diet instructions? Yes you can take whole pills after surgery.

How do I know I'm not being impulsive?
elcee replied to Pippa1703's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be careful about going overseas for surgery. There was a member that went to a clinic in Eastern Europe recently and she seems to have had major complications. She was given no preop support, no counselling and no postop diet instructions. Cheaper is not always worth it. -
There is a very long thread on IF

what's the worse things about bypass
elcee replied to BucksMum99's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There were the same stories about hair loss with the band. Some lose it , some don't. -
October 2018 Sleever - Pictures Update - LOST OVER 100LBS!

Looking FAB -
I revised from band to bypass on 17/01/19. I have lost 7kg so far and am now back in the healthy weigh range. You don’t have to have a high BMI when you are revising because of complications. Im really happy with my decision so far

How old are you, have you finished your family? Your gynaecologist may recommend a hysterectomy or possibly a uterine ablation or if they are not too bad hormonal treatment may be enough

A lot of people come out of surgery heavier than they went in because of all the fluids etc that get pumped into you.At 5 days postop you shouldn’t be too concerned. Keep following the plan and the weight will start coming off

Glad it was found and treated quickly. I was 1 of those people that didn’t end up getting blood thinning shots, I had the opposite problem I was bleeding too easily!

what's the worse things about bypass
elcee replied to BucksMum99's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my revision mid Jan. Not sure what the worst part about the bypass is. So far I haven’t thrown up whereas with the band I could get stuck a couple of times a week even though I didn’t have a lot of fill and some of the foods were soft and shouldn’t have got stuck. I haven’t really been hungry. Yes sometimes I start feeling as though I need food but this is generally close to when I should be eating anyway. I haven’t had any real cravings. I can walk around a supermarket filled with chocolate and not feel the need to buy and eat it. I am not constipated! Apart from the first week when I was on liquids and the body trying to readjust to food I haven’t had any dumping episodes. This could be because at this point I am trying extra hard to avoid sugar. -
Well there isn’t an average, everyone is different. Generally the heavier you are to start the more you lose. But then some people struggle to lose the water weight gained during surgery etc.

First weight loss stall since the surgery. (Little Concerned!)
elcee replied to jrmolina2006's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Did you read the article in the link that you posted? It actually says that they don’t know what causes the whoosh effect . That the cells do not fill up with water as you have stated and then let go of it again. -
I have an allergy to the adhesive on dressings but it doesn’t usually spread that far. I think seeing the Dr is definitely the right thing to do. Keep us posted

I eat fruit most days. Sometimes it’s a small amount of peaches with my morning oats. Or some berries with yogurt or 1/2 cup of mango . It’s yummy, healthy and also helps to satisfy sweet cravings

Anyone else experience this?
elcee replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like postural hypotension to me. -
I have also been told 3 meals and 2 or 3 healthy snacks

How come everything now tastes so salty!!
elcee replied to NH1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven’t had an issue with salty but sweet yuck. Especially some of the low sugar items, they taste very sweet and very artificial -

It’s one of the B vitamins that causes nervous system issues and is hard to have enough of without supplementation after WLS. You need to somehow make a plan to check what is going on and address it before you end up with an irreversible problem

I have been told 125ml to 250ml per meal. I struggle sometimes with measuring. I’m fine if it’s something in a bowl but food that gets eaten from a plate is a bit harder. I sometimes wonder if I have eaten too much but I generally leave something on the plate. So far I have not had any symptoms of being full - I just try to stop when I mentally think I’ve eaten enough

Very upset after nutritionist appointment
elcee replied to Simples's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
According to my nutritionist the calculation is around .8grams of protein per 1kg of weight. As you lose weight your protein requirements will be less. This is why initially most people have to use protein shakes but as they lose weight they are no longer required . When I last saw my nutritionist I weighed around 60kg and she calculated I was getting around 60g of protein per day so I no longer needed shakes. Not getting enough protein is very risky. Your body will try to get it where it can. You don’t want your body to start breaking down all it’s muscles , particularly the heart -
First real temptation
elcee replied to Sheribear68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well done on getting through a tough challenge -
The reason you are confused is because you haven't been to see a surgeon yet. Once you have done that things will become a lot clearer. DS is done in Aus but not that commonly because it used to be a 2 step procedure. Sleeve first then DS a while later. They discovered that a lot of people that had the sleeve were so successful they didn't need to go to step2. There are still some people however that need that second step.
