    What about Alcohol???

I drink wine - not as often as before but I do still drink it.probably once maybe twice per week.

    Movies

I don't munch anymore I just take a bottle of water. Mindless munching at the movies is one of the things that helped make us fat!
  3. I know water doesn't soothe the burning is such, with Indian food they eat yogurt or cucumber raita or similar to take away the hot sensation. But not being able to drink at all makes a huge difference. A drink even at the end of the meal would get rid of the lingering taste, refresh the palate etc but you can't do it and after spicy food it feels weird!

    Blood Pressure

That's fantastic. Hope mine does the same

Wierd stuff after two months fill

It sounds as though you are too tight and need to get some fluid taken out. The reflux at night is a symptom of this and you don't want to leave it as it can cause problems.

    Healing time and complications

I was told the same as restless, that my band had primer in it. It is definitely not the same as being prefilled. After reading posts on here from people that have had fluid in their bands at sugery and the problems they've had i'm glad mine wasn't prefilled.
  7. Its a tough problem isn't it. I'm finding clothes that were too tight are now too big but my skinny clothes don't fit yet. I don't want to spend lots of money on clothes as hopefully I will keep losing and the clothes swap at my support group isn't much good for me as I started off with a cmparitively low BMI.

    Seriously curious

Depends on the position. Chicken strips on top maybe - chicken strips underneath no!

    A little bit embarssaing

libido - what's one of those? I seem to remember having one once but not sure where it went!
  10. I cannot imagine not telling my husband. In fact he is the only person that knows that I have had the surgery. You need him for support plus if you have problems how are you going to hide it. e.g a PB or stuck episode? As everyone else has already said there are some issues that you need to sort out. Ultimately it is your body and you can go ahead and have the surgery but if you don't tell him and he finds out later I believe it could destroy your relationship.

Called off the surgery - anyone feeling this way?

You have to do what feels right for you. Remember you may think the postop was a breeze and that you lost weight so easily that you don't need the band but most of us have lost before but been unable to keep it off. If dieting on its own worked I doubt you would have got to the stage where you booked the surgery.
  12. Thanks for posting. It is wonderful to read something from someone who has been banded a while and is not having problems. We need to hear this side of things as it encourages and inspires. Congratulations on your achievement.

    finally decided to do this

Yes I am with AHM and didn't have any problems. As the previous poster said you will still have out of pocket expenses which will add upto approx $4000. Which Dr are you with? I got banded in June by Dr Nottle.

    JUNE 2009 Lap Band Surgery

My Dh is buying me a lovelinks bead for every 5kg I lose which is about 11lb so I think mini goals of 10lb are perfect.
  15. One of the problems with spicy food is that you can no longer eat and drink at the same time. So previously if you ate something too hot you probably had a drink of something to ease the burning sensation. You can no longer do that. So it probably all depends on your tolerance to spicy foods. I have eaten mildly spicy foods a couple of times with no problems but it can be uncomfortable when it is spicier than you thought!
  16. I think the microfills mean that they put in very small amounts e.g 0.2ml etc at a time. This way things are slower but there is less risk of an overfill and the discomfort that you are currently suffering. Sorry to hear that you have had such a bad week. Hope that you get sorted out today and that things get better.
  17. www.afl.com.au this link might help.
  18. You'd better check - i'm not an expert!
  19. I was lucky - soup were liquids for me. Isn't there anything else on your list other than Jello and instant breakfast? I would find that extremely difficult as its all sweet and to me sweet doesn't feel like a meal.I also don't see how it gets you into a good eating pattern as sweet stuff is for a lot of us (but not all) what caused the problem in the first place!
  20. Don't advance your diet without speaking to and getting approval from your Dr first. The diet is there for a reason and breaking it can lead to problems later. What are you allowed to eat at this stage? Are you allowed Soup? If you are there are lots of tasty , satisfying Soups that you can make. Think any vegetable and you can turn it into soup.
  21. The recipies so far are great. can't wait for it to warm up a bit so I can try some of them. As to Rooibos , I can't stand the stuff. Even the smell puts me off.I used to hate it when I lived in South Africa and someone would offer me tea and make me a cup of Rooibos.Yuk!
  22. This confuses me too. Please post the explanation if they give you one as i am sure it will be enlightening. Thanks
  23. I agree. If the piece is too small to start with it is harder to get your teeth into to chew so you end up swallowing by mistake which causes problems.
  24. 3 minutes is an awful long time to wait - especially when you are hungry.I agree with eating slowly but this doesn't seem practical.
