Is tree hugging a new sexual position?
-
Who cares what he thinks,he doesn't matter.

Well politicians can't admit they have ever made a mistake can they ? They have to try and justify what they have done. I hope you are right. There are a couple of countries that worry me though - China is one - I believe that they could withstand a prolonged war and that their military could equal or beat the US. I hope that I am wrong and that I never have to find out. North Korea is also a problem. Not because of the strength of their army but because they have nuclear weapons and they are run by a total nut job! NB. This thread has become a lot more interesting than it was in the beginning. It's amazing where you can allow yourself to end up when you get sidetracked! Even though none of us will probably ever meet I still feel more comfortable arguing on a thread about religion than on one that discusses your favourite sexual position or some of the other threads that we have in the off topic sections of the board!

Bob Have you forgotten Northern Ireland or is that not considered modern. The dumb thing there is that they are all Christian but the Catholics and Protestants couldn't get along.

This could have benefits. Someone else to do the ironing when you don't feel like it etc . However I believe that there is a tribe somewhere where they practice the opposite - Women are allowed more than 1 husband. personally I believe that they have it right. Why? Well there is no way that one man can afford to keep more than one woman in the manner in which she would like to be kept. However if one women were allowed multiple husbands then she could have a really good lifestyle. Plus you could have the benefits of having an older man whom you love for his mind, a younger man whom you love for his body etc!

Exactly. Most atrocities are committed in the name of some religion. Most wars are started in the name of religion. One of the main reasons most can't get on with each other is because of differences in religion. They happen because people believe so fervently that what they believe is right and that everyone else is wrong. Does that kind of behaviour sound familiar? In fact I think we would be far better off without religion. it would be one less thing to fight and kill people over. But I suppose the downside is that without it we would need to find another way of controlling the masses and also giving people comfort.

Well said. I agree with you. However I am not a Christian, or a Jew or a Muslim or whatever. And guess what I still love my family, friends, try to help other people when I can and do the right thing because it is the RIGHT thing to do. Does that make me any less a person? I also don't go around preaching to other people telling them that my way is right and that theirs is wrong. I don't try to convert them. I don't tell them that 'life" is going to be terrible after they die (LOL) because they didn't believe in some religious entity!

Aren't you the lucky one Bob! I hate it when people say they will pray for me as though I am somehow lacking something and in need of urgent help.

Banded 6/1/10. can't keep anything down!
elcee replied to kimba999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your Dr may have put in some fill already and this could be causing the problems. Lots of people that have fill added during surgery find that with the swelling and everything else it causes problems. Call your Dr and ask. If you have been prefilled it can be removed so that you can recover and heal and then in a couple of weeks time you should be ready for your first fill. -
I dont Understand :(
elcee replied to melissav1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also wondering why you are so focused on the total fill amount. You should not judge your restriction based on the number but on how you feel. If you can eat small portions, not be hungry between meals or planned Snacks and are losing weight then you don't need a fill. From the sounds of it you have been very successful so far. Don't risk messing that up by being too tight. You may end up eating high calorie sliders, getting reflux or slipping your band. -
Just saw and read this thread. Bored already. Same people , same c@@P! YES "Happy Clappies" are extremely annoying but then so are Jehovahs Witnesses and other religious types that come around and try to convert you. Sometimes I think God must have them on a bonus scheme like parking attendants!

Oh I know your there now.......buddy
elcee replied to Dblex's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Toasted sandwiches are often difficult as they involve 2 pieces of bread, try having an open toasted sandwich. I find it far easier to eat an open sandwich as it only has one slice of bread.Plus tuna can be a bit dry as well. Remember don't give up on a food just because you have had difficulty with it once. Next time you try eating it could be very different. -
the aging trade off
elcee replied to karmaandkismet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Losing a couple of chins may lead to crepey skin on your neck! I know which I'd rather have.If its really bad you can have plastic surgery. If the rest of the body has loose or wrinkly skin you can hide it under clothes and still look slim - something you can't do when you are hugely overweight. Lets face it - fat is not attractive. -
am a FAILURE in my weight-loss journey
elcee replied to MissWhitzel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This might sound harsh but to me it sounds as though you are making excuses. It's up to you if you want to lose the weight or not. If you do get with the program. if you don't then carry on the way you are. It seems silly to have gone through surgery just to have a very expensive piece of plastic sitting around your stomach doing nothing. Try to remember why you did this in the first place. i am sure the reasons that were there then for losing weight are still there. -
Do you consider salad a "slider" food?
elcee replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A slider food is one that goes down easily, is high calorie and low nutrition. Whilst you may be able to get the salad down easily it is low cal(so long as its not smothered in dressing) and is highly nutritious so it is not a slider. At least the salad that you are describing actually sounds like a salad. I see so many threads on here about "salads" and they seem to consist of meat/cheese/sour cream/dressing etc with maybe a couple of token lettuce leaves. If you are able to eat the kind of salads that you are eating then continue to do so. They are really good for you - packed full of Vitamins and minerals.Be just be careful with raw carrots. Make sure they are grated and chewed really well as they can cause blockages! -
am a FAILURE in my weight-loss journey
elcee replied to MissWhitzel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Firstly lets say that a weight loss of 35lb would put you right on track. Remember that the band is designed to help you lose 1 - 2lb per week.So maybe if you look at that and realise that you are successful that you are not a failure it will give you a bit of a boost. It sounds as though there are other issues that could impede your weight loss so I think going to see a psych that specailises in food addiction/eating disorders would be a really great idea. Maybe for some reason you are scared to be slim. Maybe you are hiding behind the weight. There are lots of possibilities. I think part of the problem maybe that even though you were told that the band is only a tool you still somehow expected it to be a magical fix and for the weight to just drop off. Now that you realise that that's not going to happen you have to take responsibility for your success and start working with it. If you find some kind of exercise that you like you are more likely to stick with it. You don't have to sweat it out in the gym - you just have to get active. You could try Zumba, dancing, cycling, walking, swimming ............... I am sure that you can find something that you enjoy. Once you have decent restriction you won't be able to drink with your meals as it will be too uncomfortable. So get back on the bandwagon, go and see your Dr and get excited about how amazing you are going to look in a couple of months time. -
Has anyone gotten the ?Super Sleevectomy? (TGVP) with Dr. Jose Rodriguez?
elcee replied to mellifrits's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Very strange first post! Most people start off on these boards by introducing themselves, giving a little background etc. Instead you seem to be plugging a certain type of op and a certain Dr. There is a sleeve board where you are more likely to get a response from someone who has been sleeved. Try posting your questions there as well. -
Sorry to hear what you are going through. I am with your husband on this one. You need to give your body chance to recover from the miscarriages. This will help give you a better chance of a healthy pregnancy. I know its hard but try to relax and look after yourself. Being tense and stressed won't help.

Never been told no straws either.

That is exactly why diets fail. We need to stop at looking at food as good and bad or allowed and forbidden. It is far more sensible to regard food as always or sometimes foods. I got banded because I was sick of dieting. I wanted to be able to eat what I wanted when I wanted - exactly the same as thin people do. Most people who have a healthy relationship with food do not obsess over every mouthful. They listen to their bodies, figure out exactly what they need at that point and eat it. If I want to eat a piece of chocolate I will and hopefully because I know that itis OK to do so I will stop without finsihing the whole bar. Preband chocolate was forbidden food so it held a much greater hold over me and I was far more likely to finish the entire bar than I am now. For me the band has been about not dieting, listening to my body and eating any food I want in moderation. It has been about trying to develop a healthy relationship with food. Some of my choices now are far healthier than preband.I have just eaten a slice of melon because that is what i really fancied. It is not the easiest food for me to eat now and actually causes a little discomfort going down. I could easily have thought forget it let me have some crackers/yogurt/icecream whatever instead as they would have been far easier to eat but I persevered with the melon. I don't think this is bad at all. At least you didn't have lunch and icecream!

Slipped - Probably having band replaced....
elcee replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear this. As far as I know they only replace the band.If there is nothing wrong with your port/tubing they should be able to connect all that up. -
Do you get an Unfill for Surgery?
elcee replied to delta27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr says that they now unfill people prior to any kind of surgery. The reason for this is the nausea and vomiting associated with anaesthesia can sometimes cause a slip. -
Scars, Scaring and what to do about them
elcee replied to Sakura04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use bio oil on mine. I started using it just before Xmas cos I noticed I had some stretch marks. They are now all gone. My scars are not very noticeable either but I don't think that is because of the bio oil.Teh only scar which yiou can really see is the biggest one and its not that bad at all. -
I seem to remember my dietician telling me that in the liquid stage there are lots of foods allowed that are not recommended later on. Things such as custard, flavoured yogurt, fruit juices etc.Fine for the liquid phase but too high cal for later. Admittedly ice cream was on the list of foods to avoid. Not because of the high cals but because of the lack of nutritional value. So long as this was a one off then in the big scheme of things it doesn't really matter. I must be a really BAD bandster because whenever I get a fill I go for ice-cream afterwards. Why? Because the drive to my Dr's is approx 90 minutes each way and because it is in the same area as some of Melbournes best icecream shops. I don't get the opportunity to go there very often and as I have to remain on liquids for the rest of the day I figure icecream is a reasonable choice! I suppose the difference is that this is a planned snack and not a spur of the moment thing. I am sure though that lots of you bandsters must be raising your eyebrows in horror! Lol

I also know straight away that I have a problem. Even when its due to having eaten too much it quicks in straight away.
