14 Day Post Lap Band Surgery - Time For Mushies! Help!
elcee replied to jsi69i's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate things like pasta and lasagne . Tuna lasagne was a favourite. I grated all the veg in my food processor before cooking it to make sure they were extra small. Lots of mashed veg like pumpkin, squash, zucchini etc. -
LOL Been there done that. For those who have never been stuck think yourself lucky, just don't think it is because you are following your Dr's rules. Most of us do that and it doesn't stop stuck episodes. The foods that Dr's recommend are actually the ones that are more likely to cause problems than the unhealthy, fattening foods that shouldn't be eaten on a regular basis. I have been stuck on chicken, fish, watermelon, tomato, lettuce etc. The mistake most people make is that when they get stuck on something they then cut it out of their diets and end up living on a very small range of food. I still eat everything regardless of if it has given me a problem before. Restriction is not about restricting the type of foods that you can eat, it is about feeling satisfied on smaller portions. If Papaya works for you then again count yourself as being lucky. I have tried and it does nothing for me.Generally the best option when you are stuck is to try to bring the offending item back up - that will give you relief from the discomfort which could otherwise go on for hours. If I have a really bad stuck episode I suck on crushed ice, it helps to reduce the swelling and seems to speed things along. Good luck with finding out what works for you.

The first time it happens it feels like you are having a heart attack.

Itchy, Swollen Lap Band Surgery Incision Areas?
elcee replied to Mindy!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried taking an antihistamine? -
My skinny 22year old daughter can no longer fit into my jeans so I know how great you feel. However when it comes to dresses there are some my daughter can get into which I can't. I am smaller around the hips and butt, she is smaller around the middle.

Lap Band Removed Last Year, Still Vomiting
elcee replied to Barnstormer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe the vomiting had nothing to do with the band which is why removing it has made no difference? -
What Was The Deciding Factor To Finally Lose The Weight?
elcee replied to kristallynn13's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My BMI was also 34. My PCP also told me it was too dangerous and I should just eat less , exercise more etc. I don't like being told I can't do something so I thought Sod you and made an appointment to see the specialist myself. The specialist thought i was a perfect candidate and more likely than most to achieve 100% success because of having the lower BMI. Yes you may have lost weight in the past but have you kept it off? Obviously not. Plus as you get older it gets harder and harder to shift the weight. I wish some of these PCPs would just open their eyes and realise how hard it is. If they have never had a weight problem then they cannot possibly understand. I would go and see another Dr. -
1 Year Lap Band Surgery Anniversary And Struggling....
elcee replied to janepur's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree that you are too tight and that you need some taken out so that you can eat a wider variety of foods. As you can see being too tight doesn't work, you don't lose. You are probably consuming more calories than you realise as calories are easy to drink. Have a small unfill, start eating a wider variety of healthy foods and see what happens. -
You should extend that to do not google lap band - I am sure you will find lots of negative stuff if you do that as well.

Yes , hiccups are normally a sign that you have had enough(or too much) or possibly that you have eaten too quickly

What To Eat In The First 2 Weeks after Lap Band Surgery!
elcee replied to Abbiewtvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have just had your op and one of the foods you are eating is chocolate? If you want to be successful you should be focusing on trying to make healthier choices. Eat yogurt, soup, Protein shakes, milk etc. You should be getting your mind in the right place so that you can make the correct choices going ahead. the easiest time to do it is now immediately post op when your motivation levels are high. -
This is the truest part of your message. Everyone has to find the right surgery for them and then work with it to obtain the optimal results. Failure to do so can result in your chosen surgery "failing"

I am now 24kg lighter and happily maintaining, something I have tried many times before and never managed. Could it be the band, no that must just be coincidence,it must be that after all these attempts I have eventually worked it out all by myself

I Never Thought I'd Say This But
elcee replied to Jachut's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Congrats - I am jealous. Just looked at your pics and think you look pretty amazing even without the TT, certainly no sign of the pear shaped hips and things that you keep telling us you have. -
Well you are unlikely to feel full the way you did before you got the band. What you should be aiming for is satisfied. If you go past that and eat too much you will find that the new full or overfull is very very uncomfortable.

It's obviously bone that you couldn't feel before through the layers of fat.

What To Eat In The First 2 Weeks after Lap Band Surgery!
elcee replied to Abbiewtvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On my Dr's suggestion I made lots of homemade veggie soups with beans , lentils etc added for protein and blended to liquid. They were healthy, yummy, satisfying and extra bonus they tasted like real food.(Probably because they are). In Aus we tend to focus more on proper, natural foods rather than commercial, processed, artificial ones -
I think that your Mum should just turn off Dr Oz. I beleieve he is a complete and utter quack and most of the stuff on his show is rubbish. I did watch about 5 minutes of the show that showed these supposed lapband patients and the couple of teaspoons of food that they eat daily. That is so false, that is not what a band is about and that is not how we eat.

I believe that you can get the same result by vacuum sealing meat in a bag and then cooking it in hot water. You may want to try looking that up on the net - a vacuum selaer might be a cheaper option.

Banded September 2009 And It's Getting Harder!
elcee replied to sfchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am actually going to suggest the opposite to Corrigan. Try sucking crushed ice. It is possible that you are swollen from the vomiting and ice helps to reduce swelling. So think ice as being first aid when you have a problem. Warm liquids help to relax a stressed or tight band and are good first thing in the morning. -
No Lap Band Fill After 2 Months & Still Losing?
elcee replied to Cynsayshun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes you are correct -
Looking at it again and the sum would make far more sense if it had brackets in , the lack thereof is what leads to the confusion!

You can add as many "1s" as you want it won't change the answer - it is x zero and anything times zero is always zero!
