  1. Make soup and freeze it. You very quickly get tired of everything you eat being sweet. Soups taste like real food and are more satisfying than Jello and shakes. They also helped resolve my nausea.

    No Surgery Fix....

No we haven't, that is why we are all part of this community. Had we been able to lose and keep weight off without surgery we wouldn't have needed to get banded.

    Issues In Other Areas

Yes exactly. But what strikes me as strange is that the Op has obviously had a really terrible experience with the sleeve yet kj was able to post a positive encouraging message. When anything even slightly bad happens with the band she just gets stuck straight in. Weird isn't it.

Having To Start A New Beginning

I have no idea how long you have been banded but it is definitely a life long battle. Having a band doesn't mean that we can surrender and wave the white flag , it just gives us the tools to keep fighting.

    Weight Loss Slowing Down

Time of day, what clothes you were or weren't wearing etc. So if you have been weighing yourself at home , the same time every day and your scale shows a loss then you probably have lost. But as your Dr says it doesn't really amtter because you haven't gained. Everyone hits a plateau at some point. So long as you stick with the programme you will start losing again.
  6. Try sucking on crushed ice. The stuck item has probably caused swelling and ice will help to reduce this. The stuck item should then be able to move. If that works you need to baby your band for a couple of days - back to liquids, then soft foods and take it slowly. After a fill you have to relearn how to eat. What food did you get stuck on?
  7. 1300 - 1500 calories is still a lot for weight loss. Whether they are good or bad calories doesn't make any difference they are still calories. The old recommendations for weight loss used to be 1000 cal per day. I would suggest you cut your calories and see what happens.
  8. Are you stuck? Are you in pain? Are you able to eat? More importantly are you able to drink? These are the questions you should be answering before considering an unfill. Stomach noises are a non issue. Post band my stomach makes noises all the time and I think a lot of other bandster's stomachs do too. A noisy stomach does not signify that you are too tight, it also doesn't signify that you are hungry which is something a lot of people still seem to think. In fact I am sitting here having just woken up, drinking my first cup of tea for the morning and my stomach sounds as though some monster has just woken from it's hibernation!
  9. I also couldn't stand the fact that everything was so sweet. My nausea finally went when I was allowed proper Soups. They tasted like proper food and weren't sweet - far better than shakes. I had made a batch of soups in advance and frozen them. Various veggies e.g broccolli or pumpkin or cauliflower and I added chickpeas, lentils etc for extra Protein. Some I spiced up, others were more plain.

    Nervous To Eat

Aren't you the lucky one! LOL I think for most people getting stuck is far worse than this, especially the first couple of times.
  11. It is good to hear from someone that has been banded for so long and is still doing well. We need to hear the positive stories like these as it seems that too often it is only the people who are struggling that post which gives a very skewed negative portrayal of life post band.
  12. My mother has had sciatica for years and nothing she has tried has cured it. The TENS machine helps a bit , so does the magnet that she wears on her clothes but I don't think she is ever completely pain free. If someone does know of a solution that works other than surgery please let us know.
  13. I know you are mad and upset but calm down a little and think about it. To me it makes perfect sense. Everybody should do what they are best at. Your surgeons area of expertise is surgery, his/her valuable time is best spent doing that. The Dr on the other hand is better trained at patient care, follow up etc. the modern work model actually revolves around teams. A group of people utilising their best skills to produce the desired outcome. So long as the Dr has been properly trained and so long as you have access to the surgeon should a problem occur then I think this is a solution that could work really well. In fact I think more Drs should adopt this model. It would be so much easier( and cheaper) if I could go to my GP when I needed a fill. It would also be good to know that the GP understood about the band and how it worked instead of me having to explain things all the time. There are very few types of surgery where you continue to see the surgeon after you have healed from surgery. Once the initial postop healing period is over you are normally encouraged to see your GP. e.g I had a hysterectomy last year - I don't get to go back to the gynae unless there is a major problem. My first port of call is my GP and if it is an issue that she can't solve then I will be referred back to the specialist.

    Popcorn And Nuts

You can eat them but you need to be careful. I would consider both of these to be slider foods i.e foods that go down easily which the band does not limit you from eating. Whilst nuts are good for you they are still high in fat and calories so should only be consumed in small quantities. Alcohol can be consumed but again it is full of empty calories. You may find that it affects you quicker as well as you won't have as much food in your stomach to help slow down its affects. My practice encourages a glass of wine over other types of alcohol as wine does supposedly have some health benefits.

    So Discouraged

Maybe your band was just too tight. A small unfill may have made a huge difference. Where are you at now - are you completely unfilled or do you have some Fluid back in your band? You need to get back to your Dr ASAP. If you don't go back he can't help you. You haven't failed. All you have to do is go back to your Dr, start getting filled again and recommit to the healthy eating and exercise that helped you lose the 65lb

  18. If I remember correctly you are the same person that posted not that long ago about wanting to have an unfill before going on holiday so that you could eat more. I am wondering if you have had you band too tight for a while which may have caused the slip or if maybe you kept pushing the limits because your head and stomach were no longer in sync. And i may have also read in another thread that you throw up daily but again I'm not sure. You could get another band, you know it has worked for you previously but it seems as though you have some issues that you should be sorting out first. The sleeve is also a good option but you won't be able to take a holiday from that when you think you want to. That is permanent and once it is done there is no going back. This would be a tough decision to make at such short notice. I hope you manage to make the one that is right for you.
  19. I have the same issue as Cocoabean. I have been complaining about it since I think the upgrade before last but it hasn't been fixed yet. It is really annoying especially when you get the email and click on the link in that and you have to go through from the beginning again. So Alex if you really are real please fix it.
  20. I couldn't possible survive on that either. Why not add some healthy carbs e.g wholegrains, seeds, veg, fruit. Maybe have a couple of nuts. Some yogurt or other dairy. You need more and more variety.
  21. No this is new to me. Although I have heard of diets where you are expected to eat a small piece of Protein every 15minutes. This supposedly increase your metabolism so that you burn fat quicker. Maybe this is what your Dr is trying to achieve. As to whether or not it is scientifically sound I have no idea. But if you can't do what your Dr is telling you to do then the person to query it with is him.
  22. If you don't feel like you are stuck and you can still drink then it probably isn't a stuck or incorrect eating issue. Where exactly is the pain? Maybe the food was off and you have a slight does of food poisoning. Your DH may be less sensitive than you which is why he is not affected. It could be heartburn/reflux.It could be absolutely anything. If you give us more details then we may be able to offer other suggestions but If you are really concerned then the person you should be contacting is your Dr.

    Eating Sugar Makes Me Ill?

It would be good for me to. I find cookies and chocolate way too easy to eat.
  24. It's great to receive good service.
  25. Try liquids for a bit longer and when you do soft try mushy rather than flaky.
