  1. Breakfast was some sultana bran with l'f milk. Snack was a bowl of homemade veggie soup. Snack 2 - sultanas! Lunch will probably be some left over lamb rogan josh and I have no idea what I am cooking for dinner.
  2. What is the connection between the airbubbles and the lapband?
  3. It just shows that even when we think our bands are not doing anything for us they really are. When do you go for your revision Jean, hopefully soon? I think the worst part must be having to go through that post op diet thing for a second time and it is even stricter with a sleeve isn't it? Tammy you can only do your best. Try to snack on healthy stuff. Maybe take advantage and eat the low cal filling foods that you were unable to with a properly adjusted band e.g raw carrots, celery etc I only had my fill out (except 2ml) for 10 days and managed to not really gain, not sure how as I felt like I was eating everything in sight. I am now trying to consciously make an effort to not go crazy as it still doesn't feel like I have much restriction although it is definetly better than it was.

    Need Advice

I think you should switch Drs, it sounds as though the support that you have been getting is not what it should have been. They should not have made your band so tight that you were always sick, that is what would have caused your slip. You also should not have needed phentermine - it shouldn't be necessary with a properly adjusted band. I also do think that there may have been some expectation on your part that the band was a magic wand that would magically make all the weight disappear. This is not true, in order to lose the weight and keep it off a person has to do their part. Stick to the rules, make healthy choices, exercise etc. And this is true no matter what type of WLS you have. It sounds as though your Dr is antiband and would have preferred you to have the bypass from the beginning which may explain their abysmal aftercare. I would not be having my revision surgery with this Dr. I think you need to examine what you want, look at the pros and cons of each and then decide what kind of surgery to have. With bypass yes you will lose weight quicker but once the initial period of 1 to 2 years is over if you have not changed your eating habits then you can put it all back on. That is why many people end up having a second surgery such as band over bypass. Good luck in coming to the right decision for you

    Help With The Band

Shocked that you have had your band for nearly 3 years and that you haven't received the help and guidance that you should have. The throwing up was probably from not adjusting your eating style. You do need to take small bites, chew well, wait between bites etc to make sure that throwing up doesn't happen. The suggestions above are great. If your Dr is not willing to work with you then I would be transferring to a new one. Joining LBT should help too, lots of people here with lots of experience to answer all your questions. Hope you soon start achieving the losses that you desire.

    Sugar Land

I have never heard of Sugarland but it sounds like one place where a dieter would need all the help and support they can get!
  7. I think that you will need surgery to correct it as if left it could lead to further issues. Reflux, damaged oesophagus etc. But the best person to answer this is your Dr. You should go and see him so that you can find out what is going on. It may be a minor slip which may be able to be fixed by unfilling for a while.
  8. Hi Erin I was wondering what had happened to you.I remember you struggling a lot with the band initially. I am wondering if the problems that you have had are because you were relatively young and maybe not emotionally ready for the changes that would need to come with being banded. I think a lot of us hope(even though we are told otherwise) that the band will be a magical wand and that the excess weight will just fall off. Unfortunately that is not true and losing weight even with a band requires dedication and commitment. I think you need to go back to your team and discuss the issues that you are having. You probably need to work with a psychologist to get your head in the right place and a nutritionist to help you plan healthy meals. Some breakfasts can be easily prepared the night before or maybe you could have yogurt or something like that to start the day off well. Do not give up. You are not a failure. The band is still there and it is waiting for you to use it correctly. You are only a failure if you give up. YOU CAN DO THIS.
  9. Cazzy couldn't have said it any better. Ignore the negative Nellies and do what is right for you. I would also report the person that sent you the PM as to do that to try to put someone off is unethical - I wonder how many more people she has tried to scare off.

    Prayers Needed, Please.

Sorry to hear this. Thinking about you and sending you positive thoughts.
  11. Loud stomach noises are normal after a band. Having the runs is not. You could have some kind of food intolerance - commonly to something in a Protein shake if you are using those. It sounds as though you may have some kind of stomach bug , I think you should go and see your Dr.

    Major Itch!!!!!! Help!

It is highly unlikely that your body is rejecting the band. The most likely explanation is that you are allergic to the tapes or adhesives on the tape. Take the antihistamines and hard as it might be try not to scratch. I am sure that you will be fine

    Question

I would just say that I would prefer to serve myself as I am watching my weight/trying to be healthy. If they don't like it then let them dish up for you and just eat what you want, once they see how much you waste they will probably get the message.
  14. If you have given it a month and you still can't eat solids I would say it is time to go back and get a slight unfill. If you carry on with mainly liquids you won't lose weight, you will get more stressed and you could do some damage. Go and see your Dr so you can be comfortable again and use the band the way it is meant to be used.
  15. Thanks Tammy I have a 10ml Allergan lapband. The reflux does concern me as I have read so many stories on here about people who have issues. It seems really strange that my band is not tight, that I can eat almost anything yet sometimes at night it becomes an issue. i think it may be from an undiagnosed hernia but I am not sure. When I went to the Dr yesterday he said that the reason I had the really bad reflux after the vomiting is that there was probably still something obstructing the stoma and that this caused the issues. He did say that the reflux that I had been experiencing prior to this may have indicated that the stomach had moved slightly previously so I understand what you say about the stomach "slipping" but not being slipped. It seems that for some reason there may be a very fine line between just right and too much. He gave me 2ml back yesterday and wants to see me again in 4 weeks. I can tell there is some difference as this morning is the first morning in ages that I haven't felt it necessary to get up and have a couple of Cookies with my morning cuppa!
  16. That's not good. Saw my Dr this afternoon, he was happy that everything is fine with the band. He said that normally after an episode like this they will let it rest for about 4 weeks before refilling but after I told him I was thinking of eating 1 of my horses he decided that to put 2ml back in should be OK. I have an appointment to see him again in 4 weeks but I will see how I go, if I can avoid having to pay for an appointment I will.
  17. Are you eating too much or not chewing properly or not waiting between bites? The first thing you need to do is make sure that you are following the rules as to how to eat. If you are then maybe it is the type of food that you are eating. Try making a note of what effects you and then avoid that for a while. Try eating a bit less at each meal as you may be eating too much. If none of these things help then you need to go back and see your Dr.

    Ok, So Yeah...

Dr's prefer you to eat your calories not drink them. The band is designed to work with solid food not liquids, however lots of bandsters are too tight to eat in the morning so they have a shake for breakfast. Maybe you could have yogurt instead and he might be happier with that.
  19. I am off to see my Dr this afternoon. I ended up in emergency 10 days ago after a bad stuck, vomiting and then reflux so bad that i could not lie down. They took out 4ml and left me with 2ml.They also did a CT and the Dr that looked at it told me that it looked as though everything was fine although he is not an expert. I can definitely feel the difference. I sometimes think it is like having no band but it must be having some effect as when I went out for my daughters Birthday last week I was satisfied with a burger patty and some (way too many) chips, I did not attempt the bun. It is amazing though how fast I am eating now that I can and how at the end of a meal I am still hungry and could easily eat more. I did take advantage this morning and had a yummy toasted hot X bun for Breakfast as I know they will be back off the menu if I get filled again. So fingers crossed that everything is OK. Jean sorry to hear about your problems and that you are having to revise. I am sure that some people must be gloating ovr that piece of info. Tammy hope your problem gets sorted out and that no further intervention is required.
  20. For some reason I can't load the video but if it is the one that I think it is then what is missing is FOOD. If these are the ladies that survive on a couple of teaspoons a day they are not using the band the way it is supposed to be used, they are probably too tight and I would even hazard a guess that they are lying about what they eat.

    Tasting Food Again

You are lucky if you don't have a sweet tooth. chocolate is way to easy to eat even with a band - I think it might be a guy vs girl thing - us girls seem to be way more into chocolate. It is good that you have taken this positive step for your health, especially now you have a daughter, you want to be able to keep up with her once she starts toddling. I'm just outside Ballarat.

    Newbie Post-Op!

Congrats. You will be able to chew soon enough so don't stress. Although it seems like this stage lasts forever in reality it is only a very short time. Enjoy on Friday
  23. If you are unable to pee you need to speak to your Dr urgently. It is important that your kidneys are working properly. After my hysterectomy I was fine whilst on the drip but once they took it out I obviously wasn't drinking enough , therefore not peeing enough and the nurses were very concerned. I had to consciously make myself drink. You may not be drinking enough so make sure you drink the recommended amounts even if you are not thirsty. If you are drinking and still not peeing then get back to your Dr - fast.

    Banded At 6Cc's

I agree that you may need a slight unfill as if you can't eat healthy foods you are too tight, but I do not believe that starbucks and chicken nuggets are the only things that will go down. If you can eat those then surely you could also have something like a Protein shake or yogurt which are far healthier. Go and get some fill taken out and start making proper, healthy choices.
