  1. Color... I totally agree with you. I was banded on March 30 and just had my second fill and now have about 4.4 cc in. As of now, I am suffering none of the bad side effects that I hear talked about and written about on this board. The flip side to that is that I am not losing a huge amount of weight either. This is a lifestyle change and like a ship in the Water, it's going to take time for me to change. If it doesn't take time, then, for me, it won't stick. I've also been working out 5 days a week and am probably in the best physical shape since before I went to college (25+ years ago) and I love that. Overall, I just feel so much better about myself. I drink a small amount of liquid (4 oz) with a meal. I'm not ready to change that and don't know if I ever will be. One-2 pounds of weight loss per week is fine with me. I think it has all been because of the workout/strength training anyway. Thanks for posting because I was feeling a little guilty for not following the program as prescribed. I rarely follow anything as prescribed so I guess it will be the same with the band. I needed the confirmation.
  2. I have a two-part question: Part one: Monday will be my two week post surgery date and I feel as if I am healing and feeling well. I've always had a strong stomach so I've experienced no nausea or eating problems. I'm following the prescribed types of foods--liquids, blender, soft etc., but I wonder if I am eating too much? I am a teacher, and during my teaching day, I feel like I can't get enough to eat. I've been having oatmeal for Breakfast, yogurt for snack, cottage cheese and fruit cup for lunch and by the end of the school day, around 2:30, I'm starving. It all seems like too much eating to me. I noticed today, at home, I don't feel as hungry. It is at dinner time that I get the "full" feeling--to me that is when I can't swallow food any more. Is that what others are feeling? Part two: I'm not losing much weight at all, but I think that is because I am also working out frequently and am probably gaining in muscle--which is fine with me. I do "feel" a difference in my body. I know that I haven't gotten a fill yet, but am wondering what happened in surgery...did the surgery of just putting the band on create a pouch which will get smaller with fills? I don't feel like this part (pre-fill time) was ever explained very well. Any explanations will be extremely appreciated.
  3. Hi everyone, I am 5 days post op and on the thick liquid diet. I have IBS and usually too much liquid in my diet causes dirarrhea. Sure enough, that is what is happening. On Sunday, I transition to blended diet. Is it okay to start incorporating more solid foods now? My plan was to keep it minimal and not overeat. My other problem is an elevated heart rate that also came on today. I feel like I'm on speed. I don't drink caffeine, but feel like I'm jazzed up on it. I did my first work out today and the fitness guy noticed it, but didn't seem all that concern. One other time I felt this way related to diet, was when I did a low-carb diet and about 6 days into it, I had very similar sensations. Anyone else had these similar situations? What'ya do?
  4. Thanks for all your responses. Sometimes it's just good to come here and let it all out. I did take an Immodium and the elevated heart rate is gone also. Because it was Friday evening, I didn't call my doc. I'm almost certain it has something to do with not getting enough of "something" in my diet. I'm trying to stick with mostly liquids and adding very small amounts of blended. I think it will be okay and I need to listen to my body. Thanks for being there.
  5. I've debated over this question myself and I lean more towards the "not telling" of those among us. I don't feel that I am being dishonest, but just private. My partner knows and her best friend, but that is it. I also want to see if it's going to work because I have experienced too much weight loss failure (and humiliation) in my life that I don't want to go up against that scruitiny even if it's just my "perceived" scruitiny. Tomorrow is my surgery and I'm psyched! I've never been this excited about anything in my life. It feels like I am embarking on a totally new journey. I'm thankful to have found this site because the support from the various posts has really been helpful. I look forward to having that in the future.
  6. Hi everyone. I'm so glad I found this site. All the comments and atttitudes are so positive. I'm scheduled for surgery on March 30 and go for all sorts of tests tomorrow. I guess I will get pre-opand post-op diet instructions at that time. As I was surfing for more info on the post-op experience, I saw it listed where asparagus is a no-no food. Is that true? Asparagus is my favorite food of all time. Why is it on the banned list? I can understand something like popcorn, but asparagus? Anyway, I look forward to checking back in here and get help and support from this community. I'm glad I have joined already.
  7. Whew--glad to know. I see all the posts about chocolate and while I love chocolate I can live without it. Never eating asparagus again?.....I'm not so sure I could do it!!! --Thanks for the responses.
