to ever get this far, and then have second thoughts. I've done my seminar, first doc's visit, seen the nutruitionist (love the Protein shakes). My doc said I had to lose 10 percent of my body weight, which for me is 33 pounds. By the end of the first 3 1/2 weeks, I've lost 21 pounds. I've never been on a high protein diet before, and I seem to be thriving on it. I'm not hungry, and, so far, no uncontrollable cravings. I'm so confused. I had myself prepared and ready to have this surgery, and now I find myself wanting to back out and keep on dieting. I didn't know that he would put me on a diet like this. I only knew about the very strict diet I would be on, a couple of weeks before the surgery. The office will be getting me qualified with my insurance after I go in, in another month. I only need to lose 9 more pounds. I don't have much time to change my mind if I really don't want to do this. Any thoughts or opinion--no matter what they are--would be appreciated.

I Know I Am Not the only one.....

The protein mix is called Amaze RX. I buy it at the doctor's office, and get it a little cheaper than online ( amazerx.com). I've only had the Divine Double Chocolate, and the Swiss Vanilla Cream. They have two other flavors, Mocha Zap and Strawberry Cheezecake. -

Thank you Savannah, for the advice and support, and KartMan, you make a very good point. It is keeping the weight off that is the hardest part of all this, and it is impossible to really "diet" the rest of my life. You made me think of a time when I was much younger, and I lost over 100 pounds by taking diet pills. I went to a doctor, and it was all very well supervised. I thought I'd never gain it back, but I did. Thanks for taking time to answer my post. -
Hi Everybody, I'm new to the site. I'm just getting started gathering information about the lap band procedure. I have my first seminar Tues, Mar 24th. I'm reading all the posts to learn as much as I can from those of you who are farther along in the process. Thanks for sharing your information-it sure helps. I'm really nervous about it all, but feel I'm at the place where I need to take this step. I'm retirement age, and am about 150 pounds overweight. I just can't get the weight off by myself. :tt2:

Just Getting Started....

Thank you so much for your post. I'm having a heck of a time trying to get around to everything on this site, and I'm just now reading your reply. There's so much good information here. I'm going to pull up youtube and watch the video you told me about. I've had to start dieting (using Amaza rx) to lose 30 pounds before the doctor will do the surgery, and I can use all the inspiration I can get. :smile2: -
Consultation scheduled for 4/6!
skywalk64 replied to nigh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have my first consultation on the 9th of April. One question I have is about the port, or really the actual tube. I'd like to know if they ever break, or get tangled up or kinked. How would you know if it pulled apart? At the seminar, the doctor told us that the maker of the band guarantees it for the life of the patient. If it breaks, or leaks, they will replace it but, who pays for the surgery? I'm concerned about things that could happen after the surgery, and if my insurance will pay if, God forbid, I would have to have any kind of surgery to fix, replace, or repair the band. I want to ask questions about all these issues.
