My gf and I both had our bands done around the same time. Her weight loss has been quick and mine has been very slow. Would your gf consider having it done with you? Maybe your new eating habits will encourage her to lose weight along with you if she doesnt want to have the band done. And as you both lose together maybe you will be able to share interests ..old or new ones. Yes change is scary but its also wonderful. If the two of you have love ..it will work out. Good luck to you! -

I had the same experience as far as losing more weight much faster on weight watchers. (Obviously didnt KEEP it off that way). I told the nutritionist that because I wasnt losing and she said go back to the WW plan. And that has worked better for me. I am doing the old plan (not the points) -
Yes absolutely. And all the sympathy/empathy in the world wont help unless the person is willing to do whatever it takes.

I agree. I think the information and advice was excellent and someone else who may be in a similar situation may find the information very worth while. So just because it went in a downward spiral for some strange reason doesnt mean it doesnt have value for anyone else who is truly in need of info.
-
Very well said.

Not sure at all how one would not know what hospital they were in to have the surgery and be unable to find out. Very obviously she has other very serious issues going on and hopefully she will seek treatment for herself and certainly for her children's sake.
-
Yes that appears to be the case.

The advice to go to the hospital adminstrator is excellent advice. I dont know about there but I know that I have contacted the hospital administrator (not to do with the lapband but another matter) and I got an immediate call back with immediate action. They dont play around with serious complaints because of the fear of legal action. So if anyone else is having problems like that its an excellent place to start as well as the free legal services you mentioned.

Can anyone else "feel" the lap band inside them?

I dont think I can feel the band but I can feel a little soreness around the port sometimes. I can sometimes feel the tightness of the band in the morning so I think maybe thats the only time but usually only if I am drinking coffee or something. -
Wow that really sucks. I would think that if the doctor refused to treat you knowing that you may have possibly have suffered as a result of his surgery then you would have some sort of case? Sounds like emotional distress is an understatement. Nevermind the physical distress. Can you contact another surgeon and at least have them see if your band has slipped? Maybe there is a surgeon out there who would be willing to help you. What a nightmare.

I think its a really good thing that this type of situation is spoken about on this site. There are so many things that can and do go wrong with some of these doctors. Its horrendous. I think anyone who has had these experiences should definately post. Its a real wake up call to those who have not yet had surgery or for those people who are going thru the same thing. So sorry to hear about all of these terrible terrible experiences.

Absolulely correct about going to the doctor. However you very well may run into red tape or run through a maze of people and rules and regs. You should absolutely get medical attention immediately. You should also get an attorney immediately to start to work on your behalf. Hit it from both ends.
-
What a terrible situation. What you need to do is seek legal advice. See an attorney who will take your case on a contingency basis. The doctor who has mistreated you in this manner needs to be held accountable. He cannot hold your medical records legally. Dont wait on this. The longer you wait the worse it will get. There are many attorneys who will take your case.

I had my surgery on a Friday and went back to work on Monday. I had no choice but I wish I had more time to rest and heal. But I made it thru anyway. I would definately have wished for more time though. Hope you are healing well! -

I tried the vitamins and calcium for several weeks and then just couldnt stand taking them anymore. The calcium is especially horrible. Couldnt choke those down and I really tried. As soon as I went back to my old vitamins (expensive but well worth it) I started to feel better and my old energy came back. I add Vit D and am looking for a calcium citrate pill currently. I just want to swallow it..not have to taste that VILE stuff. -
