I wear spanx all day but don't sleep in them. -
What have you done since you have lost weight that you wouldn't have done previously? I have gotten almost a whole new wardrobe cute underthings wearing dresses flirty hair and soon highlights. What about you?

April 30 surgery - Hungry?
mominkansas replied to middygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What brand split pea do you get or do you make your own? I would like to find some split pea soup that I like! -
I think the doc that is suggesting no Snacks is not being very practical. I think that small healthy snacks are essential with banding. When restriction is right I can eat very little, and snacks are a very important part of my day. 90% of the time they are healthy but most people here would not be honest if they said that they hadn't eaten something that they felt guilty about later. The fact that you are feeling some guilt in my opinion is a step in the right direction! Bottom line is this...my doc told me to enjoy foods that I may not be able to eat after I had full restriction. I wished I had eaten more steaks, more bread, etc. I say to enjoy food while you can without going overboard!

I tend to do Special K protein water after dinner.

I am finding myself getting closer to becoming a vegetarian. I rarely eat meat at this point. All of this is post banding. Before being banded I was a total carnivore but my meat of choice was red meat which I can no longer do. I never ever thought I would ever be writing this post. I never could eat fish and have not been a huge fan of pork or chicken. Chicken at this point is too mediocre for me. Often it is too dry and I have horror stories about being stuck. Even at this time I have no Fluid in my band because of a revision but meat just doesn't do it for me anymore. Is anyone else in the same boat? I do think that I get enough Protein but do admit it is more of a challenge because it tends to get a bit boring. Anyone else? I'd love to hear more.

Port through skin
mominkansas replied to Crystalc2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can feel my port but not quite see it right now. I had a band revision a few weeks ago and was told not to move it but was given the option free of charge since I was being opened up. I decided to skip it. I am terrified of a port infection and had to have my flipped port reanchored a few months after my surgery. If it bothers you I would look into it otherwise as my doc said there is no telling how the port will look in the new place. -
How do people on The Biggest Loser lose so much weight?
mominkansas replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They also have a person that makes most of their food. Give me a Personal trainer, a Chef and a gym like that on my property and I would be a different story! -
need help getting 60 grams of protein, hair starting to thin.
mominkansas replied to mandze90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do the muscle milk light. It does have a funny taste that bothers some but It doesn't bother me. If it does bother you Costo has a shake that has no aftertaste by premiere Protein. I do the mini greek yougerts by yoplait(I think). It has honey with it and I find that it isn't as gritty as the dannon one. I do greek yogert, Protein shakes, Beans, and cheese for my protein. If worse gets to worse get the unjury unflavored powder. It can be added to almost anything. -
Going to a movie theater....how do you handle it?
mominkansas replied to amey_idaho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bring a bottle of water, a tootsie pop and a 100 calorie pack of smart pop white cheddar popcorn, and if I have time I drive through taco bell and take a pinto's and cheese. I am able to eat movie theater popcorn but know that it is uber bad. -
This is why my friends and family don't know. I think this is pretty hard. I've done weight watchers and been able to eat everything in moderation. These days I can't eat many of the foods that I love. No more bread, no more eggs, no more red meat....What is easy about that?

Sounds like a dialated esophagus. Band slip symptoms would not go away when you were upright.

How do you know if your band has moved/slipped?
mominkansas replied to angermom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 2 slips and they were different both times The first Water would not go down and I had a heavy metal taste in my mouth. Under barium I had a complete block. I had a heaviness in my chest and was very uncomfortable. The second I could drink and swallow but still had the metal taste in my mouth. It was not a complete block so water and liquids could pass through my band but very slowly. I had the telltale metal taste in my mouth. A slip is a very unique thing that is almost in my opinion unmistakable. I am recovering from my revision surgery to reposition my band. Once a slip happens it will continue to occur. A unfill will most likely fix the slip but chances are you will reslip eventually. Hope this helps! -
I had revision surgery earlier this week and didn't at all mess with my port. I notice a lot more pain this time. Any else have this happen. On a side note my pouch is much smaller as the band was reposition higher up. I never imagined it smaller!

Has anyone had there port flip???
mominkansas replied to oceancity4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No pain at all. I found out when I went for a fill. I was so overweight for my 1st surgery that they could not find any muscle to sew my port into. As I lost weight my fat disolved leaving the port to be loose. I had a revision and had my port sewn in finally. -

How Much Weight Did you Lose after 2 wks post-op?
mominkansas replied to jenwan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are doing great! 12 pounds in 2 weeks where your diet at times depended on high sodium chicken broth etc. Remember this is a lifestyle change and not a race. You are doing great! -
When my band slipped I had a metal taste in my mouth that I now assume is acid reflux. Hope you feel better soon!

mominkansas posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where is your port now and where would it be if you could change it? I have an opportunity to move my port location. I am on the fence. -

Can you get stuck with in the Full liquid Stage??
mominkansas replied to CynthiaMTR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you did goldfish and then liquid you could have gotten stuck. I find that goldfish sort of gum up.
