PBing much too often!!
mominkansas replied to Agnes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try cutting it down to the coffee cup, even if you have to eat an extra meal. PB'ing during a meal is less worrysome than between meals. Could you be not be chewing well enough? Could you be chewing too well(my fill tech said pulverizing food is bad for you as well). I would note things that make you PB and write them down. I noticed that salty foods always made me PB. My fill tech thinks I am nuts and laughs every time that I tell him that. I told him the same thing about eggs which he though was odd since I have a realize band. Bottom line I think is that these bands are still fairly new. Everyone is still learning about what works and what doesn't. My fill tech has since changed his tune about salty food and eggs. what works for you may make me slime, and vice versa. Feel free to experiment, just make sure to not repeat any mistakes more than you have to. -
Need some inspiration!

There is truly a fine line between no one noticing and people NOT recognizing you at all. I went almost 40 pounds with no change in sizes, no one noticing, nothing........then all of a sudden tons of people can tell. I think you are close. Just wait and keep on doing what you are doing. You are doing great! -

Your meal should fit in a styrofoam coffee cup. What are you eating, when were you filled, and most importantly when do you PB? Is it directly after a meal? In between meals? -
What foods consistently give you trouble?
mominkansas replied to Roxyrannem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anything with fibers. Asparagus, Artichoke Hearts, Carrots, pineapple, etc. I can not eat angel hair or other long pastas, but I can eat shell Pasta, and other shapes. I can't eat most breads, or any eggs. Finally I have a real problem with salty things. Bacon, many Soups, bleu cheese, and other salty foods are no gos for me! -
How does WL eventually stop when you reach goal?
mominkansas replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually got a slight fill today. I talked to my fill tech and he basically said the same as Lellow. you get to know your band well enough to know what you need to do to gain, lose, or maintain. I don't think I am at that point yet, but home to be soon! As of this morning I was at a BMI of 27.4, so I am inching closer to "normal". -
Why I'm considering a lawsuit...

Jenny Craig is about $70 week which would cost the same as one fill a month. Eating healthier costs more, its one of my gripes to tell you the truth. But I have been sick less than I ever had been, I feel better, and I know I will live longer. -
I have lost a little over 60 pounds and have gone from an 18 to a 10. I think that the first 40 pounds I went down one size, the past 20 pounds I went down 3 sizes. I get my jeans at Sam's. They are 9 west and are a bargain at 15.77. I go to Sam's every 2 weeks and pick up a size lower when I go.

Call your doc and try not going to the ER, they tend not to know what to do with banded people(the ER). Also keep us posted!

Post Op Second Thoughts
mominkansas replied to mindiv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so down on myself and hard on myself right after I was banded. I wondered why I couldn't do this on my own. Had I done the right thing? Once the scale started moving and I did as well that changed. It is amazing how much easier I can move these days. I work out at the gym almost daily. I feel so much better and I am so much healthier. I know now this is the best decision I have ever made! -
Last night I drank some Water while in bed. I propped myself up on one arm and drank a few sips. I will say I was very thirsty so I may have been a bit tight for this reason. The water wouldn't stay down, I was almost refluxy. Has this happened to any of you? It was quite scary and I wondered what went wrong?

Being converted to gastric bypass......
mominkansas replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are eating celery and apples with skin(you didn't say) I think you may need more restriction. -
I am having a hard time deciding if I should cancel or keep my fill appointment for this week. I am super tight in the morning which I think is somewhat common. I tend every once in a while to slime after meals which my tech says is normal for the "waterfall" flow my band has. I am hungrier between meals. It was before that I could literally go all day and not even think about food. I haven't had a fill since October and have lost almost 60 pounds since I was banded in May of this year. Not complaining as I only have about 25 pounds to go. Advice please? Thanks!

Getting Frustrated
mominkansas replied to Irishbookworm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many times do you eat a day? Your better eating good foods more often at the point that you are at than the regular 3 meals a day. -
I do hot liquids. Even a protein shake for me is too much. After I get my kids to school I tend to be looser and then can eat a little something.

Please help me...I'm at the end of my rope here
mominkansas replied to tallymia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you also find a support group in your area. My husband and Mother in Law are the only two that know I had this done. Many days I have been frustrated and have really found support in my group! Congrats for jumping back on, and good luck! -
What is happening to me? OMG!
mominkansas replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told a pencil. We talked about pills getting stuck at our last monthly meeting. Vitamins especially are acid based and if they sit in your opening for a while can give you a slight acid burn which can irritate you for a few days. -
Scars!?! Would you...
mominkansas replied to Cupcake1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heck yeah! I started in an 18 and graduated to a size 10 in a little over 6 months. Totally worth it! -
Being converted to gastric bypass......
mominkansas replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would try tweaking your band by getting a fill and sticking it out a bit more before doing something so drastic. I don't think my body could handle such a huge surgery so soon after my first. -
does anyone eat these? I was thinking the portion size is just about perfect, but wondered about the sodium, etc. Does anyone do these and how does your band do with them? Thanks!

YOu have to know that you are puffy for at least a week from all the fluids they run through you during surgery. Keep on truckin and make sure to drink plenty of water! -
first time vomiting and pain
mominkansas replied to playhead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long did you wait before you went to bed? I find eating and then going to bed(especially meats and heavy food) weighs on my and sometimes I will have to get rid of it. when you say pain was it pain or discomfort? -
Drinking water to clear blockage
mominkansas replied to john47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean not like real vomiting? Carrots are something that I can't do. Anything with "fibers" in them like carrots, asparagus, celery, and artichoke hearts are nonos. -
substitutes for things you miss?
mominkansas posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just finishing a package of Thai Kitchen noodles. I have been missing Thai food but can't take the salt any longer. These noodles are pretty good and have under 750 grams of sodium. What have you found for the things you miss that aren't really bad for you but you've had to give up. -
Book for Bandsters???
mominkansas replied to ChrisW123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Read the reviews on amazon. I bought one and didn't read the reviews. There is tons of bread, and sugar in the recipies and I ended up donating it. -
I had one side of port come undone. I had it restitched. Try to get them to stitch it to mesh. It helps make it a more permanent thing.
