Should I ride my motorcycle now that I'm 270lbs? Okay here is my story, a few years ago I purchased a sports bike (which I love to ride). I was about 200 to 215lbs when I got it and I rode any chance I got. It was like my therapy and it worked every time. Well about two years after I got it my then boyfriend, now husband took it for a ride without my permission and crashed into a wall head on:mad3: . He was fine but my bike was not:laugh: . It was going to take $2,500 to fix so we kept putting it off for other things. This past weekend my husband decided to surprise me and take it to the shop. It will be ready next week, but now I'm having second thoughts about riding because I have gone up to 270lbs and my riding gear doesn't fit. It's not just that I have to buy a new jacket it's that I don't want to look like a circus attraction! :blushing:I can just picture me on my bike and people looking at me all weird, trying to figure out why there is only a tire sticking out of my fat @$$!! :crying: I mean I really, really, really want to ride and I don't think I can wait until I lose weight after the Lap-band surgery. Any suggestions? Divis

Hello Lady's I need some info on PCOS and who better to ask than women that have lived it. Here is my situation. About a yr ago I confirmed I had several cysts and fibroid (PCOS). But as the doctor put it "none where in a location to cause immediate alarm, and removing them would cause more damage than help". They put me back on birth control and sent me on my way. It has now been a year and I just had a follow up ultrasound 2 weeks ago. I received a letter that said that the fibroid has grown but "no further evaluation/treatment is needed". WTF?! Is that it? Is that "normal"? I have a follow up with my doc in 2 weeks but its to check my progress on a diet pill she prescribed (Meridia, which by the way is not making a big difference). I'm trying to get as much info as I can so I can make sure that my PCOS is being treated correctly. So that is hopefully where you lady's come in, please tell me your experiences and treatments (Good or bad). I am 31 yrs 275lbs. and luckily have no diabetes, high blood pressure or heart problems yet... :cursing:

So I just got word today that my cousin is expecting. I know the news should make me happy but it didn't. Let me explain why. My cousin is only a year older than me but we've lead very different life styles. I've been overweight for about 10 years now and she has been overweight all her life. She never works and is just interested in parting and getting welfare. I've been working multiple labor intensive jobs to support my mother and 4 sibling since I was 16. She has diabetes and all that comes with it, kidney problems and so on and so forth. I've been killing myself on diets and at the gym for years now to avoid all that comes with obesity and so far I have. She has never worried about her health and has had 2 children, a girl and a boy. Unfortunately both are disabled one physically and the other mentally due largely to her abusing drugs while she was pregnant!!!! Yup you read it right, she did drugs while she was pregnant. To top it off she is currently in a custody battle for her son with her recently paroled baby daddy and get this...... he might get custody! My husband and I took our time to make sure we are emotionally and financially ready to have a child and then we find out I can't because I have PCOS. To make matters worse I don't qualify for the lap-band through my insurance for another 2 years. BUT SHE'S PREGNANT!!!!! WTF?! I did everything I was suppose to and as much as I love my cousin I can't help feeling hurt by the situation. I've never felt this way before, someone please tell me if I'm just being petty and jealous. I want to be happy for her but I can't help feeling like she doesn't deserve it. Has anyone ever felt the same way?

She's pregnant and I'm pissed!!!

First off I'd like to thank everyone for all the advise, understanding and support. After a couple of days of thinking I realized something that gave me a great deal of comfort. I might have never been pregnant but I've gotten to "mother" plenty of children. 4 siblings, 2 nephews, 2 nieces and 2 godchildren. So even if that's all I get in my lifetime, I wouldn't change a thing. Oh and by the way I have a doctors app. coming up soon where I will be asking my doctor about Metformin.. Thanks again everyone. -
Hi everyone, I was just wondering how many of you had your doctors recommend weight loss surgery after knowing you had PCOS? Did any of you bring up the option to them? What was the census? I only ask because my primary doctor was a witch!! :w00t: When I brought up the subject she just told me to lose weight! As I tried to explain that I HAD tried to lose weight and that I was on a strict 1200 calorie diet, and worked out with a personal trainer 4 times a week for 2-3 hours a day. She just looked away got a pamphlet for obesity and gave me a number for a nutritionist (which is Not covered by my ins.). Divis

Thanks, I will try to get my records from my old doctor. But I was just wondering do I need to have records of my weight for each year? Because I'm not sure I went to the doc each year in a row. -

I have been to the doctor for debilitating back pain for about eight years now, but never for my weight. I don't know if I can just get my records and show them that I was over weight then too. Would that count? -

Hi Everyone, I received a letter yesterday denying my claim. I just got off the phone with BCBS and I was informed that my Doc did not include enough info and that I needed to have my 5 year medical history of Morbid Obesity by medical record submitted. Here is my problem, I just got BCBS 2 years ago and prior to that I had Kaiser. But Kaiser never addressed my weight. I went and got a personal trainer and did stuff like that but I never discussed my weight with my doc until two years ago. Does this mean I have to wait 3 more year before I should re-apply? Is there any other type of info I can submit on my behalf? Did you all submit a 5 year "medical" history? I've been over weight for about ten years now and so far I've been fortunate enough to avoid getting diabetes and high blood pressure. But now I'm borderline and I'm afraid if I wait 3 years I will develop them. I need help!!!! I'm sooooo bumbed  -
Yup I had to do the 6 month Dr.'s supervised diet. I just finished and am waiting to hear back to see if I was approved for surgery. The 6 month wait was not as bad for me but the waiting for a response is hell!! Hang in there. :bored:

Okay so I have BCBS of IL. and I wanted to know if anyone has gone through the the psychological evaluation yet. Can anyone tell me what it entails? Was anyone on antidepressants? Has anyone ever been denied because of it?

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor N E 1 in The Inland Empire, California?
Divis posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I'm searching for other people who have had the lap-band done (or in the process) and live in the I.E. I would love to hear about your experiences so far and compare notes if you will. I would really enjoy talking to someone who is going through the same experiences that I am.:wink: -
Mrs. Poochie I just went to the "Pregnancy with Lap-Band" forum and came across a post that's labeled "Just found out I'm pregnant" you should take a look. It's about a woman with endometriosis and PCOS getting pregnant 4 month after getting banded without even trying. (Not trying to rub anything in). Proof that there's still hope.

I have not been banded yet, I'm doing it in September (if all goes well). But I did a lot of research and finally gave in after trying all I could to lose the weight. As soon as I stopped taking birth control and tried to conceive and I started to gain weight and that's when I realized I was not ovulating. I'm told by my doctor that the band is one of the best ways of reaching my goal of having children. She did mention that if I where to put it off for a while and stay at my current weight I run the risk of becoming permanently infertile. I have not tried IVF because of the health risk of becoming pregnant to both me and a baby at my current weight. Not to mention the cost. I made a deal with my husband if I lose the weight and still can't get pregnant instead of IVF we are going to adopt. I would still like to adopt even if I can have children that way I can make sure to pick a cute one instead of running the risk of them looking like me! :ack2: :frown: By the way congrats Marie, 80lbs wow!!:welldone2:

Hi Mrs.Poochie, My husband and I just started talking about having kids about a year and a half now, we too are having trouble conceiving. I just found out at the beginning of the year that I to have PCOS and I am just now learning about all its affects. I understand the frustration of telling your doctor that you are trying everything to lose weight and it just isn't happening. I was on a strict 1500 calorie and was hitting the gym at least 4 days a week for 3 hours every day, an hour alone on cardio. I had a personal trainer and a nutritionist and only manage to lose 25LBS in seven months! That's a little over a pound a week and I was killing myself! I then had a family emergency and could not make it to the gym for about a month and a half and gained every pound back plus 10 more!! When I saw my first doctor she just dismissed all I was telling her and told me to just "lose weight" as if I wasn't trying to. Luckily I have a new doctor who suggested I have weight loss surgery so that it will be easier to conceive and carry a child to term without any complications. She informed me that once you gain weight while having PCOS it's virtually impossible to lose a significant amount of weight. Of course everyone is different, what works for some women might not work for others. Just look at it this way at the very least you will have a healthier body and feel better too. Wishing you the best of luck!

I don't want this to become a religous debate but I am looking for some questions
Divis replied to babygrl1234's topic in Rants & Raves
Okay here are my age old questions they are probably silly but here it goes anyway. If Adam and Eve where the only two people around and they alone began to populate the earth, does that mean their children practiced incest? Then are we all related by blood? If a murderer repents and gets into heaven does he bump into his victim? Wont that be awkward? What if I get into heaven but a loved one doesn't, will I get to see them? Can you visit them in hell? I think I would miss them. -
Okay I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem after weight loss surgery with that loose skin that waddles back and forth every time you wave at someone. I figure I notice it now so how bad is it going to be after a significant weight loss? I don't want to look like I can take to flight at any moment by just spreading my arms! LOL! Any suggestions on how to avoid it?

Actually Beth I don't put much thought into what is written in the bible. I figure since God himself didn't write it how can I trust in people that claim to be prophets and are supposedly not doing it for narcissistic reasons. It's kind of like playing telephone. The bible has been altered so many times since it was started that I cannot in good faith believe ALL its pages. I know others do and find comfort in it and I think that's great, but not me. I have too many doubts.

Wow, I just skimmed through this thread and let me just say ! "I" believe like most that everyone has the right to an opinion, whether "I" agree with it or not. That being said here is mine. "I" believe that if a homosexual couple wants to get married then so be it. "I" am no one to judge two people for wanting to love each other. "I" personally think that religion is a man made creation. I believe in God wholeheartedly and "I" don't believe God would want me to judge, discriminate or alienate anyone with whatever excuse "I" might use to justify it. "I" think that if you really have no problem with homosexuality than you should have no problem with them getting married and calling just that. After all "I" don't believe God will be as hung up on the terminology as we are. Furthermore "I" believe if you really want to protect the sanctity of marriage other marital issue should take precedence over gay marriage such as polygamist marriages to underage girls which are hurting hundreds of children. Then again polygamists stay out of view and don't really announce what they do to anyone and after all that's really what everyone is afraid of. Out of sight out of mind, right?

I was just wondering if anyone had BCBS of IL. and was trying to get their surgery done at the Weight Loss Centers (Top Surgeons) in Beverly Hills, Ca with Dr. Salimitari or Dr. Tourah? I wanted to know if anyone has had any issues with getting approved by BCBS with them. Any out of pocket or surprise costs? Any info that can be provided would be appreciated. Thanks, Divis  -

Hello, I'm sorry to bother you again but I was wondering if you could tell me who your insurance carrier is? The reason I ask is because I have BCBS of IL. and I hear they are a hand full. I also wanted to know if you had any issues with the doctors office filling paper work to your insurance or any surprise expenses? Any info you can give me would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Divis

Can anyone walk me through the process they had to go through with BCBS of IL. PPO? Everything from start to finish, please. I am still in the middle of my 6 month medical supervision and I want to make sure that both my doctors and I are doing all we should. Please spare no detail, even if you think it is something that might just have applied to you. I really want to get the lap-band and I don't want to give the insurance company a reason to deny me. I know many people have had issue's with BCBS so anything you can help me avoid would be soooooooo great! Thanks, I'm all ears!! Divis :w00t:

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor In Ca, I.E. Or Anywhere! Just Need Guidance
Divis posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I'm looking for someone to help guide me through a very new experience. I just started the process in January and my insurance requires me to have 6 months of medical supervision so with any luck I am looking at a Sept. surgery. I would just like to talk to anyone else that has gone through the process to make sure that I am not leaving any steps out or that my doctor is doing what he is suppose to. Can anyone help, PLEASE?!! I'm all ears Divis -
sherryaperez, I know exactly what you are talking about. I also went to them at their Beverly Hills site and did the same research. I spoke with different women who have had their surgery done with them and all are happy so far. I was just there for an endoscopy two weeks ago. The doctor you are talking about Dr. Omiri does not do any surgeries and I hear nothing but good thing about Dr Salimitari. As a matter of fact I freaked out and contacted someone who had origonally posted about Omiri and this is what she sent me back. I freaked out too. But, Dr. Salimatari called me personally and told me a few things which helped me make the decision to go through them. 1. Dr. Omidi (the one who's license was revoked does not do surgeries, he handles paperwork). The one doing the surgeries is Dr. Salimatari and I researched him and he has no history of malpractice. 2. Dr. Salimatari has done over 200 lap band surgeries as of December of 2008. I have also spoken to some of his patients and they have all positive experiences with him. 3. Top Surgeons is the least expensive place for me, after I researched other surgery centers in my area. 4. This is not brain surgery. The risks of complications are very low. I am more likely to have more health problems if I don't do the surgery. I researched and really considered all this before surgery. I chose to have the surgery and I am so glad I did. Dr. Salamitari has been great, the surgery went better than I expected and I have lost 50 lbs since. If you have any other questions just Google his name and even this site will come up with different people posting about him. Hope this was helpfull. Divis
