    August Band Crew!!!!!

From one Lisa to another, welcome! :clap2: It's interesting to me to read here and find how different the pre and post-op instructions are surgeon to surgeon.
  2. PLEASE do not let anyone "talk you into it". Go to the seminars, read everyting you can find, and make the decision for you. Your friends and family probably love you, and want what they think is best for you, but they are the ones who will have to live 24/7 with the results. That said, DH has been banded for 2 years, and he says he would do it again in a heartbeat.
  3. My surgeon does them, 5 medifast a day, but we also get a small(200-300 cal) meal every day too. Which I think will be my saving grace!

TerryB - COOL! Having loose clothes and people notice is such a great sign you are getting smaller.

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Thanks! Dr M is great, isn't he? He did DH's banding 2 years ago. Yep, I talked to Linda, and I love that saying. Jessie uses it too, in fact I almost posted "What if I AM that special"! :rolleyes I've been sooo excited, I set this all up way back in June, and now that it's suddenly so close it seems more real.

    Insenstive or too sensitive

LOL I like that  Better yet, she needs to list the clothes, then e-mail the E-bay link to the snot who gave them to her with the subject "thought you might be shopping for some new stuff"!

    August Band Crew!!!!!

I am on day 4 of my 2 week pre-op diet. 5 Medifast shakes a day, and a small (200-300 cal) meal. 10 more days of this! :faint: I’m hungry and cranky. And tired because my brand-new CPAP machine is annoying. The mask makes my nose hurt. :hurt Yeah, I can try different ones, but I have to drive downtown, about an hour if there is any traffic. I’m having second thoughts about this surgery thing, it’s a lot of money! And what if it doesn’t work? <O:p</O:p <O:p OK, I think that’s it. For now.

    Insenstive or too sensitive

Well, I do think this is truly annoying, but I also think you just have to chill. Don't talk to her about how much you've lost, or how many sizes, all that. You could either just take the clothes and say something like "thanks - do you mind if I pass along stuff that's too big for me?" maybe? 30 pounds is indeed great!

    Can't make up my mind!!!

What are you scared of exactly? The idea of having surgery, or something else? Couple of things I did 1)make a list of all the things I've tried to lose weight over the years that didn't work long-term. That helped me to see that I have really tried other methods, which was important to me. 2)I did a pro/con list for having surgery.

    Restaurants...

Hubby has a card, sounds like what mysherrijo got. We've used it a couple of times to order from the kids menu when the waitress balked. Both times they were very nice about it when shown the card and allowed him to order after all.

    Shame on Golden Corral.

I wouldn't expect one, but I do think it would be smart of buffet places to offer one. To attract groups with a banded member that might not otherwise eat there.

    Water weight loss?

I’ve never really understood this, and given that I started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet this morning, and have been in the bathroom many times, I’m wondering about how it works. <O:p I’ve always heard that the initial weight lost is water weight. And I don’t understand why/how that works. I drink a lot of water all the time, but it seems to me that either 1)I’ve been carrying ‘extra’ water my body didn’t need, or doesn’t now that I’m not eating much, or 2)I’m getting dehydrated, which doesn’t make sense given that I’m drinking so much of it, and feel fine. <O:p</O:pHelp?<O:p</O:p

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Hi fellow Augusters. I'm on day 1 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet, and all I can say is that it's gonna be a loooonnnngggg two weeks.:faint: Started today with our summer BBQ at work. I snuck out and went shopping at lunchtime, I knew I couldn't be around all that yummy food. Bought my Isopure protein drinks, Gas-X strips and Icy-Hot patches for post-surgery. And a really cool pair of brown pants that are a size too small, a reward for commiting to the two-week pre-diet...

    What do others do?

Could you do something with your kid? Go for a walk, ride bikes, go play at the park?
