    Two milestones

First one, I got my first fill Thursday. Started with 3.0, but then when drinking Water afterwards I was gurgeling a LOT, so she took out .5. I've been lucky, I've had some restriction since surgery, so this might do it for a while. It was a breeze, she found the port right away, a little pinch and I was done. Both times. Second one, I had my first PB last night. Was eating smoked salmon and some crackers, got distracted and didn't chew enough. Felt that infamous "golf ball" that I've been hearing about, and up it came. Wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was afraid it would be. Not that I'm anxious to repeat it! I've been being careful so far today, had a latte and plan to stick to softer stuff.

    Sleep study?

I have the same relationship with mine. I really like how much better I'm feeling, and sleeping. DH likes it because he's sleeping better(I snored quite loudly). But I would so much rather sleep like this without it. I'm hoping when I lose enough weight, I can retire my machine with honors. I actually got tested and treated because of my lap-band surgeon's requiring me to, and I'm grateful he did.

    Catheter for guys??

DH didn't have one. Much to his relief!

    Sleep study?

My sleep doctor told me that he's really glad more surgeons are including a sleep study as part of the pre-op. He heard too many stories of people having problems post surgery due to undiagnosed apnea.

how much fill is in your VG 11 cm band

I got my first fill last week - she put in 3 ccs, but I was gurgleing a lot drinking water after that, so she took out .5. So, I'm at 2.5 and I think I am going to stay here for a while. I feel restriction, and I'm losing.

    Two milestones

Thanks Susan - I just didn't chew well enough. I was distracted and not paying attention. Good lesson!

    I'm not asking for anything

I'm so sorry, losing a parent young is hard. Your tribute to her is wonderful.
  8. My doctor sometimes puts a small fill in during surgery, I didn't get one. And yes, they wait 6 weeks. The idea is to allow plenty of time to heal, so I kept reminding myself of that. I was lucky I know, I had some restriction. And I got my first fill yesterday.

    The decision is made!

Congrats on your decision! This board has been wonderful for me. I'm so thrilled so far with my decision.

    Another Phony E-mail Refuted

I've heard people say that a married man couldn't get a vasectomey without his wife's permission as well.

    burping

Me too!! I've read that it's from swallowing air when eating or drinking. I haven't figured that out totally yet, but did notice that I tend to slurp when drinking hot things, like coffee, so I've been watching that and it seems to help. Something about there being less space for air to escape now.

    Lap band costs...

We did home equity also, for both DH two years ago and then me. We joke that DH has my new kitchen in him, I have his new car in me! And honestly, that was part of how I was OK with spending the money. I could have spent a lot more on a car, that I'd drive what, 7 years?, and that wouldn't improve my life nearly as much.

    Gynecology revisited

Yep, hoochie mama is a great descriptive term!

    Gynecology revisited

The second - I wasn't sure of the spelling. I like the word "Hoochie" in general. No idea why.

    Gynecology revisited

LOL :heh: I like vay-jay-jay. A friend uses "spot" when talking to her daughter. I sometimes use "Hotchie"

    Another Phony E-mail Refuted

Butting in her a bit, that's not what she said. The point, at least as I read it, wasn't about agreeing with her or not, but rather about those who want everyone to believe as they do, and live that way. I think sometimes, it has become a back-up BC. I do know people though who were using BC, and it failed. None is 100%. Personally, I think that if you aren't ready to deal with an unplanned pregnancy, you shouldn't be having sex, but I realize that's my belief, not everyones. I feel back for your friend, but what a horrible reason to have an abortion. I'd be surprised if it didn't haunt her.

Six Flags Has Nothing on Me!

That is SOOO cool! I've been wondering how the day went after reading your post before you went.
  18. Kind of mixed. DH was banded 2 years ago, so the family is more familar then some with the process. Overall, I get a lot of support and encouragement, but there is also a sense of "well, is this going to work for her?" out there. Since I've tried so many other things and failed.

What's so bad about being fat anyway?

I'm keeping in mind that I'm doing this to BE healthy, so I will do things that are healthy to get there. I've struggled with that some in the past. But YES to the second part of your post. I would still do this. Because I know that I couldn't remain fat and healthy.

    Weight Loss

Did you get all the info on what to eat from NWWLS? I got a lot of stuff. you could also call them and get ideas. At this point, you are 4 weeks out, so can start on some solids. I'd started with more salmon and chicken, just added other things in. The basic rule is lean Protein, then produce, then grains.

    Hacker??

I've been getting it off and on for an hour or so now.
  22. For me, the current scandal is somewhat the same thing. I heard many times during the Clinton scandal that "Character matters". The Reps have positioned themselves as the moral party.

    Clothing NSV

I now have 6 new/old pairs of pants in my closet. They are clothes I was wearing about a year ago comfortably, but had exiled to the back bedroom because they had gotten too tight to wear. Including my favorite jeans! I’m thrilled. I tend to keep clothes that are too small, even before I decided to have surgery, since I also hoped they’d fit again. <O:p Tomorrow, I’ll try some tops to see if any are fitting yet. <O:p

    Clothing NSV

Thanks - I have a stack going to Good will this weekend, a few pieces I'm going to list on E-bay. I like the idea of keeping one pair of pants, I think I'll do that.
  25. Hard to say, I think. Since in the past, it wasn't considered to be anyone else's business, and not fodder for the media. If I had to guess, I'd say it's really pretty even. Personally, I don't think either party can claim much moral high ground.
