Are fat people unattractive and unpoluar?
lisah25 replied to ted12345's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To me, no, no more then smaller people. To the culture we live in, very often. -
I love it - fat grrl activists!

I supported Clinton, and I still think he did a lot of good for the country. Personally, I didn't care so much that he messed around. While I don't condone adultry, I agree it's an issue for the couple, not the nation. I did care when he lied about it. And I was astounded that he was stupid enough to do what he did in the Oval office, given the political atmosphere in the US, where everyone is looking for dirt on our officials.

List Of Foods LBanders Are Not Supposed To Eat?
lisah25 replied to MommyMayhem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As other's have said, it varies a lot. I personally can't do white bread or rolls. White rice is out, unless it's sushi, that I can do. chicken breast is tough if it's at all dry. I haven't tried Pasta, so I'm not sure. The main consequence is that this stuff gets stuck, and leads to a PB. Not fun! -
I'm trying really hard not to think too much about how banding a body part could help "cure" and addiction like Clinton's... :faint:

In one sentence: The best thing I've experienced since being banded is....

Having hope again that I can be normal-sized and healthy. -
Hum, I like most of those drinks at various times, wonder what that means!?
-
I actually like my gurgles. It's a good reassurance my band is there and working.

I second the suggestion to talk to your anesthesiologist. I would think also that the lap-band surgery is shorter then knee replacements, esp if she had them both at the same time. I've heard that the longer you are under, the more likely reactions are.

Yes, and it may be time to again.

I remember in High School when I tried to find stuff that fit, it was all black polyester stuff with no shape. Hated it. Then I started working, still in big sizes, and everything seemed to be stuff I would have liked in High School. Bright colors, young-looking casual clothes. Oh, and a few black poly sacks still hanging around. I think it's better now. I can find stuff pretty easily. I like Macy's, Avenue, Target(although it's really hit and miss) and even Wal-Mart now that I'm looking for cheaper stuff for my transition. Another place I like is Ross. They have a decent selection of plus sizes, and are inexpensive.

Everytime I think it can't get worse, it does.

One of my pet peeves!!! I'm 5'4", and it's really hard to find things. I'm tired of having to cut 3" off a pair of pants, or try to hem a full skirt. I know I could take stuff to a tailor, but even then it ruins the lines of some things to have to shorten them that much.

One of my favorites was on some Christmas lights - "for indoor or outdoor use only". We couldn't quite figure out what other use there was, shut in the door perhaps.

Have you spent time on boards for bypass patients? It might be interesting to read what they are dealing with post-surgery. I did that as part of my research and decided I would rather have the post-band life. But that was my choice, and not the right one for everyone. Also, keep in mind those of us doing just fine don't often start threads saying so. It's when someone has a question or problem they post more.

I get "gurgles" if I drink too much at one time.

I agree, it's amazing that this is even an issue that is being talked about. Among all the other points that have been raised, as a Christian it bothers me a great deal that another self-proclaimed Christian(Goode) shows so little respect for the Bible as to want it used in an oath by those who don't believe what it says.

Congrats to you!! :clap2: I would have wrapped the skinny woman in the parka first, but maybe that's just me... :heh:

I agree it was a brillant idea to use Jefferson's Koran. And Congressman Goode simply displays his ignorance. As your link points out, Congressman Ellison is not an immigrant...

First off, I feel for you! This is one of the hardest times of being banded. You want to get on with losing weight already, but you need to heal first. I read on this board once about where you are is that you now have your tool, but it hasn't been turned on yet so it's not yet working. I couldn't feel my port for a couple of months, then one day in the shower I realized that I could. Yes, this is all worth it. Once you get to a good level(and it might take more then one fill) you'll "get it". Oh, and for the people at work, you might try something like "You're so sweet to be concerned for me, but of course I'm following my dr's orders as to what to eat".
-
I've been losing steadily since surgery, up until a few weeks ago. Granted, the holidays made things hard because everywhere I looked there was food sitting out, and I ate more junk then I should have. But I also think my body is kind of taking a bit of a time-out, catching up with itself, at least that's what's happened in the past. And this is the time I usually get frustrated and give up. Now though, I have this great sense of hope. That if I just keep following the rules, I'll lose again. I do also notice that even if the scale isn't moving, my clothes continue to feel looser.

Just beginning the research

We deducted DH's in 2004, and are planning to deduct mine this year. For medical expenses to be deductable, they have to total a given percent of your income, that wasn't a problem for us. I can't remember what that percent is, it's on the forms. I was able to deduct my contributions towards medical insurance, co-pays for all office visits, WLS or not, and prescriptions. -
I just bought the book, but not really for the program. I wanted to learn more about how my body works around issues of food and the like, and this was recommended to me for that. One reason I got banded was so that I wouldn't have to follow yet another program, but could just eat sensibily. So far so good!
-
The reason is that drinking while eating will wash food right past the band, defeating it's purpose of making you feel satisfied with a smaller portion.

I'm on my fourth fill, and I think this might do it.
