The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research

I don't understand the connection you see between free will and a 2 year old dying of cancer? I pretty much agree about sin. I think the rules are there for our benefit rather just being some cosmic game of Simon Says.

    Anti-Semitism In France!

Interesting. I've always said my faith is something I can't prove. If I could prove God exists, then it's not faith. It's something I can't explain but just "know". Which isn't a explaination that convinces anyone but me. And I'm OK with that.

Let US Troops In Iraq Die, Army says

Thanks for the contact info. Too many people have bought the line that supporting the troops means supporting Bush and his choices.

    Afraid I won't feel full!

I agree that hunger is natural, and from what I have seen in myself and read on groups, we as a group seem to almost fear it. That being hungry is such a terrible thing we have to avoid it at all costs. I've been thinking about that for myself, why I am that way. As far a fills, it can be a fine line. My goal is to have my band dim my appetite, limit how much I can eat at one time(and what I can eat to a point) but also allow me to eat a good variety of healthy stuff. I want to get the full benefit of it, I was self-pay!

    Afraid I won't feel full!

For me, I had to wait 6 weeks until my first fill. I was pretty lucky and wasn't really very hungry for a while. I've had 5 now, and I think I'm at a good spot.

Except if God created Adem and Eve, He could have created them with belly buttons. :scared:

    Husbands

I would talk to him honestly when you are feeling calm. Just say that you've noticed he is less supportive of your banding then he was at the beginning, and you are wondering what is on his mind. I think losing weight is a strain on a marriage. It changes the dynamics, and we have to re-adjust to our spouses. Both those of us losing and our loving DHs and DWs. I've noticed lately I've been getting snappy with my DH. Finding fault with him more and more. I think in the past I've just stuffed my feelings down with food, and just been grateful I had a hubby at all. Now I can't just take a big ole dose of comfort food and go into a stupor. And as I'm getting noticed a bit more by other guys, I'll admit I've had moments of "Hum, wonder what it would be like to be with him". I remind myself that DH loved me no matter what size I am. That no one is perfect, and that he's pretty dang good most of the time. We are going to go see a counseler, just to help deal with the changing dynamics. At the end of the day, I really do want to be married to him.
  8. It's rather amazing to me that we are so willing to decide what people are thinking, and yes I know both sides do it. I mean, it didn't help her much to stay with him, look at the flack she takes for it. From people who do talk about the sancity of marriage and all. And there is a part of me that imagines it would have been a huge scandal, and just another point to hammer them on, if she had left.

    new and overwhelmed

What to her is a "normal meal"? What does she mean when she says that?

    So frustrated

I would follow-up on more fills for a long-term solution. I took 5 fills to get to the spot I am now, where I think I'm good for a while. The first 2 made no difference at all. I think most of us needed more then one fill. I think you are eating too much at a meal. I don't think you should be physically able to, but now is also a good time to work on eating the least amount you can, not the most.
  11. To paraphrase "those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it"
  12. I would think seriously about doing the one that includes fills. For me, I would hesitate to get filled knowing I had to spend $175.00 each time. Silly I know given what we pay for this surgery, but I know myself and I know that would be a factor in my going in. Instead, I have gotten fills based on how I feel and what I decide with the clinic.

So what do you think about the surge?

I don't hate Bush. I don't know him well enough to hate or love him. I do however have some serious issues with decisions he's making in running the country I live in and love. It's easy to dismiss criticism of his actions as simply "hating Bush". It's not true.

    Have anyone of filled yourself.

Even before banding I don't think I could have eaten six oranges and 2 apples. Or two whoppers with cheese. I have the larger band also and I'm losing fine.

    Have anyone of filled yourself.

Boy, I sure wouldn't have tried that.
  16. The one that sticks out for me was on my first(and last) visit with a new GYN maybe 15 years ago. Who had been very highly recomended by a co-worker. This woman walks in, looks at me and says "Do you ever try to eat anything low-fat"? First thing out of her mouth. Gee, if she'd read my chart she'd have known I had recently lost 40 pounds.
  17. Before banding. And I'm so glad. I got such good info here, to go along with what my surgeon's information. And the support is great.

    Shocking the grandkids....Priceless

I've seen them at Target, and I wonder about beauty supply places? I've seen some at fairs and the like that look pretty good really. I'll let you know if I see any soon.

    Shocking the grandkids....Priceless

LOL-so you need a supply of temporary tattoos. Apply one, then show them.

Who's on your "what if" list?

The more I watch the show, the less attractive I think he is. Because he does come across as an arrogant AH to me too.

    sushi?

Yes, rice is a common problem food. I can't eat just plain white rice, brown is iffy. I can do sushi though, esp. nigiri(sp?). I think it's the proportion of rice to the fish that makes it work. Along with a little soy sauce.

    Mental Health

I've noticed I'm a lot more emotional, good and bad, then I was before. In my case, I think I was medicating with food. Feeling mad? Have a piece of chocolate. Something to Celebrate? Have a big meal. Now, I can't do that, so I have to finally deal with my emotions, and it's tricky at times. I also wonder about what effect losing weight is having on my hormones. But, I figure I'll figure it out, and end up with better health all around. I've been on Celexa for about a year now, and in my pych eval she suggested I stay on it for at least a year post-band. I plan to. So, if I were you I'd look into some counseling and perhaps medication to help you work through the emotional stuff.
  23. I just read something a month or so ago about areas in some prisons that inmates can get into by converting to Christianity, or being Chrisitan. They are more comfortable and have more privilages then the general population.
