  1. No, but neither do I think high-fat protien and limited veggies/fruit are either. I do a moderate approach. Whole grains, veggies, some fruit, low-fat Protein. I feel best and do best on that.

    Sex before marriage?

One general comment I've been meaning to make is that not everyone who wasn't a virgin on their wedding night treats sex as casual and had lots of partners.

    Anti-Semitism In France!

I saw a production of "Shadowlands" this last weekend. One theme was about how when we really love someone, we know that pain is part of the deal. And the closer we are, the more the pain. So what you say makes sense. We used to laugh at them because at family gatherings, the three sisters and their mom would more often then not be dress much alike, same colors. And they all had different style for the most part otherwise. It stopped being so funny when I realized I was doing it too! :faint: And it's not just genetic, I'm adopted!
  4. Just to be clear, I don't have any problem paying taxes for education, even though my immediate family doesn't benefit. So, I don't see why familes with kids should not have to pay those same taxes, regardless of what choices they make as far as educating their kids. I'm not informed enough right now to have a solid opinion on vouchers. I've seen a lot of different proposals.

    Anti-Semitism In France!

Fair enough. I've been wondering for a while reading your posts about proof of God and Jesus, and to me God isn't really interested in proving His existence. It's about faith, believing in something without proof. Thanks.

    Sex before marriage?

That is a VERY good point Gadgetlady. Just because someone chooses to reserve sexual activity for some situations, like being married, doesn't mean that they are against sex. Or don't really enjoy it within the bounds of what they believe is right.
  7. http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/01/gore.nobel.ap/index.html Former Vice President Al Gore has been nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his wide-reaching efforts to draw the world's attention to the dangers of global warming, a Norwegian lawmaker said Thursday. "A prerequisite for winning the Nobel Peace Prize is making a difference, and Al Gore has made a difference," Conservative Member of Parliament Boerge Brende, a former minister of environment and then of trade, told The Associated Press. Brende said he joined political opponent Heidi Soerensen, of the Socialist Left Party, to nominate Gore as well as Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier before the nomination deadline expired Thursday
  8. Which always raises a question for me. I don't have kids, so should I not have to pay taxes to support education at all?
  9. I think Ann Coulter is a witch. The things she said about some of the 9/11 widows is just the tip of the iceberg.
  10. Not real fond of him either. Or Stephanie Miller for that matter. I don't personally think Al is as bad as Rush, but to me, many other Left radio hosts are just the other side of the Rush coin. Hateful is Hateful, no matter what your politics.

    Anti-Semitism In France!

My mom and her sisters were very much like that. Often they would send each other the same cards, it wasn't rare that mom would get the same B-day card from each sister, even though they lived 600 miles apart. When my dad died, my mom called the one sister, and she answered the phone saying "It's Bob, isn't it?". Now, this was long before Caller ID, she didn't know it was my mom calling, let along have any way to know why.

Hi Ron, I have a question for you if I may. How do you define Faith?

    Very Nervous---yikes!

Go and get checked. Baruim can indeed catch at least some problems. DH just got unfilled. We went in on Monday, I knew I needed a fill and he thought he did too. Turns out instead he was too tight, and his esophagus was dialated. Which is dangerous beyond any weight loss considerations. So, he's going back in two weeks to see if he's healed up. He was close to a slip, but they are pretty sure he'll be fine after some time. Then they'll work on slowing getting his fill level back up.

    PCP NOT Encouraging

I am SOOOOOO tired of that line. Do people think that we could lose that way if we chose to, we just prefer being big or something!?!?:yell: :yell:

    flying

Between DH and I, we've flown several times since banding, and never once set off any detectors.

    Caftans- What do you think?

One thought with a V-neck is that you can always put a tank top or cami under it. I do that a lot because too many Vs are too low, and I don't want to flash my co-workers.

    Post op care

    That's a great idea!

    Post op care

The thing I was most glad to have was a heating pad. It made the shoulder pain so much more bearable. I stocked up on Soups and Jello, and didn't eat nearly all I'd bought. For help, I needed help for a day or two getting up and down, otherwise I was fine doing things for myself.

    Super Duper Down

If they do deny you as "punishment" for gaining weight, I'd think about looking for another fill doctor.

    Moral Dilemma

Good for you!! I think that when we are doing something we know deep down is wrong, but we are trying to deny it, we want other people to validate that we really aren't wrong. Because we know we are. Does that make any sense at all? He may be trying to sway you because he knows your objections, and knows they are valid. If he can get you to go along, then it makes it all OK. Even though it isn't.
  21. OK, I was very much in need of this fill, I'd forgotten a lot of the rules! Like eat slowly and chew well. Like maybe being tighter in the mornings. Had my usual South Beach protien/cereal bar this morning. I thought I'd chewed well and all that. But nope. Got that "uh-oh" feeling. Made it to the bathroom, thank goodness none of my co-workers were there. Came back to my desk. Realized something was still stuck. This time, not so lucky, the other stalls were full. Oh well, I've told everyone about my surgery, so at least I could just say that I got stuck, and they know what it means.:guess Back sipping a little water now. Re-thinking my lunch. I love the band, everyday can be a new adventure... :faint:

    Moral Dilemma

Or a few fries short of a Happy Meal? I'm not really defending him, but that was my first thought when I read Carlene's post. I could be WAY off-base.
  23. lisah25

    Moral Dilemma

I wondered if his motivation was really to shove the relationship in Carlene's face, or try to show her he was happy, in (misguided) attempt to win her over?

    How did you decide?

I've read some studies show that while bypass patients lose faster early on, by 5 years out the weight loss is the same as for bandsters.

    Super Duper Down

Will power, I'm not sure I'd call it that. What I find when I have good restriction is that food doesn't "call out" to me like it otherwise would. I can eat a bandster meal, and stop. Be happy with that. I'm going in for my 6th fill in about an hour, and I find I'm excited. I know I haven't had good restriction for a few weeks now.
