  1. This is a fun thread. They told me to pick a dream and next thing I knew I was in recovery wondering what was going on.

Do you call your pet smtg other than its name?

I've always called my pets variations of their names. I think of it kind of like the affectionate nicknames we sometimes use for our human loves.

    Drinking whilst eating

I'm very strict, it's one the guidelines I treat as a rule. When I'm out, I drink a little Water before I eat, that's it. I do miss a glass of wine with my dinner, but decided it's worth it. You could have a drink before you have dinner, and then maybe just have a glass of water or wine at your place, but don't drink? Sip a little maybe?

    drinking water fast?

Sip. In fact, one way I could tell recently that I needed a fill was that I could drink in large gulps.

Quick update on my VG band.

I'm glad you have a fill that is working for you. One comment - I don't think it's so much that we are spoiled, as it is that more people should have the advantages we have. And not everyone in the US has access to the health care system. Even we don't always get it right.
  6. I think Microsoft covers it. Other then that, I'm not sure.

    does this seem right

If you don't like salads, don't eat them. I almost never do, because then I want dressing and cheese and all that stuff that makes them high-calorie and kind of defeats the purpose. For veggies - I like steamed brocolli, brussel sprouts, cooked or raw carrots, actually pretty much any steamed veggie with a little salt and butter, or those Butter Buds that are in the spice aisle. I also love sauteed mushrooms - I cook some minced garlic in a little olive oil and basalmic vineger, then add some sliced mushrooms and cook them. Makes a nice little side dish.

    does this seem right

I'll second the two main suggestions you have gotten, consider getting a fill and look at what you are eating. Lean protein and veggies first!

    Anna Nicole Smith has died

I've always felt sorry for her on some level. She never seemed to know who she was or what she wanted from her life.
  10. There are a lot of great stories here! And good answers to questions. Congrats!

    Any one in NW WA

Welcome Cascadian! Lots of us here.
  12. LOL-I have to say I'd be more freaked out having them take off my undies then just doing it myself beforehand!

    Sex before marriage?

It does ring a bell for me, if I find anything I'll post it.

I feel like a big baby.

I wasn't out climbing mountains two days later either! I was off work a week, I could have taken longer but had to go in to deal with some crisis stuff. I would to go work, come home and head straight to bed for at least a week. I think it wasn't until about 3 weeks out I started to feel anything like myself again. And it makes sense. We had pretty major surgery. Where they put us out. All the drugs used alone can take a while to get over. Then there is the liquid diet while healing that can affect how we feel. And the emotions we've had for some time even before surgery. You WILL feel better. Even if you have a few bumps, it will pass and you will feel better.
  15. I remember seeing links that showed the surgeon also standing between the patients legs, with the table tipped so they could have good access to the stomach area. When I saw that, it kind of weirded me out too.
  16. PBing is very close to vomiting. The difference is when you PB, what comes out is what you just ate, so it's not digested like when we vomitted before. I try not to as much as I can, not only is it not a lot of fun, it's not good for the band.

    Negative views

I think we all have those nay-sayers. Who have horror stories about someone, all too often it's their housekeeper's cousin's sister's daycare worker's friend. And yes, bad things can and do happen, but being Morbidly Obese has it's own risks. I took what I felt was a calculated risk, that the surgery would make me healthier in the long run then what I was doing. SO far so good.

    Sex before marriage?

What I wonder as I read that is how underreporting may vary by country. In some countries, being a victim of rape is so shameful the woman is killed by her relatives, or expected to kill herself. I would think that would affect rates. It is an interesting link in all though.

    2 days out

I really wouldn't worry a lot about amount right now. Just textures, make sure you are following your doctor's eating plan.
  20. And as I tell DH, those kids will be our doctors and lawyers when we are elderly. So I want them as educated as possible!

    Sex before marriage?

"VIENNA, Austria - Austrian authorities said Wednesday they have uncovered a major international child pornography ring involving more than 2,360 suspects from 77 countries, including hundreds in the United States, who paid to view videos of young children being sexually abused." The suspects were from all over. Most seem to be Americans, followed by Germans then French, at least based on the numbers in the article. Countries from Algeria to South Africa were involved, as well as Russia.

    Sex before marriage?

I think you are making this too much a black and white thing. Yes, there are people out there who don't think sex is much more then a fun biological function. That is fine to do whenever, whoever, whatever. There are those who believe you should only have one partner, your spouse after marriage. And in between is a spectrum of people basically who think sex is OK within a relationship, but don't define that as marriage. What they do define as a relationship may vary of course, but it's not just one or the other.
  23. LOL-now there's great example of the difference between fantasy and reality.
  24. From what I remember, it's a combination of fat pads around the stomach, the the size of the actual stomach wall as well. It varies a lot person to person.
  25. As I think someone else mentioned, it has to do with the sterile environment, and undies aren't exactly sterile. I didn't have anything on under the gown, but I'm pretty sure they drape all but the area they are working on. And they've seen it all. I don't think I have anything new for them?! :heh: I figure I said I would do almost anything to lose this weight, if being naked in an operating room, when I'm not even awake for it, is something I need to do, then it's something I do. Ok, did.
