    Banded Duos?

Well, that kind of depends. :heh: Usually it's "dear" or "darling". It can be "danged" or whatever word fits at the time. I'm glad to see a few more banded duos! Right now, DH is struggling. He had been too tight, and ended up with a dialated esphogus. So he was unfilled, and we're going in today to get him checked and see if he's healed. It's frustrating for me, now that I've lived with my band for a while, to see him do things I know aren't good for him or his weight loss. Anyone else finding this, and how do you offer support without becoming a nag? I don't want to be his mother, but I want him to feel better.

Rtgirl77, you write very well and I admire the honesty of your words!

So you don't accept the NIV? And what translation would use the word "master" instead of slave or servant?

    Anti-Semitism In France!

Now I am confused. You said the NT didn't mention slaves, but Servants. I found several NT references to slaves, from the NIV. Then I read your post about it really meaning servants, and that a servant was different then a slave. So I went to the KJ version, looked for servant, and found what I posted. Which describes the position of "servant" much like we think of slavery. So what am I missing?:help:

Ok, then what about this? Exodus21:2-6 “If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself. And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him forever." Does that sound like servants as we know them?

    freinds/family acting weird...

LOL-since you are still on the pain meds, I'd hold off deciding if anyone's behavior has changed. Altered reality and all that. But yes, I do think some people have a hard time when someone else changes things. I was the jolly fat one in my circle, we'll all have to readjust to me as I change. And some won't like it.

Yep, I don't equate gang rape with consensual sex of any type. And the angels were sent down to see if there were any rightoues people in Sodom before God destroyed it. So, what happened to them was not the reason God was wanting to destroy the city. It just confirmed His decision.

Colossians 3:22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Colossians 4:1 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven 1 Timothy 6:1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered Titus 2:9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 1 Peter 2:18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. Ephesians 6:5 [ Slaves and Masters ] Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Ephesians 6:9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. John 8:35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.

Wow - that's VERY intersting stuff. I read it through, but will come back and re-read it again. Thank you for posting that!

You probably really believe you are, but you are not. There is much that you say that isn't explicit in the Bible, that you are interpreting.

I still don't see where homosexuality is listed among the vices of Sodom that God was going to destroy them for. Do you have a verse?
  12. RELAX!!! You are perfectly normal. You have an appetite and can get things down because your band isn't "turned on" yet. Until you get filled to a good level, and it may take more then one, you won't be getting the benefit of the band. So yes, you will be hungry. Now is the time to really just grit your teeth as much as you can, and just get through it. Don't eat until your Dr. says to, this is so the band can heal in place and you'll have much less chance of problems later. Yes, it's not any fun, but you can do it and you'll be glad you did.

Ah, but where is homosexuality mentioned in connection with Sodom? It talks about sin and sexual perversion, I don't see a list anywhere of what specific acts that covers.

Where in the bible does is say Sodom was destroyed for homosexuality specifically?

    Anti-Semitism In France!

I don't agree (yeah, big surprise I know). Things being an abomination are part of beliving in a given religion. So, you can't seperate it out from saying they are indeed laws about worshiping as one sees fit.

    Anti-Semitism In France!

LOL-Yep. This goes back to my feelings about how Ron interprets the Bible. He is focusing on homosexuality, when those verses don't mention it. I give God a great deal of credit for being specific when it's important.

    Anti-Semitism In France!

I said what you posted didn't specifiy homosexuality. My PC is acting up, so bear with me. In the NIV, Jude 1:7 talks about sexual imorality and perversion. Which covers a lot. And yet, you focus on one thing. "Strange flesh" could mean many things, including beasility. I see nothing in that verse the singles out homosexuality.

    Fish? Need suggestions.....

I like salmon the best, but my second choice would be halibut. I usually wrap it up in foil with different seasonings. For example, lemon and a little seasoning salt, then bake at 350 until it's just done(not sure on the time, I start at about 15 mins, then check it often). Overdone fish is BAD - dry and gets stuck. I also like Tuna - I'll take a block of it and sear in a pan with a little olive oil, leaving the center rare/raw, and eat with a dipping sauce like teriyaki or something.

No, it is inconsistent with what YOU think that scripture says. It's not with what I think it says. Someone earlier said they were glad they were going to answer to God, not you. I feel the same. You can tell me all you want I'm not a good Christian, that I'm not following the Bible, and it doesn't bother me in the least. I know who I will answer to someday, and believe me that matters MUCH more to me then what you or anyone else on this earth thinks of how I'm living. I rest easy at night, well except for that CPAP machine I'm stuck with... :biggrin1:

    eating out portions

I just estimate. When I have the right fill level, I can tell when I've had enough. I don't worry that much about exact amounts, as long as I feel good and am losing.
  21. lisah25

    Anti-Semitism In France!

Fornication is not exclusivly homosexual. Neither is "strange flesh" referring to homosexuality alone. My vote isn't publicly speaking about anything. And yes, I believe I can seperate how I decide to live my life from how I think we should legally require others, who are not Christians, to live theirs. I love the freedom I have that allows me to choose what I will do, how I believe I need to honor my God. I'm not willing to give that up. So, I can't support laws that are based on just what the Bible says. That in NO WAY OR SHAPE means I don't live by what I think it says. I'm just not willing to legally require anyone does.

Does Having Depression Ruin my Chances?

In my evaluation, we talked about my depression. I've been taking anti-depressents for about a year now. It wasn't at all a problem for getting approved for the surgery. The only strong suggestion was to stay on my meds for at least a year post-surgery, since my body was going to go through a lot of changes.

And as soon as you find those verses, we'll talk more about it. My "conscience" (interesting use of quotes there, btw) may be at odds with what you believe in. It's not for me. And even if it is, isn't that really between my and God?
  25. lisah25

    Anti-Semitism In France!

And in reading your post, I realize something that's been in the back of my mind. Ron talks about not standing up for what I believe, not following my conscience. He misses the point that that is exactly what I am doing. But it's mine, not his that I follow.
