I was never told that - in fact I was told to bring my machine to surgery with me in case I was having problems breathing. I don't see how a Cpap can affect the stomach?

I'm with you! I love it. DH and I got one for each other for Christmas and I was surprised how much of a workout it has been. A friend who had a stroke last year has used the Wii in her physical therapy. (and did you know you can play strip bowling...)

I was not happy to see him in the cast! I don't get why anyone pays attention to him, and may not watch because of him. Yau-man is back, and I'm glad about that.

Is it really worth it?????
lisah25 replied to ams2436's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For me, yes. I've had mine for about a year and a half, and while I had hoped to have lost more by now, I'm still THRILLED with my band. It kept me at about the same weight while working through some emotional food issues, and was right there ready to work again when I was ready. I thought a lot about the risks, but then weighed them against what I was already dealing with from being overweight. Seemed like a pretty good gamble to me. -

Big decision to make....Help!!
lisah25 replied to nurselori73's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think I would go with the surgery with the proctor. The only thing I would think about is after-care, fills and such. Which can be a challenge for those who had surgery in Mexico anyway. -
Anyone having problems with constipation?
lisah25 replied to aubrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put some Benefiber in my coffee every morning, that seems to keep things, well, "moving along". -
I was told caffeine is OK, I have a non-fat latte in the morning. Both for the caffeine and a little protien.

I find that I feel the alcohol MUCH more and quickly. One glass of wine and I start to feel buzzed. I tried one beer, and it made me uncomfortable. I tend to stick to wine these days when I do have a drink, or a Mojito which isn't too bad for calories, as compared to something like a margerita. I've tried things like a Rum and diet coke, but the carbonation just gets to me.

I'm just north of Seattle WA. His name was Herb Sellers, but he moved to this area like 40 years ago.(If I remember from your profile, that was way before you were even born!) When we dated in the 80's he was in his 40s. He was an "older-man" fling that turned serious. He had family that stayed in Moultrie, a daughter named Debra and I think some of the family are still in the area. Oh, I checked and the bra I like the best is a Playtex Secrets, and while I think I got it as Wal-mart, I'm not sure. It's an underwire, but really comfortable and it's one of the few I've found where the middle lays flat against my breast bone like they say it's supposed to. (I'm a 44DDD).

Is it worth it? Newcomer trying to decide, please help
lisah25 replied to dglaeser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing to keep in mind is that since this is a support board, a lot of the people posting are dealing with issues. Those who are doing great and are happy aren't posting a lot of thread saying so, so you can get a skewed impression from that. If that makes sense. -
WAAAYYYY off topic, but Moultrie caught my eye. My first serious romance was a guy from Moultrie. Ok, done threadjacking... I like Wal-Mart for bras also. My favorite was from there, but right now I can't remember the brand, I'll have to check. I'm like you, not a fan of underwires, but the right ones make a difference.

I’ve been wandering around the wilderness of candy and DQ Blizzards… </O:p Then in Sept, I realized I was tired of not having lost any weight since May. I was tired of not being able to do what I said I wanted to. So, I started seeing the psychologist at my WLS clinic, actually my DH and I are going together. And I got a much-needed fill on 1/2/2007(starting out the new year right!). <O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p I had re-gained 15 pounds while in denial and then starting to work things out. So much better then in the past, where I would re-gain everything I lost plus a few more pounds for reinforcements. I’m down 8 from my fill, and pants that were getting tight are fitting better already. So, my lesson is that the band is my safety net while I work on other things, and is there for me when I’m ready to get going again. Not bad!<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p

I love the "But it's cheating" comments. I suppose those types think that no one should get a pacemaker, they should just eat right and exercise. A nurse the my WLS clinic said "This is a medical issue, not an moral one", and that resonated with me.

Hi Laurend - I see you are now our official Token Athiest #2!

What I remember from my apt managment days years ago, in WA state, if someone missed the deadline for payment of rent, we posted a 3 day pay or vacate notice. After those three days, eviction procedures started, but it took a while to get everything done.

Once An Overeater, Always An Overeater
lisah25 replied to rebandit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You make good points. Yes, you can still overeat some foods, and they aren't usually the healthy ones. My Dr. and staff made it very clear that this is nothing more or less then a tool. That there was a lot of hard work still to be done. I do find if I'm adjusted correctly, I really don't have many cravings and my appetite is dimmed. I've gone almost 7 months were I was struggling and not losing and eating all kinds of crap, after losing 65 pounds. But, and this is a biggie(no pun intended!), I gained back only 15 pounds. Yeah, not a good thing, but in the past I regained all I had lost and usually 10 more for fun. So, I learned that the band can also be a bit of a safety net for when I'm working through emotional issues. For that I am SOOO grateful. I got a fill last week, and have already lost 8 pounds. So, it was there waiting for me all along. -
I'm with everyone else, you need to step back and think about whether this is someone you want to be with. Even if he is totally sure he is right and you are wrong(which I question!) there is no excuse for talking to someone you are supposed to love that way.

What happens when you click on "New posts"? I like that because it lists exactly that, posts that have been updated since your last visit.

OK, I've been stuck for a while, even up a little. At first, I figured it was just my first plateau, so I upped the work-outs and made sure I was eating right. Still no progress. So I took a good look at what I'm eating, and got a major shock. I had found this wonderful snack. Trail mix from Wal-Mart - the Cajun one. Spicey and sweet and really yummy. I knew it had 160 cals a serving, but that didn't seem like that much. Until this morning, when I actually used my food scale to see what a serving looked like. Holy Sh*t!! :faint: :faint: :faint: It was a tiny amount. I figure I was eating easily 500 cals or more a night without even thinking about it. Not to mention the sodium content. It was a good lesson in mindful eating. So, back to herb tea at night if I want something with taste...

Hum, I hadn't thought of that. Interesting!
-
Yep - I didn't like that either. And more then once, they called WLS the "Easy way out". H*ll, better then having your health so bad you can't even walk. He seems full of himself. All his talk about how he's decided how to handle cheaters and all.

I had to do a sleep study before surgery. I told the sleep doctor that I was having surgery, and needed to do this as a step towards it. He was great, he got me in as quickly as he could, and ordered a split-night test. Meaning that if I showed clear signs of apena, they could try the Cpap that same night. So I only had to do one study and got my machine quickly.

TELL YOUR SURGEON! There is no reason not to, and he needs to know it's there. As far as surgery, DH had his Gallbladder out a couple of years after he was banded with no problem at all.

Spanx.....anyone wear them? I have a question.....
lisah25 replied to JudiM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a pair of high-waisted ones, not the Spanxs brand but similar. I LOVE them, I like the feeling of support, and that it smooths out the mid-rif roll I have. Mine goes to up to my bra, and don't cause any discomfort at all.
