I did too, at first I thought he was just reacting badly to his wife's illness. But now, holy crap. I wonder if the funeral thing was motivated by guilt, or if he just didn't care anymore?

IRS Tax Deduction for Weight loss surgery
lisah25 replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, it is tax deductable. I'm not sure of the percentages and what you get back, I use TurboTax. But we were able to deduct all of our medical costs for the year, since the surgery put us over the amount you must have before you can indeed deduct medical costs. So remember things like co-pay on office visits and prescriptions, medical insurance premiums, equipment(like a C-PAP). -
Girls: After you lost weight do strangers give you more attention?
lisah25 replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, I've noticed that too. And even happily married, I like it! -
I love my band because it's given me hope back that I can be a healthy weight. I love that I can eat a reasonable amount and feel done.

I don't think we are. I love it here, not only can I get good advice, I can have interesting conversations and debates. This is overall a support group for lap-band patients. For honest posts about our struggles, problems and yes successes. I think that's key. Lapbands do sometimes have complications. People abuse them. I like that here, there are often many different viewpoints on an issue.

Woo-hoo! I'm glad - hope all is going well.

That is sad, and I would be furious.

I may start a contorversy...but here goes

Interesting attitude. So I shouldn't allow my male doctor to do my pelvic exam anymore because he doesn't have the same equipment? All those years in med school don't stack up to being a patient with a given condition. Hum. Personally, I paid a lot of money for my band. So I plan to follow the advice of the person I paid. Since he has a lot of knowledge I don't. -
Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?

I've seen bits and pieces, finally got it recorded and plan to watch it when I have some spare time. Whenever that might be! -
I agree that telling her that you may or may not have MS is probably not good right now, I would just tell her they did some tests and are now treating you for depression like you said. I'm glad you didn't get the bad news we were all hoping you didn't. I think the BD plans sound wonderful. A yard project she's been wanting, her favorite food and a grandkid - doesn't get much better then that. Hope you all have a great time, you need it at this point!

I don't think this is lap-band related, but thought someone might have some info. I went to donate blood today, and was turned down because they said I have an irregular pulse, and in feeling it for myself, I sure do. It will beat anywhere from 3 - 10 times, then pause, like it's skipping a beat, then have a stronger beat, then back to the 3 - 10 more normal beats. As far as I know, it's not done this before. I take my pulse while doing Curves, and in all the times it's been taken by medical people, no one has said anything. I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if this something I should be really worried about or what? :help:

Because someone told you you can't! It's like when you are out camping, the outhouse is a long walk in the dark, and the minute you settle in and zip up, bam ya gotta go!:heh:

Thanks Dad! The EKG looked just fine. So did all my lab numbers. My doctor said it's nothing to worry about. I'll keep an eye on how I feel, and insist on more tests if I notice any symptoms. You are in my thoughts today.

Thank you for sharing this! I've been taking Celexa for a little over a year now, and I agree that it has totally changed the quality of my life, making it possible to deal with all the challenges and enjoy the good parts.
-
Oh, and keep us posted too, OK? I hope you get better news soon.
-
Oh boy, that's a tough one. If it were me, I would probably want DH to wait until I saw him face-to-face, but soon after that. So I'd want to know when picked up at the airport.
-
Thanks everyone. I had an EKG yesterday, I should hear back today what they found.

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2007/03/20/executive_privilege/index.html Tony Snow - Op-Ed - St. Louis Post-Dispatch, March 29, 1998 : (HEADLINE: "Executive Privilege is a Dodge") Evidently, Mr. Clinton wants to shield virtually any communications that take place within the White House compound on the theory that all such talk contributes in some way, shape or form to the continuing success and harmony of an administration. Taken to its logical extreme, that position would make it impossible for citizens to hold a chief executive accountable for anything. He would have a constitutional right to cover up. Chances are that the courts will hurl such a claim out, but it will take time. One gets the impression that Team Clinton values its survival more than most people want justice and thus will delay without qualm. But as the clock ticks, the public's faith in Mr. Clinton will ebb away for a simple reason: Most of us want no part of a president who is cynical enough to use the majesty of his office to evade the one thing he is sworn to uphold -- the rule of law. Tony Snow, Fox News, March 18, 1998: In our latest Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll, we asked a series of questions about executive privilege. Most believe it's an attempt to stonewall Ken Starr's investigation. There's an even split on whether the White House has something to hide. And a majority thinks conversations with the first lady should not be covered. Did the president invoke executive privilege to preserve the presidency or hold Ken Starr at bay?

I read some quotes from Tony Snow back when Clinton was president, and he had some interesting things to say about it.

I was floored when I heard that the offer was to have officials testify in private, and not under oath. I honestly am wondering what in the world is going on in my country these days.
-
Same with me, I can feel it if I try, but it doesn't show at all. Nothing sticking out of the skin - I don't think I'd have done the band if there were!

Can I make this work???
lisah25 replied to LstNTranslation's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I live in the US, but I don't cook much either, we eat out a lot. And so far, I've found something I can have on pretty much any menu. When I do cook, it's something simple, from scrambled eggs to salmon, and a steamed veggie. The food restrictions aren't as bad as I thought they might be, and usually you can find protien and veggies in some form. For me, Pasta and softer bread is a problem. Rice can be, depends on how much I eat. I think you can do this, you will just have to be flexible and creative. It's worth it!
