Christian Boylove Forum - It's good to see mainstream Christians loosening up a bit
lisah25 replied to marjon9's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm sure some people 20 years ago did indeed say that they would never accept a woman getting pregant out of wedlock. And there are a few nuts now who are OK with pedophila. For me, the difference is in who is harmed. A woman getting pregant but not married doesn't really have a victim, no in the way a child being molested does. So it's easier to see as acceptable. Does that make any sense? I see it as less of a gap now between how people really live and how they want others to believe they do then there was some years ago. I think we are just more open, I'm not sure that's always a good thing. But I was concieved out of wedlock 44 years ago. My birth mother was a 17 YO who didn't marry my birth father. My father had an affair that broke up his marriage to my mom and produced my 1/2 sibs 30 some years ago. -
I add Benefiber to my morning latte. 2 tsps, it disolves quickly, doesn't thicken up and has no taste at all. It seem to keep things, well, moving along...

I don't think most people regardless of faith condone this! I read your comment, then Carlene's below. And started to wonder if things have changed all that much in 20 years. What I mean is a lot of what is done in the open now was done then, but hidden. How harmful was it I wonder for that child to find out that her birth as such a shameful thing? I have faith that most of us have a good enough moral compass that some things won't be acceptable. -
He was investigated for anything he ever touched(Ok, a little exagerated, but not much). After all that time and money, all they had on him was that he lied about a BJ.
-
And to me, the other point that is important is that just being able to eat without noticing any problems at the time doesn't mean you are OK and not causing yourself problems down the road.
-
OK, how do I say this delicately? One of my worst lovers had a "bad boy". DH is more moderatly endowed, and I've been happy with him for 15 years now...
-
Hey, he asked for it! I think the point is, for me at least, that we follow the instruction our doctors gave us. Yes, we all have the same band, but I'll bet different doctors have different rates of complications. He said that he wasn't following what his doctor told him from what I read, I can't condone that. I was self-pay. And for $17,000, I'm going to do what the person I trusted to do my surgery told me to. It's just my opinion, no one has to listen to after all. :faint:
-
Yep - they think they just need to show up packing that bad boy and that's enough. And golly gee, it's just not...:heh:

I had to wait a month for solids! Two weeks liquids, then two weeks mushie food. Not fair!

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?
lisah25 replied to paladin's topic in Rants & Raves
Forget the double-sided tape, I'm still boggled by a man who actually wraps gifts. Or buys them...:heh: -
OK, you asked for it! Actually, it's just too late for you, so this is for all the newbies reading and thinking what you did is a good idea! Eating too soon can cause problems later, even if you don't feel anything now. And I don't know, but I don't think washing the food through with Water totally migates that. The part of your stomach below the band would have to move to digest the food, right? So it would seem that might be a problem. It's not even about losing weight. It's about letting the band heal up in place to it can do it's bandy little best to help you later. Ok, done ranting... for now...:heh:

Woo HOO!! Supreme Court upholds Partial Birth Abortion Ban!!!!
lisah25 replied to gadgetlady's topic in Rants & Raves
You really summed up how I feel about this issue. I believe there are legitimate reasons to count life begining at different points during pregnancy. It's for that reason I oppose outlawing abortions, and leaving it as a private decision. -

I think it's a common stance. I am personally against abortion. However, I also firmly believe it is an area where the decision should not be made by the government. -

Hi FunnyDuddies! Your story makes me think that how the decision to have an abortion is made needs to change. At the same time, for everyone like you, there is someone who was very sure that an abortion was the right thing for her, and a law preventing her from doing that would be as wrong, in my opinion at least, as what you describe you went through. -
I'm glad you have a good birthday!

OT- Forum layout change=forum doesnt work as well

I like the new colors, but when I click on the arrow that used to take me to unread messages in a thread, I get an error page. -
My feelings - God provided me with the ability and resources to get a band. Believe me, you will still need help after the surgery, and God will be there for you then.

So glad to here from you TOM, I was getting worried but hoping you were OK.

Directed To Self-Payors
lisah25 replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, it was a concern, DH and I both self-payed. As has been pointed out, some things like a heart attack or stroke would probably be covered. My surgeon has a thing where he will waive his fees, and his clinics fees, for self-payors for any band-related problems. That helped me feel better. -
Need advice on how to tell my mom to quit the rude LB remarks
lisah25 replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like Wendell's idea! Most likely, you won't be able to stop her remarks. So what you really need to decide is how much power to give them. I think your decision very likely does tap into some of her issues with her body, but that's her problem. Do you on any level think you are indeed taking the easy way out? Or is it that you want support from her, not jabs? -

Are you saying that not producing kids is a sin? -
Now that makes a great deal of sense to me!
-
Well, yeah there are of course those who hold different opinions. Different issue the Gore's debating them.
-
Unless I'm reading this wrong, it's only one person who wants to debate Gore, and your link says this: "Monckton was once an advisor to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He points out that like Gore, he is not a scientist or economist, although he has written several essays challenging the idea that global warming is a crisis." So, he's really not refusing to debate "scientists" but one person who isn' t one. And doesn't play one on TV.

Me too! I'm lucky, it's still alive in my neighborhood, even with a hubby. We have a wonderful neighbor who helps with the few things we can't do, and more then once he's come over to help me if he sees me come home with bags of groceries. Another neighbor is as helpful, and he always opens the car door for his wife then they leave to go somewhere.
