HELP Financing Suggestions/I'm about to give up
J-RO replied to jjolive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I chose Dr. Aceves in Mexicali because he had a similar plan as Bajanor. He operates at a hospital and offers "in house" financing through docpay. $5000 at time of surgery and 12 months to pay the remaining amount. I have been very happy with my results and it has been worth every penny. -
Dr. Veninga in Carrollton takes UHC and will work with mexico patients.

I sought out a counselor about a month before being banded in Mexico. I established rapport with her before surgery, which helped A LOT! I continue to see her. It was one of the smartest things I've done in my life ever! I've gone through counseling before for my eating/emotional issues and always made some progress, but returned back to my old habits of relying on food. This time is different. This time I am not able to turn to food when I am sad, so the band is forcing me to work through my issues. I am now almost 4 weeks post op. I continue to see a therapist to work on my "issues" and plan to do so until they are no longer an issue, simply memories.

The last straw (there were several) -not fitting in a wheelchair at the hospital when I hurt my ankle -hitting an all-time high of 301, I swore I would never hit 300 -not fitting in the rides at an amusement park -not fitting in chair at the movies -not fitting in the airplane seat, having to ask for an extender -buying size 28 jeans (devastating) -facing a lifetime of depression -not being able to get pregnant after a year of trying

My husband said the same thing....after I glared at him he realized it wasn't funny! I would kill for a big fat pizza right now, but I'm keeping my eye on the prize!

I am getting banded on June 16th with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali! I've been on the pre-op diet (high protein, low fat) for a week and have lost 13 lbs.!! Good luck to all of you getting banded in June! I have isopure, gatorade, broth, and jello on stand-by for when we get back. I've been wanting to do this for 8 years and it is finally happening! WOW!
