Sounds like you have hit a plateau. Are you exercising? Remember to take small sips of liquids (1 to 2 ounces). Chew everything, then chew again, and again... Go back to the basics of lapband eating. You will drop weight. Your body is still trying to adjust. Best of luck!

Congratulations! Each day brings renewed appreciation for the blessings we have.

Amen! I was banded on 3/30/09, and I've lost 31 lbs also. I am not going down in clothes sizes yet either. I am eating right, and exercise daily. I can't wait to actually see a difference. We'll make it...Hang in there.

Pain around my belly button??
babertm replied to MissMe27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that the gas can move around. I would definitely ask the doc/nurse to be sure since it is continuing... -
I didn't feel any restriction on the first fill so I move my second fill up by 3 weeks. I had my second fill on June 10th. Man alive, I can feel the restriction now... Liquids are no problem, but solids are a different story. I really have to eat slow, tiny, tiny bits, and chew, chew, chew... Best of luck to you...

One more day! I have always been told..."Pray for it depends on God, and work for it depends on you." You can do this. Happy day before your new birthday!

Glad you are feeling much better. I also had some pain, but was told beforehand that I would. My previous gall bladder surgery though was much harder. It took me about 7 days before I felt "normal" again...

How to deal with unsupportive friends/family
babertm replied to Deekel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Deekel, I was banded on 3/30/09. I did things a little different from most people. I told everyone! I had both positive and negative comments. I wanted this so bad. My hubby was supportive, but was nervous. I took him with me to the seminar so he could talk with the doctor. I actually wanted the gastric bypass, but hubby was more comfortable with the band. And in the end, the band has been the best choice. I needed the accountability from others. Plus I was so excited, I couldn't shut up. lol!! I am down 31 pounds. It's a great tool to help. I agree with everyone though. You have to make the decision for yourself. This is about you. Best of wishes. God Bless You! -
Hi Lindseyb, Congratulations on your surgery! Happy Birthday to the new you! I noticed you were from TN. I am from the East TN Area (Knoxville). You have made the right decision. I was banded on 3/30/09; just had my second fill this morning. You are only 5 days post-op so you will be feeling some pain from gas and incision points (most likely). Add protein powder to your soups, drinks, etc., to get your protein in for the day. Just be careful to do 2 oz fluids every 15 minutes (my doc orders). By day 7-10, you should be getting some relief. I actually was a little down/depressed for about 4 days. Absolutely, no reason to be, but I was. The doc said that was normal for some people. Hang in there. Let me know if I can be of help. God Bless!

I am 4 days away from being 3 months post-op and I am down 61.5 pounds
babertm commented on Gregnlr's blog entry in Blog 56078
That's amazing! I am excited for you, but at the same time envious. I eleven weeks post-op and I am down 31 pounds. I am working out 5 days a week. I do a protein shake for breakfast, small protein of some type for lunch, same for dinner. You are inspiring!! I need to kick it up some. I just had my second fill this morning. Hoping to feel more restriction. Thanks for the inspiration! -
Happy Birthday! Congratulations! A new life is on the horizon.

Can somebody answer some questions for me?
babertm commented on NewMechelle's blog entry in Blog 64737
I was banded on 3/30/09. I didn't feel any hunger for about 3 weeks. Then I was hungry. My first feel was 6 weeks post-op. Didn't have any restriction. My second fill is tomorrow. I am very hopeful that I will have some restriction. Because right now, I can eat anything. The period between 2-3 weeks post surgery till your first/second fill is called "Bandster's Hell." It requires lots of willpower (at least for me it did). You will make this a success. Remember that the band is just a tool for us. We still have to keep working. I keep reminding myself of that. I want this to be the magic pill with little effort on my part, but it "ain't" so... We'll make it through. This forum/blog is wonderful, and I have learned more from all these people than my doctor's office. It's invaluable to all of us. Best wishes, and God Bless You! -
I am so disappointed in myself. I was on travel for work last week. Too much social networking, drinking, eating... I had no control at all. I am so angry with myself. I get my second fill this Wednesday (6/10). I hope it works. The first fill did nothing. When I weigh in, it'll be a miracle if I didn't gain anything. Sooo basically, I've wasted a month. The head game is so hard. Will I ever get a grip on food? I hate to think that something (food) can have such control over me. Do we ever learn!!!

Things taste different after surgery. Can't explain it, but they do. Take it easy...
-
Bless your heart. I have my second fill on Wednesday. I have been the same as you. I could basically eat anything (and did) I want. I am hoping that the second fill will provide restriction. However, from what you are describing, you are too tight. They haven't found her sweet spot yet. I would continue to call the doctor. You have had plenty of time to "heal." (Comments just from what I have read of others experience.)

Yeah! That is awesome! Congrats on both your lose and your new appetite. I am looking forward to the same.

Welcome to "Bandster's Hell." The time between surgery and the first fill. I had my first fill 6 weeks after my surgery, and haven't felt much restriction. My second fill is scheduled for June 10th, and I hope to have some restriction. You really have to control what you eat, make sure you move more (exercise), and make good food selections. Best of luck to you.

Wow! I was on liquids for a week post-op then soft foods for 2 weeks then to normal foods. Your "insides" have to have a chance to heal. Take it easy.
-
I was banded on 3/30/09. After 2 weeks, I was on soft foods, now normal foods. Seems like a long time to be on liquids. Ask your nutrionist would be able to determine if you were ready for soft/mushie foods. Good luck!

Memorial Day Challege.....- 100 lbs
babertm commented on julie.ann's blog entry in My Secret Journey
What an encouragement you are! I am eight weeks post op, and I am only down 25 lbs. I am trying to think positive, but it's disheartening at times. I am exercising, but need to focus on eating the right foods more. Your journey is an inspiration for those of us who follow.... -
Don't give up. Cassy--that is wonderful advice. I plan to use it also. I have been told (repeatedly) that the answer to weight loss is "protein." Eat lots of protein. Best of wishes, BioTeacher. You will succeed. Keep positive thoughts and focus.

I want to be successful........ I just don't seem to get it...

For me, it's about changing my mind set as much as it is about the band. I was banded on 3/30, first fill on 5/13. I have to be extremely careful because I can still eat just about anything I want. I haven't found the "sweet spot" yet. Second fill scheduled for 6/10. I am having to excercise. Don't enjoy it, but I have a goal. I have to push myself. The band isn't a majic pill. It's a wonderful tool. Something that we have to work though. Focus on your goals. Write them down. Talk with your nutrionist. Make sure you are journaling everything that you eat! Everything! You may be surprised at what you are consuming. Best of wishes to you. Focus and you will prevail. -
It took me 2 full weeks before I felt better. It's really a major surgery. Your body needs time to heal. You have made a wonderful decision. Happy Birthday to the new you!

Congratulations! You will do great. You have a wonderful future ahead.
