    Arizona Nurses???

Have you ever seen a nurses station without a jar of candy or a box of donuts???

    Arizona Nurses???

Amazing how many nurses are on this site. As a rule we are lousy patients, but we sure know how to do our research, it will be great to correspond with eachother about our experiences!

    Protein Powders

Where do you get unflavored protein powder? Sounds like a great idea!

    July Sleever's

Maybe I'll see you when I get there, just before you leave!
  5. I've heard a lot of sleevers complaining about the gas pains post op. I am an RN and worked post-op for many years. One of the best remedies I have come across was warm lemon juice. It works every time! A very small amount drank slowly would relieve the gas within minutes. Just wondering if this is "legal" clear liquid for immediately post-op with the sleeve?

    Soon to have the sleeve

Wow! You look great! Glad all went well. Now rest up and here's to quick healing!

    Relief of Post-op Gas

Well, I guess only trying the different ways to relieve the gas will tell. I will try the warm lemon juice, Rosebud2-you try the gas-x, of course we will all be walking it off, and then we'll compare notes! As with all surgeries, everyone recovers differently!

A New Home - Sleeve People!

I have told absolutely no one, except my son who is going to take me to the hospital and pick me up. I told my boss I need time off for some "minor" surgery. She asked no questions. When I get home from Mexico, and all is well, perhaps I will tell my family. I just don't want to deal with the aggravation I KNOW I will get from them until it's a done deal.

    All liquids

I ordered some of the Lean Dessert protein mix....I hope it's good. I'll let you know!
  10. Congrats on your anniversary WASa! You are truley an inspiration for us all!

    Oo-oo-oo

Sounds like they might have used steri-strips which are strips of adhesive paper tape used with an adhesive liquid to help them stick. They will eventually fall off on their own after a week or two. Does it have lines going through it? If so, thats what it is. VergasAngel, as far as allergies, it sounds like perhaps the latex or plastic in the tape and bandaids may cause skin rashes. Ask for paper tape. Most people handle that without problems.

    Relief of Post-op Gas

true about the acidity. I might give it a try, though slowly and watered down, if gas becomes a big problem for me. I'll let you know how it works out.

Why would you leave the US for surgery?

It's all about research...WASa...you couldn't have put it more eloquently. Thanks for speaking for us all.

    All liquids

Okay, guys. Now I'm completely confused. During my first month post-op, what is the best way to get the "good" protein that is also, ummmm, palatable? I'm glad this conversation came now. I was just getting ready to order the IDS shots. Oh well.
  15. Carolnphx, I am also a nurse here in phx. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much for your post about youre progression from clears to solids. My surgery with Dr Aceves is July 10th (I seem to say that every time I post, I think seeing the date makes it more real!) and I have been wondering what to expect after the clears, fulls and mushies. Not much is posted after those stages. Now I have a much clearer idea, and I am much more sure I CAN do this! THANK YOU.

    Medications

RoseBud, I'm glad youre okay. I will definately talk to my PCP before my surgery, as I take two BP meds and I hadn't even thought of the possibility of not being able to take them during the first post op period. Is it just a matter of getting the pills down, or is it digesting them? I take meds for other issues too.

    New Addiction?

I am scheduled for July 10th, and I too, am a bit worried about replacing my "food compulsion" with something more healthful. To help pay for the surgery I sold my ceramic kiln and potters wheel, so I can't fall back on that hobby right away. I have been such a couch potato lately, that I have a fear of exercising. I am a passionate scuba diver and my last trip (which was last week by the way) just reminded me how out of shape I am. My son had to carry my tank and help me out of the water with every dive. I was devastated. I really want to get up and move, but my mind keeps saying "when you lose some weight, then you will feel up to excercising." Its all backwards. I don't fear the post-op diet...I'm prepared for that. I just hope I can get myself off the couch!

    And me!! Thanks!
  21. Alex, I have tried over and over to use ticker factory and all i get is a link. dI know you said you were able to do it flawlessly. What could I possibly be doing wrong? I had no trouble on lapband, so I know how to use it. It's just not working here.

    No Regrets

Elisabeth, Thanks for your journal. I also am an RN and work nights. So I was wondering if I would be able to go back to work after one week. I work peds so no heavy lifting anyway. I was glad to hear that you did well at work after only a week. My surgery is July 10 with Dr Aceves and I can't wait!

Liquid jello? sounds do-able. Let us know how they are. I think I could handle 3 oz., even if theyre not great.
