  1. I had the choice of Medifast, carnation instant Breakfast drinks or Slimfast Low Carbs for my drinks. I chose Slimfast. I drink 3 of those a day and then get 5-7 oz of Protein (depending on the type) and 3 servings (1/2 cup each except for lettuce) of veggies. They said I could also have sliced cucumbers or sugar-free popcicles or Jello. It's amazing how each doctor differs in the diet they give out. I had some of my protein for lunch so I'm feeling much better. The hard part is remembering that I can't have things. I ate so often out of habit that I would pop a piece of candy without thinking about it. At least I'm at work and have no food temptation, i know it must be hard to be at home with Snacks.
  2. I was lucky or unlucky that I'm self-pay so I start my real official diet with the pre-op tomorrow. I do get some food so I'm assuming I'll survive. One of my friends knows how cranky I get when I'm hungry so he asks that I pick my one meal of the day as breakfast since I see him in the mornings :tongue2: I think it's my poor husband who is going to suffer the most from the diet. Congrats to all that are getting their dates. It's kind of like Xmas. It's here before you know it.
  3. I actually drink the Slim-Fast drinks when I can't grab lunch so I'm not worried not liking the liquid (I actually drink them warm so obviously I can eat anything). I'm usually really good controlling my appetite all day and then get home and eat like a bear. My cats probably run in fear. I know the first few days will be the worst because of all the sugar I've eaten lately. I didn't get instruction on how much before surgery I need to get my blood work so I'm thinking maybe Saturday since it's fasting and I work in DC. Traffic is a pain to come in later in the day. I don't want any surprises so I'd like to get it done earlier just in case they need to change anything. I don't want it to be the day before or something. It's very nice to talk to someone going through the same thing. I can't wait to see what I'm like in a few days. I'll probably just be typing one word replies cause I'm weak or cranky...LOL
  4. You're not a liar, Good intentions are often over-ruled by a good pizza. I had it Monday so I would know. I think my strategy is that I've made myself half-sick from all the stuff I've been eating that I'm now actually looking forward to eating less and it not making me feel so terrible. Have you finished everything but the diet? Did you do your blood work yet?
  5. Oh I've been eating crap, I even had donuts today. I never have donuts. I was going to start being better but truth is I will probably wait until Thursday. I'm much better with deadlines. I'm 5'4" so almost the same height. The only thing I'm worried about is that I'm anemic and they will get my blood results and cancel my surgery. I've been taking Iron pills to see if I can avoid this. Of course the other thing I'm worried about is failure. I want to start so I can see that it's not like all the other times I've tried.
  6. Hi there. I see we have the same date so I think I will definitely know some of the feelings you are going through. Feel free to drop me a line.:bored:
  7. I was just wondering how everyone who has started the pre-op diet is doing. I start on Thursday and I figured a couple of you may have just started to give me an idea of how you're feeling.

    sleep apnea?

I did my test in July and I was told I only had mild apnea that they believed would be corrected with weight loss from the band. I think of all the pre-testing the sleep study was the hardest for me cause I'm not a good sleeper. I probably willed myself to breath so I didn't have to repeat it....lol It was hard to sleep in a strange place. I think it helps to really tire yourself out so you can fall asleep faster. Good Luck.
  9. We appreciate you taking the time to do this. It's actually really good to know who we can check in on to see how they are doing. I can't imagine what I would be like if I hadn't found this site. I don't think friends or family can understand what this means for us (unless they had it too). :smile2:
  10. I am purposely not taking my before pictures until Thursday when I start the diet cause I don't want to cry. I alternate between excited and nervous. I've lived this cycle of food as friend and enemy for so long that it will be strange just to view it as just nutrition. I seriously think of food so often that I'm not sure what I'll do with all my free time.....lol.
  11. Thanks Danyett. Looks like we have about the same amount of weight to lose. I'm trying not to go crazy with my clock ticking down until the pre-op diet. I'm just so ready to get this weight off. I was thinking this weekend that this will be the last few days that I will ever be this heavy. I bought some clothes with the idea that I won't ever have to buy a size bigger. It's really helped gear me up.
  12. I got my call yesterday that my surgery is scheduled for October 8th. I start the pre-op diet the 25th. I'm excited but the reality is starting to set in. I know it won't be easy and reading the posts here I feel like I have a better idea just how hard it will be. Glad to know there are people who are going through the same thing.
  13. I've been reading the boards for a while and haven't ever posted but here I am. I've been told that I should be able to have my surgery October 1st but I will probably see if I can have it the next week due to work. I just need to get cleared by my cardiologist tomorrow then I'm finally finished. I'm self-pay but I have a hiatal hernia that needs to be repaired so I'm hoping that will help pay for some of the overnight hospital visit. I use the car payment idea too. I'll have more use out of this than a car. I will admit that for the past month I feel like I've been doing the "Farewell to Food Tour" I have hit all my favorite restaurants and I know I've gained weight. I've never eaten like this my entire life. I'm the heaviest I've ever been so now that I know my surgery and that pre-op diet is around the bend, I'm ready to buckle down. I actually miss eating healthy. I'm like the fattest "healthy' eater I know. I just keep thinking that the more weight I take off without the band, the less I will need to take off with it. Good luck to everyone. :blushing:
