Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
SpideyMom replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, Renee, that's awesome!! And it's good to see you back here again. Rebecca, I'm in the same boat -- no loss for me, either. I went back to the doc today to get a refill. He almost wouldn't do it, since I've had 3 unfills since October. But since I feel lately like I have zero restriction, we compromised and he put in 3 ccs, rather than the 5 that he took out four weeks ago. I ate some soup when I came back, and I can already tell the difference, thank God!! I was eating everything in sight... still sugar-free and no white carbs, though. -
Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

I had really hoped to have all my weight lost by my 1-year anniversary (a personal challenge), but it's not going to happen. Oh, well. It will eventually. That's the important thing! -

Still the same. Really want restriction back. LOM, my last 15 are hanging on for dear life, also. So frustating! -
Not a bad idea. I've had .2 cc put in before, and it's amazing how just a teeny tiny amount can make a difference!

Anyone considering revision?
SpideyMom replied to Dani257969's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes, I agree. Don't let your band stay too tight. I've done that twice now after something got stuck, and it takes a while for the swelling to down. Not fun. I'm the same way with my restriction, too, Dani. 6 cc is way too little for me-- I can eat anything and large amounts of it. But above 7.5, I'm getting stuck a lot. So, I seem to do best right around 7. It's very frustrating sometimes! You're doing an awesome job, Dani. Please don't get discouraged. Look at how far you've come in less than a year!!!:thumbup::eek: -
Oh, you poor thing, Gaye. I know how awful that can be! I had an unfill 3 weeks ago because something I ate got stuck and caused a lot of swelling and pain. I go back next Friday to get a refill. What a relief it was to get that unfill, though! It's too bad these bands don't have a dial that we can just self-adjust! lol Glad you're feeling better now!

Hey, Dani. Sorry to hear that you're having such troubles. Didn't the surgeon who did you gallbladder surgery send you in for an ultrasound to check for stones before removing your gallbladder?? It sure sounded like you were having gallbladder attacks by the way you described the pain between your shoulder blades. (Been there, done that!) Maybe you should talk with a different LapBand surgeon about your struggles with restriction before considering yet another surgery. I'd hate for you to have to go through even more pain and turmoil! Hang in there and keep us updated! -
OMG, I am soooo happy!!!!! I have the biggest smile on my face today! I told a few friends at work that the day I came in wearing a dress, they would know I had lost 100 lbs. (I always wear jeans to work.) Well, today was the magic day! Here are my before and after photos; they are also in my profile, along with progress photos. I'm sooo excited!!!

Thanks! I've lost a few more pounds, but my doc thinks my body is settling in where it wants to maintain. I still want to lose another 15 lbs, but it is much harder now!!

The worst PB Episode EVER today....
SpideyMom replied to sarahbellzz14-4's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You poor thing! I've had some of my worst PBs with scrambled eggs. You'd think I'd stop eating them after the first time, but I *love* scrambled eggs, and I keep thinking it was just a fluke. I've now had to have TWO unfills because of eggs that caused subsequent inflammation. *sigh* I've yet to have something like this happen in front of people other than my DH, and I'm terrified that it will happen someday at a dinner party b/c we belong to a dinner club and often try new foods. -
Aw, congratulations, everyone! What fun and exciting NSVs!!!!:hurray: I saw someone today who I hadn't seen in a year. He didn't recognize me, even though I was talking to him. I didn't let on b/c I wanted to see him squirm, trying desperately to figure out who this woman was. LOL

Sarah, glad to hear you are feeling better. How scary! Rebecca, congrats on hitting the 50 lb. mark! John, great job w/your Mexico trip! LOM, keep up the great work! WTG! Me, I still haven't lost anything ... ping-ponging up and down 1-2 pounds and getting terribly frustrated. Went back to tracking on the Daily Plate yesterday, so I hope that helps. Need to get more exercise in now that the warm weather is finally here!! -
WOW! Look at that flat stomach! Way to go!!!:w00t::thumbup::wub: Thanks for keeping us updated. It's great to hear from you. Keep up the fantastic work!

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
SpideyMom replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, all. I haven't been around much because I've been sick. Haven't lost anything. Been going up and down 2 lbs, which is driving me crazy. And today I have to go in for an unfill because I got stuck on some corned beef (yum!) at a St. Patty's Day party and it has caused inflammation that won't go away, despite me doing soup and protein drinks for a week. Last night and the night before I had reflux, so I realized it was time to call. I'm bummed. I hate when this happens! -
Thanks again, everyone! Martytx3, I also sometimes feel hungry shortly after eating. Usually that means I need to go in for a fill. Also, I don't limit myself to 1/2 a cup. I usually eat 1-2 cups of food per meal, depending on the type of food it is. My surgeon has told me there is no problem with that amount. My calorie intake is around 1200. I would highly recommend The Daily Plate to track your weight, food, and exercise. I don't track it daily anymore, but boy, is that a good tool!! Most of all, don't get discouraged! And if you need to go back to your doctor to ask for help, go back. Do not feel ashamed if you don't think you've done as well as you had hoped. Don't give up on yourself!

Wow! You both look awesome! I'm so happy for you!!

HOORAY, Dani!!!!! Way to go!!!!:biggrin::wub::biggrin: You know what that means.... the dancing vitamins!!!!
-
Thank you, thank you! I'm still smiling! I am so happy I made this decision last year. It has changed my life!
-
Dani, I don't know why I didn't think of that before! I had the same thing happen to me 8 years ago after I lost 70 lbs. on WW. The back pain was right between my shoulder blades. It's a very common diagnosis after a large weight loss. I'm glad you figured it out b/c gallstones are NO fun! If a stone tries to pass, it can feel like you are having a heart attack. But once you have it out, you will feel like a new woman! Try to avoid fatty foods until your surgery. That will help prevent an attack. And btw, the GB surgery is a walk in the park compared to WLS. Easy-breezy! Do you know when your surgery is? Good luck to you! And congrats on being more than halfway there! :smile2:

Thanks, everyone  -- especially to John, because YOU were my inspiration! Socalband, I've been lucky with my skin, and I won't be having plastic surgery. Sure, I'm never going to have a flat tummy and wear a bikini, but I never wore one even when I was really skinny in high school and college, so why start now? lol Plus, it would have to be self-pay, and I just can't afford it. One of the things I do regularly is slather myself with lots of lotion, with the idea that very moisturized skin will bounce back easier than dry skin. I even use firming lotion on my upper arms, my stomach, and neck. Not sure if any of that really helps, but I figure it can't hurt! :scared2: I should add that I don't have much of a panniculus compared to others because I am very pear-shaped, not apple-shaped. That makes a difference.
