2nd/Third - Follow Up Fill Experiences

Well, I'm back from my quickly-scheduled 2nd fill! At first the surgeon put in 1 cc, but the Water was going down like a slow drain, I told him. It wasn't coming back up, but I could definitely feel that it was much, much tighter than it had been! After discussing it a while with me and his assistant, we all agreed that it was best to take a little bit out because he really felt that I would probably have trouble over the weekend. So, he took out about half. So I now have about 6.5 cc in my 10 cc band. He told me I could come back in 2-3 weeks if that wasn't enough, but otherwise, come back in 6 weeks. He also said he only wants to put in 0.5 ccs each time now. He's very conservative. Super nice guy, though! :tongue_smilie: So tonight will be Soup or a Protein drink, and tomorrow will be yogurt and mushies. Here's to more restriction!!! :frown:

2nd/Third - Follow Up Fill Experiences

Good for you, John. You did the right thing-- you listened to your body! :frown: Glad you got some relief! After a terrible lunch hour of not being able to get full and finally resorting to the *gasp* vending machine !!! (thankfully it had mixed nuts), I emailed my nurse and told her how hungry I was and how I could eat up to two cups of food and still be hungry two hours later. Within a half hour, I was squeezed into this afternoon's schedule for my second fill. :tongue_smilie: Like you, John, I thought I could ride it out until my scheduled appointment in two weeks, but then I thought, this is ridiculous! I need to pay attention to my body's signals. So, I leave in about a 1/2 hour to go to the hospital. *whew* I'll check back later.

2nd/Third - Follow Up Fill Experiences

blklab, congrats on the 57 lbs! And thanks for the 411 on the hiccups! xavier, that is wild about the picture! My surgeon had said he would give me a pic, but then he forgot. I was going to ask him for one this next time. I'm *really* curious now!! Funny thing, I was just thinking about visceral fat this morning (though I didn't know the name for it at the time). Your post has been very timely and informative! Thanks!
  4. I heard someone say they named their band. I never thought of that! Have you named your band? If so, are you willing to share its name and why you named it that? I think it's sort of a cute idea!
  5. Has anyone else started experiencing unpleasant side effects of weight loss? My hair has started falling out and I've got horrible bad breath now! I've read that both can be side effects of rapid weight loss, but I'm not sure how to deal with them! Any suggestions? I'm taking Biotin and Vitamin D to hopefully help my hair (but I was taking that before it starting falling out), and I'm using Listerine strips between teeth brushings. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated! TIA!

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

pvtash, if you go up to you login name in the right-hand corner of this page, right below it is a button that says "Quick Links." Click on that once, and a drop-down menu will appear. Near the bottom is "Edit Signature." Click on that, and it will take you to where you need to paste the code that you copied from the ticker factory. You need to be sure you have carefully copied all characters in that long string of code or it won't show up correctly. There is a preview button underneath the edit signature box so you can make sure you got it right. Good luck! :smile2:

    Dealing with unpleasant side effects

Thanks for the advice! I've had it happen before when I was on WW and lost a lot of weight. I'm doing pretty well with my protein, but maybe I should start checking my fat intake.
  11. Congrats, everyone! And good luck with those second fills! I'm in the same boat as some of you -- hungry all the time and desperately awaiting my second fill to get the scale jumping again. It's frustrating to lose restriction!

Everyone is doing so well! Congrats! Wow, Julie, you really lost 7.5 lbs. in one week? That's amazing! John, I feel your pain. I've lost restriction also, but my next fill isn't until July 24. I'm hungry!!!

    Distasteful

Well, I can tell you that I experienced something over the weekend that I never thought would ever happen in my lifetime. I took a bite of corn on the cob (sweet corn) and it was TOO SWEET! ME??? Say something was too sweet???? Never. Well, since giving up refined sugar when I got banded, I guess my tastebuds have changed! OMG! So, what did I do? I salted it down and ate it. LOL It was quite nice then. I am glad that my tastes are changing, though!
  15. I have 6 ccs and can eat over a cup, and I plan on making an appointment for a fill sooner than my next scheduled appointment. I would think that given your past history, you should call your doc asap just to be safe! Good luck! :tongue_smilie:
  16. Yes, Juniper, tell him to count his blessings, then hand him a pair of earplugs. LOL :tongue_smilie: Sarahbellz, sorry to hear about your awful boss. Good luck with your interviews!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

I cleared my drawers of six or seven pairs of jeans that were too big and went shopping for new ones over the weekend! I'm down two sizes -- hooray! :tongue_smilie:

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Well, this was a disappointing week for me. I seem to have lost all restriction! I went from lamenting about wanting to eat more to suddenly able to eat up to TWO cups of food without feeling full. And the scale showed it. I was up and down a pound all week, but the net gain/loss was zero. I stayed the same. But, I definitely think it's time for a fill. I will probably call my surgeon next week b/c my fill's not scheduled until July 24. Bmaz, sorry I can't fly from the east coast to the west coast right now, but perhaps I can help you. At the top of this page, under your name, in the dark blue bar, you will see the words "Quick Links." Click on that once, and a drop-down menu will appear. About 2/3rds of the way down is "Edit Signature." Click on that, and it will take you immediately to the place you need to go to paste in your ticker code. I hope that helps! :smile2:

Interesting, singing, I've never heard of bandsters having trouble with hiccups! Yes, old habits die hard!

2nd/Third - Follow Up Fill Experiences

Oh, I hear ya, John. Been there myself. My surgeon's assistant told me to try not to bring it up but to rather sit there until the feeling went away. Was eating meatloaf last night and it got stuck. Tried her suggestion and oh, man, it took forever to go down! And I was hungry!! When will I ever learn to take smaller bites and slow down?
  23. You poor thing, Sarah. I know you've had to work really long hours, too. What kind of place do you work at? This economic crisis is awful. I'm just glad that we have something positive going on right now -- our super amazing bodies are emerging! Hang in there!!!
  24. Wow, you're all doing so well with your weight loss! Missbinda, I'm sorry to hear that your first fill was postponed. That must be so frustrating!!! It is interesting to see how different everyone's body is in terms of how much fill they need. My surgeon explained that it all depends on the size and shape of your stomach. When I got my first fill, I found out that I already had 5 cc's in from surgery! Yet I didn't feel any restriction. Then he only put in 1 cc and I felt it. Strange. Now that I am 3 1/2 weeks out from my fill, I'm starting to lose that restriction feeling. I have to wait until July 24 for my next fill. I'm sure I'll be ready by then! Good luck to everyone! Keep up the great work!
