Do you mean the PB2? I've looked for it in every store here in my area, to no avail. I just got my Byrd Mill peanut flour in the mail yesterday, and it is good, but it's different from PB2. You can definitely tell there is NO sugar in the Byrd Mill. Also, the Byrd Mill tastes like roasted peanuts fresh out of the shell. I definitely like it, but I would say, if you are looking for something that tastes just like Peanut Butter, opt for the PB2. :scared2: Any other interesting foods out there?? Here's a little tip that adds veggies to your day -- if you make your own Protein shakes, add some baby carrots to add Fiber and a little extra protein (1 g. for 10). Carrots don't alter the taste, in my opinion. I've even thrown some lettuce greens in there, in an attempt to get more veggies in my day! (However, the greens will alter the taste.)

Sick before sugery..will they still operate?????
SpideyMom replied to Jordangirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a really bad head cold, and it wasn't completely cleared up when my surgery date approached. I also was taking Muccinex and everything OTC that I could think of to get rid of it the week before. I felt fine, but wouldn't you know, after they got me all hooked up to the IVs and everything in the operating room, they took my temperature and I had a slight fever! They let me go ahead with the operation because the fever wasn't over 101 and I was going to get antibiotics during the surgery. After I woke up from the surgery, I felt great -- no head cold, no fever... just a really sore tummy. lol Good luck! -
NCLisa, you said you've had reflux since your fill 2 months ago. I think that's a huge red flag that you need a slight unfill... even if you had some reflux before banding. If it suddenly got worse since the fill, something is wrong, according my surgeon. I would suggest you call your doc right away just to be safe because all that acid can cause damage to your esophagus and a lot of swelling around your band. The longer it is swollen around your band, the longer it will take to recover from this. Believe me, I know because it happened to me last month. I didn't want an unfill, but finally I was so miserable I went in. The doc took out .5 cc and the relief was immediate! Oh, I was sooo glad I went. I've heard from other people that all it took for them was an unfill of .2 cc. So, don't worry, you're not going to suddenly lose all restriction and gain back weight. It's really worth it for your health. Call before it gets worse.

These sandwich thins are great! They don't get stuck (for me) if I toast them lightly first. I love them... almost too much! Pepperidge Farms also makes some called Deli Flats, I believe.

Tina, I know, it's frightening when you first start experiencing fibro fog, because you do start thinking about dementia and Alzheimers. But, not to worry, it is a real condition linked to FM. Here is just one of many articles written about it: How Fibro Fog Clouds Thinking and How to Break Through It - Chronic Pain - Health.com Cheers!

I like the Breakstone's 2% High Fiber cottage cheese that comes in a 4-pack. I mix one container (1/4 cup) with 1 small container of ready-to-eat sugar-free Jello. Sounds sorta strange, but it is really good! Got the idea from someone on LBT a few months ago. Orange Jello with the cottage cheese is reminiscent of a creamsicle. My favorite is black cherry. Yum! Never thought of yogurt and cottage cheese. Sounds interesting! I definitely want to try the ranch dip and yogurt next time I have to bring something to a party.

Wow, you look great, John!! And how sweet of you to give your dw a surprise party.

I'm eating at least 60, per my surgeon's suggestions.

Taz and Want so bad, what you very well might be experiencing is called "fibro fog." It is a problem that naturally happens just from having fibromyalgia. I've had it from the beginning, but some people don't develop it right away. Just like the symptoms of FM, it can ebb and flow. It is the worst when I don't get a good night's sleep or I'm having a flare-up. When that happens, I can't remember things -- especially where I put things (grrrr) -- and I cannot "find" words when I'm speaking. That's embarrassing. I'll be talking to someone and suddenly forget an everyday word, and there will be this long pause before either I can remember it or the other person interjects and says the word. I feel like such a dunce when that happens! But, people who know me understand. And, yes, certain medications can make the fibro fog worse. I found that although Lyrica helps me, but if I take more than 150 mg. a day, I have a very difficult time concentrating at work and finding words. And that's a problem for me, because I'm an editor! Hang in there... together we can help each other. :smile2: Glad this thread was started!!

Glad you're feeling better, Don. I also miss bread. I've discovered these wonderful little "Sandwich Thins" by Arnold, also called "Deli Flats" by Pepperidge Farms. I eat the whole wheat variety. They are delicious! I toast them lightly and because they are thinner than regular bread, but still have a chewy texture, they go down better but also satisfy the chewy bread need. Even my 5-year-old son likes them! (And he's very picky.) And I agree with Cathy, a chicken cooked with the skin and bones is much moister. We eat a lot of rotisserie chicken, without the skin. I especially like Peruvian chicken. Mmm-good! I have troubles with other kinds of chicken unless I put some type of sauce (e.g. salad dressing) on it to moisten it. It's definitely up there with bread as one of the major sticky foods. Oh, and scrambled eggs -- get stuck every time. Go figure! This is all a learning process. Thank God we have each other to lean on and learn from! Hang in there, and good luck!

Mmm... I love cabbage, Laura! I haven't had any in a long time. BTW, wanted to tell you that I found (and ordered) a new peanut powder today. It's from Byrd Mill, and it has no added sugar or salt, which PB2 has a little bit of. The real reason I ordered it is that it comes in 5 lb. increments, which saves a bundle of money! With shipping and handling and tax (which you only pay in VA), it is $30.56. For a 2-Tblsp. serving, you would get 80 servings out of 5 lbs., so the per serving cost would be 38 cents. Not bad! The nutritional info for 2 Tblsp is: 50 cal., 1.5 g. fat, 6 Protein. The nut. info for 2 Tblsp. regular Peanut Butter is: 190 cal, 16 g. fat, 7 protein. Hmm... which one do I want in my protein shake?? I'll let you know how the Byrd Mill peanut "flour" is.

Question about being "too restricted"
SpideyMom replied to Betelnut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If my surgeon heard your symptoms, he would want you in his office immediately for a slight unfill. I went through the same thing last month, and it continued to get worse instead of better. I finally went in for a very slight unfill and the relief was instant! I will never live with that pain again. I say call your doctor now... don't wait! HTH :cursing: PS - I live in the DC area, too, so I understand the traffic issue, but I think this is a case where you should say traffic be damned, my health is more important! -
How are you feeling now, Don? I hope that was just a one-time episode. You were so lucky to go for 5 months without having a pb or sliming experience. They are awful, aren't they? I pace, also. I don't know why.... I just can't sit still when that's happening. Hope things have settled down and that you're doing well! :scared2::cursing:
-
Wow,that's awesome, Sarah -- a size 10/12! :scared2: I wish I had the same thing happening, but I'm not. Just wanted to say way to go, girl! :cursing:
-
Thanks, Laura. I will continue to pursue Stevia. I think I'll shy away from the one that contains sugar, though, as I've been off all white sugar since May. I'll do some research and find out which brand that is. Thanks again! :cursing:
-
Way to go, Sarah! Don't worry, you'll be buttoning that suit jacket in no time! :cursing::thumbup::scared2:

Yes, I am feeling better, thanks, Sarah! And you're right -- being healthy is what matters. I have gone down 1.5 of the 3 that I gained, so I know it will all be off soon. My problem now is NO restriction whatsoever. Last night I had 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and big bowl of grapes before I started feeling full. :huh2: That's like normal-person eating! Even though the bread was toasted whole wheat, there was no way I could eat more than one slice before, and last night I ate four! (And yes, I must admit, I was searching for comfort food because I wasn't feeling well. A salad would have been better, but that's not the point here :cursing:.) On the Way, hang in there, and don't push yourself to go back to work before you are ready! You want to make sure that the port heals properly in place and doesn't have a chance to come loose. If you have more time to take off from work, I would take it -- and lie down and rest a lot! :scared2:
