Anyone see Drs. Juarez or Fang in Phoenix
shannybp replied to SueAZ's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi I went through true results in Scottsdale and I love them. I have had my band for over a year and have had some port issues. They have always been available to me to answer questions or to get me in if I needed an unfill. The surgeon even came in one day he was not scheduled to be there to help with the unfill. They would be worth looking into. I love them. Good luck !! -
Best Friend is so unsupportive!!!
shannybp replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ME and my best friend had some adjusting to do to after my surgery. She was always the thin one so I think she had some comfort in that. We have been friends forever so we finely had it out and said what we both needed to. Things are better now and she is supportive. May be you should try talking to her, if you want to save the relationship because at this point what do you have to lose. Good luck -

Hey Barbara Just wanted to get back to you. I haven't had any nips and tucks and not sure if I will. I could use a tummy tuck and thigh lift but I am a little afraid of going under anesthesia so I might just become really good and dressing to disguise it. Have a great week. And good luck with your journey.

Here is my dilemma, So I have lost quite a bit of weight and we are coming onto bathing suit season. My thighs are yucky there is extra skin. Do you have any suggestions on how to camouflage this in a bathing suit? Thanks

Hi you should call your doctor. I have had my band to tight but it keep me from eating mostly bread which was o.k. but you need to always be able to get liquids down. Don't worry about the weight loss it will come. It took about four months before I started to lose any weight. Good luck

I was in the red zone a couple times and when they took fluid out I would gain weight. It is your body adjusting to false weight lass is what my doctor told me. Keep up the good work and you will loss weight when you get to the sweet spot.

Hi So I will tell you a little about me. I have had my band for a year. I am 5'0 and weighted 198 on my day of surgery. I now weight 140. I also have two kids 7 and 5. But were 6 and 4 at the time. After the procedure I was uncomfortable but not really in pain. Where I get my fill the use a numbing medication so it has never really hurt and I have a hard port to find. I have been in the red zone a few times and this is uncomfortable but where I go they always get it taken care of. You have to know this is a tool and not a fix because until you understand that it can be really frustrating. With the ups and downs I would do this again because I want to be around long term for my children and for them to have an active mother. Make sure you look into where you are having it done and get feedback. May be check out a couple different places. After care is so so important. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Gold card member here to. Does the protein change the way the drink taste? I really like the idea. Usually have a nonfat toffee nut latte Venti and that is my breakfast. Not the best but if I add protein?

I have had my band for a year and have notices that I can not drink alcohol any more. More specifically I can not get drunk. I don't drink a lot but when I go to Vegas i do like to indulge. I don't try carbonated beverages. But I do like mixed drinks. The alcohol seems to just sit in my pouch and not taste the same and it also never seems to have any effect. Does anyone else notices a difference with drinking and the band?

banding this week and nervous
shannybp replied to misspeacock's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I dido that I was really scared, like wanted to get off the table scared (before I was put out) I have had mine for a year and am really glad I did it. Things will change make sure you have someone to talk to about it. You are lucky you have your hubby who will be going through the same thing as you. If you have questions don't feel scared about posting them someone always has had the problem or the same concern. But know this isn't a fix all it is just a tool and you still have to work at the weight loss. I know you will do great. -
Hi Deb and Becky My name is Shannon, I live in AZ and have been married for ten years this August. I have two children a son 7 and a daughter 5. I work part time as a therapist in family and marriage. I keep pretty busy with my kids. I just had my one year band aversary on March 12. It is exciting when you get your date but I also remember being really nervous. I hope your procedures go really well.

Wanting to avoid feeling sexualised as a barrier to weight loss
shannybp replied to kookaburra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I want to really encourage you in finding a professional to discuss these things with. As you start to lose weight you will get more attention from family and friends who are going to tell you how great you look. Also you are going to get more attention from strangers. I can't believe how much free stuff I get. Sad but true. It is hard for me at times to hear people say I can't believe how much weight you have lost, or you look so great. I didn't think that this would bother me to hear put it does and the worst part is I don't have friends who have been severely over weight and then lost it. So they don't understand. All my friend have either always been skinny or are still over weight and have the I wish I had the problem attitude. You want this to work for you so we have to change many aspects of our lives no just the food. Good luck. -
reflux, lapband, and Sertraline (zoloft) issues
shannybp replied to YankeesFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is so bizarre. I also take Zoloft and would have a burning in my throat. I also never put two and two together I have to break my in two pieces to get down. I also found it works better if I take it at separate time through out the day. -
Yep this happens to me I asked the Dr. and they said that the time of the month can make your band tighter. I have an IUD so it always sneaks up on me.
