 As I said on another similar thread, he did something not many of us will get to do....die doing what we really love to do!

Do you remember the Presidential Fitness testing - ugh!! Boy, did you sure bring back a blast from the past! I sure do remember the Presidential Fitness testing....I think I (seriously) was "sick", hurt myself, or was absent during a vast majority of that each year. I actually brought a splint from when my mom broke her finger to school with me with medical tape I took from home and wore it for almost a month so I didn't need an excuse from a dr. to get out of gym! Needless to say, the splingt came off when I got on the bus to go home in the afternoon cuz my mom would've killed me. Oh, when I did that, our elementary school PE teacher was a former Cleveland Force professional soccer player (very late 70's/early 80's). It worked though.....The only section of that I could ever pass was the sit ups. The person that came up w/that whole test I believe was also the inventor of the Iron maiden and other devices of torture featured on TLC's devices of torture special. I also hated (with a passion) gymnastics in PE.

Very well said!:high5: However, I think people need to be responsible for what fast food they eat. If you haven't seen SUPERSIZE ME, it's really interresting what is REALLY in the salads there, SUGAR! Yes, sugar!

What happend was totally unacceptable! I REALLY wasn't picked on too much in school because of my weight or being short. In 10th, 11th , and 12th I guess I was of an OK weight. My first boyfriend (and later my ex-husband) was 6' 3", 220 and I was 4'11", 120-ish (those sure WERE the days:dance:). One of the reasons I really need the band is because I don't want my toddler son to think it's OK to be fat, period. If I ever catch my kid laughing at an overweight person, there's going to be a problem! I think the parents should get involved (w/o the child really knowing, if possible). Not everyone was born a Jock! Then they wonder why kids are suicidal/homicidal....Come on folks, wake up!

Actually, the show where his dog died was on Discovery or Animal Planet a week or 2 ago. How ironic....Yes, it was a tear jerker! Like I said earlier, not only will my son miss him, but I will too. A long time ago there was a show on about him and his background of being a conservationist, which I thought was wonderful! Until then I thought he was just out to make a buck off the animals (like some of them do), but he taught people about animals and their plight for survival. His dad was on TV the other day (understandably upset and teary eyed) and said he didn't lose a son, but friend, I found THAT real touching...Guess it's a personal thing.

April Bandits, Steve Irwin, Croc Hunter!!!
dotofoz replied to amourette's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I'm one Yankie that will miss him too! -
Well....another LBT'er here VERY SORRY to see the passing of the Croc Hunter! I loved watching the shows with my 3 y.o.son, who is iterrested in animals because of those kind of shows. Personally, I would not have my child around those kind of reptiles, which I did see Bindi Sue with snakes and stuff, but I really doubt he'd put of his family in harms way on purpose w/o knowing what he was doing (I know, the holding Baby Bob while messing w/a croc was not too bright), but how many of us have NOT done stupid things? Needless to say I don't believe he did it again. Working w/wild animals is how how he made his living and if he and his wife were OK with it, they also were aware of the risks, then so be it. I'd very much rather my son watched this show than some of this other garbage out there. I really think Steve DID die doing what he loved, I really doubt that happens to a majority of folks that die. Also I was at StingRay city in Grand Cayman in 2000. I loved it and would go back in a heartbeat! (If I do go back, I'd like to be 100 lbs thinner than I am now). Like anything else, this was just an unfortunate, freak accident!

Tonja: I hate to say it, but half these morons at the ins co could care less what goes on. They have us by the short hairs and they know it. As long as they get their premiums, all is well. First I'd try speaking to a cust svc rep, then insisting on a supervisor. I'd also write down all info, who you spoke with, when, & what was said. Did you try going thru the policy holder's HR department liaison? Also, see if they have a web site where you can email questions.....And who says we don't need health care reform! PLease! This country is so Mucked Up it's not even funny. Then we wonder why all the businesses are heading elsewhere! I'll be sending you good vibes!:cheer2:

After growing up in Cleveland, and living in Wash DC for 8 years it was a hoot watching everyone in DC line up at the Safeway or Giant for TP, bread and milk. When I say line up, I mean lines to the back of the store in anticipation of "the BIG snow" (if an inch or 2 was predicted). Another PLease!

Ok, I missed the point on how "the Donald" and his bad hair and fat wallet got mixed up in this thread......

Well, in my situation, my shrink said how great I'd do at WLS, then the MMPI administering psychologist said I was "go", but needed my meds monitored b4, during & after surgery, the shrink sent a 2 line letter stating that I shouldn't have surgery (no reason given) and she doesn't see bariatric patients! That looks REAL GOOD for the insurance, huh? Needless to say I'm seeing another shrink 9/11, but she has delayed my progress over 2 months! Also this shrink is about my height and probably weighs all of 100 pounds, soaking wet! Like she knows what it's like! PLease! I'd outright ask your Dr. if he/she has ever been overweight to the capacity you are? Like I tell people, you have NO idea what it's like 'til you've been there!

Sorry, I'll pass on quoting a Bush, thanks for the info!

Couldn't have said it better myself!

nukempi: if you do a search on this site, I think it's Alexandra that has a GREAT example letter out there on why the band's better than RNY. It may be worth a search!

Well, for all of us that will be awaiting insurance approval, this really SUCKS! Sorry to be so blunt, but this'll just give me something else to worry about while trying to get approved! Check this out from MSNBC! If you have trouble w/the link, it's under today's health section. According to this article with "new" calculations, I'm "fit". Yes, I "FIT" right into a size 26 while being 4'11"! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14483512/ :faint:

What reason did you give your job for being out of work?
dotofoz replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sweetsue: I love the possibilities you gave here! Gave me a need laugh for today! Let's see, where I work, most of us have already been to (or should've been to) most of the above anyway! -
What reason did you give your job for being out of work?
dotofoz replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Providing I ever GET banded, I'm just saying it's surgery. The Dr. letter doesn't have be too specific for my work. I've told SOME people here, and one woman in my office was at the seminar, but she's going for RNY and 6 weeks of being off work. -
Well, I hope you're right. So far the BMI way is to my advantage. I also have since added lower back pain and plantar fasciitis (sp?) to my list of weight related issues, on top of the normal ones we all have. My chiropractor offered to write me band recommendation letter, yes I'm taking him up on his offer! ALCON, send me good vibes!

I live in a Cleveland suburb and drop my 3 yo off at a home daycare on way to work. She charges $150/week (going rate). She will also watch him for a few hours extra if needed. She has also had him overnite when I was out of town for work (@$35/nite). I like her alot and he's been going there for 2 years now. Wish I had family help, but I guess it wasn't in the stars for me!

Donna B: I'm almost 36 and had my very planned son when I was almost 33 while on marriage #2 (having #1 end was NOT my idea). My son is the most wonderful thing that EVER happened to me! I have absolutely NO experience w/adoption thus far, but if you and you your husband feel this is right for you, then go for it!!! I'm thinking the only thing you'll need is to give that little boy all your love and understanding. I'm sure he'll be in a much better home then w/the biological parents. Just because you biologically give someone life doesn't mean the child will be cared for properly. My only concern would be that the biological parents would some how swindle their way trying to get the baby back. I guess thru all the times I've been burned in one way or another, my trust in most folks have kinda fizzled out. I will tell you that when I was born, my mom was 42 (6 years post breast cancer) and dad was 48. My sister was 23 (with a 6 and 4 year old), other sister was 19, and brother was 14. Needless to say I was not the most planned pregnancy ever and this was in 1970, before it was "HIP" to have kids later in life. The doctors highly advised my mom to terminate the pregnancy, but due to her being a VERY strict catholic, that wasn't an option. The biggest downside is that my parents were just plain too tired for an infant, then kid. My dad was 48 and mom, post cancer, come on! When I was 12, she died of yes, cancer. Talk about trauma! My dad ended up being there for me, but then when I moved out on my own, he married my stepMONSTER, but that's another issue. I'm waiting 'til I get banded and drop some weight, then try for #2, then that's it.....

Did you try asking how far back the bank/credit card company keeps their microfiche records? It may cost you, but it will be worth it. Believe it or not I actually found my receipt from WW at home (2003) and Jenny Craig had my stuff from 2002 & 2005. It may be worth a call....I would think any prescription diet would be supervised, no? CVS had my RX records from 2000...

Check out the inamed web site, I think there might be some info on there or call their customer service....Also, do a quick search on this web site for appeal letter examples. There are some good ones out there....
