  1. Jack: I agree w/you 1 million%! I am proud to say that I didn't eat like it was my last meal over Easter yesterday. I made it a point NOT to shovel everything in, but small bites, and chew chew chew! I also know first had what it's like to PB & vomit, so that discouraged me also, maybe a good thing in disguise. I go for first fill tomorrow, hopefully restriction will make the hunger pangs fade. :decision:

    Birth Control/Hormone Questions!

I had to stop 6 weeks before surgery and can't resume 'til Sunday, which will be first Sunday after my 6 week post op date. I was told same thing w/NSAIDs. I was told that the bc and nsaids was due to bleeding/blood clot issues.
  3. HI. When you all say 'I can eat anything', does that include solids? I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and still try to stick to purree. I've had bad experiences (like vomiting) when trying to eat 'normal' foods. I'm going thru alot of stress at home (like a husband that won't separate after a separation) so that is really taking its toll.....
  4. I haven't but just do what your body will let you, don't push it! I'm supposed to be on 'transition foods' now and start solids on Friday. I'm still on mushies and ended up vomiting when I didn't blend up food. I go for first fill on Tuesday and doubt that I'll end up getting filled at all...Granted I'm going thru a rotten divorce, but even still w/all the stress, I thought I should be able to eat more solid foods....
  5. Federal Employee Health Benefits have to cover WLS by Federal Law starting in 2007. They may make you jump thru hoops, but they HAVE to cover it!

    Mushies Stage Recipes

Hi. Had the potatoe soup and the cream cheese w/splenda this weekend....they both ROCKED!!!!!!
  7. I'm almost 6 weeks out and fear eating anyting 'bad'. I've had problems keeping things down that I'm supposed to eat and I don't want to tempt fate on stuff that I'm not, it's not worth it to me....
  8. I had my sleep study 2/14, scheduled for surgery 2/23 and it went off w/o a hitch. I was in ICU after surgery, something about cpap machine not being regulated since timeframe was so short. Gave back cpap, couldn't afford copay and I'm still here!
  9. Try IRS Publication 502.....

    1st fill misery

Helen, well I may NOT be getting my first fill on 4/10 as scheduled after reading your post.....I'm 5 weeks post op and am the PB & vomit queen. I actually made my self throw up (which didn't take too much effort) 3 times in the last 2 weeks because I did something wrong and that was the only way to get immediate relief from what felt like spikes in my chest. I may do the baby silverware thing, I have some from my toddler son. This whole thing isn't as easy as I thought......

    Breads?

I heard that all levened breads are a no no........I ate crackers 2 times and the last time I PB'd because it was stuck.....not worth it anymore to me, anyway.....
  14. I'd do what I did w/mine, she knows what I've went thru w/weight loss, and I told her the truth, I've run out of options, period. My Dr. weighs about 20 pounds, so she'd never fully understand, but that may be used a point too.

    South Park

Yes, I remeber the Ethiopian one, that WAS a classic! What is the name of the nurse character w/the fetus growing from her? My mind drew a blank w/that one....

    eat too much.

Ditto Ashlee....I never thought throwing up would feel so good as when something gets 'stuck', and I'm only 4 weeks out!

    Has anyone NOT PB'd??

Well, I was banded 2/23 and am no longer a pb virgin. A couple pb's over ham and noodles. Actually over the weekend I had to make myself throw up, thought I could eat spaghetti noodles...well, thought wrong. I had the horrible golf ball feeling that would not for the life of me go away for what felt like an eternity, but didn't take much effort. Felt better almost immediately. Needless to say, I'm not starting my 'transitional foods' anytime soon, it's mushies all the way! I actually got done eating tuna salad w/crackers, no problem so far...

    Lost Nothing!!

Well, I was at the point where I'd weigh myself 3 times....A DAY! That was when I was 113 pounds and was 'fat'. Well, add 100 and that's were I was at for my 3 week checkup! Now, I'm trying only to weigh myself at the Dr. office,so hopefully that will work better for me. Good Luck!

    Unsupportive Spouse

Maybe he just wants to keep you heavy because he's insecure. That's kinda what happend w/me. I asked mine for NO help and got none also. Sounds like you need to do what's best for YOU. I guess I'm just being cynical since we're in divorce proceedings (for a different reason, he refuses to work & I'm not supporting him like his mom does his dad). I also am splitting for our son, he'll be 4 and I refuse to let him be like his father. DH told me how fat I was yesterday, I just blew it off, I'm 4 weeks post op and down 18+ pounds. He's about 50 pound overweight himself, beer, junk food, and having couch ass will that to ya. I'm doing this for ME so I can be around for my son as he grows up and so I can make sure I do my best to make him a positive contirbutor to society, unlike his father (my soon to be ex-DH). Good Luck & God Bless!

    Financial Infidelity & Husbands

My lying DH did the opposite, went drinking when he was supposed to be working, needless to say we're in the midst of a divorce. This went on and off for the last 6-7 years and I'm done. I'm sick of the fact that he's constantly lied to me. Oh, I'm also losing my house to forclosure too b/c of him. Cut your losses like I should of a long time ago. Sorry I'm so negative, but I've had it w/being lied to and financially drained by him and all his 'excuses'. We have a four old son and I refuse to let my son think that it's OK not to work, period. Good luck to you!

    Federal Blue Cross/blue Shield

I have also checked and if you insure federal employees (ALL fehb carriers) MUST cover WLS. They each have their own criteria, like they can make you jump thru hoops, but it is federal law that they must cover it! You can google "fehb morbid obesity", that may help. I'd also check your plan brochure on line, check out www.opm.gov. It also helps if your surgeon/facility is on their prefered provider list, like mine was. Don't let them jerk you around, you're entitled to the procedure, go for it! Good Luck!

Loss of a good friend by her choice

Well, I've been the "leaver" I guess you'd call it. I was friends w/a person from 5th grade 'til we were about 34. She'd call my husband a couple times a day and me at work. She also would get the goods on us from each other then start unneeded strife between him and I. I originally let it go in one ear and out the other, but when she sent my husband nude pictures via email that was it. He stopped talking to her as well as I and that was really about it, going on almost 2 years now. She was always telling me to leave him, then telling him to leave me. Even he said 'what do I have to offer her?' Well, DH and I are getting a divorce now (my choice) since I am done supporting him thru all of his 'crisis's', but I still don't need her advice. I think it was a competition thing, but at this point I have bigger fish to fry and realize that best revenge is happiness!
