are you addicted to starbucks frappucinos too? then try this!!!
dotofoz replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:hungry: Yes, another Starbucks freak here. I'm addicted to the java chip ones. I get it w/o whip cream, but it's still horrible for the wallet & waist line. In the past 4 years, the only time I DIDN'T crave them was when I was pregnant 9/02-5/03. Couldn't tell ya why. My craving then was cottage cheese, and LOTS of it! As soon as I had my son, the frap cravings (and pounds) came back! Alass, that's why I'm praying for my ins co to pay for my band! Oh, btw, have you tried the starbucks ice cream! It's wonderful, very evil, but wonderful! OK, who wouldn't they give free water to on 9/11, certainly not the emergency workers or victims..... -
I am in NO way in favor of those kind of "kiddie beauty pagents" whatsoever. I think that is exploiting children, plain and simple. I'm wondering if some of the parents aren't trying to live out a fantasy at their kids expense, physically and emotionally. Just because she was 6 years old and looked like she was 25, doesn't mean she deserved to die, especially like she did. I have to agree w/tired old man and the others on this one, the DNA is the only solution. However, if there was DNA, then what were the results of the tests from the other "suspects"? One would assume that others were tested? I'm not following the story like some on this board, but I think that seems like a logical question?? Yes this moron that confessed is defininely a bonified NUTBALL, and then some, but that can be taken to either extreme of guilt or innocence. As far as background checks go, my husband had to pass a background check to work in a FACTORY here in Ohio! I find it hard to believe that in this day and age someone working in ANY VICINITY of kids doesn't have to have one! As a parent, if that is the case, this country is in worse shape than I thought!

Poodles et al: I feel for the child AND for the family left grieveing. I also am "an eye for an eye" person, except this sicko will die humanely, vice how this child was tortured and the family tortured w/grief AND suspicion on top of that! I heard that the worst loss is that of a child. After becoming a mom 3 years ago, I can understand why. I hope that whoever is convicted of this becomes someone's "sweethart" in the big house!
-
All I can say is that I hope the media/police are proud of the way they emotionally tortured the first suspects (family). Personally, it sickens me!

Have you read the brochure they should have given you?

Secretary by day (LOTS of sitting). Fulltime mom of (VERY active) 3 year old boy by nite!

Have you tried carrob chocolate? I haven't had it in years, but I remember it was quit good!
-
I have ANTHEM BC/BS FEP Ohio, had to pay $250 upfront (to participating providor) and won't get back $90 ("report writing fee") and $10 copay even after they said all was covered. "Report writing fee", what a scam! They know you know you need it, so guess they'll charge it!

Ralheit: What was your experience w/SVCH bariatric center? Ben-Meir is my Dr. too, well, when my ins. package gets together and (hopefully)approved. At what point did you get your nutritional eval? I've been inquiring about it w/the staff and no one returns calls/email on it? 95% of my other stuff/tests are done....Pls. advise...

I tend to think you should just go "cold turkey". If he didn't want you then, then why now (especially after you're looking good....hmmm sounds suspicious to me). I guess I've just been burned too many times myself and hate to see someone else get burned also. I agree, it seems he's using you 'til something else comes along. His loss! Ditto, what goes around comes around! After many years of therapy, I learned the hard way that the best revenge is happiness!!!!!

Military hospitals that perform lap band
dotofoz replied to DaDrillSgtsWife's topic in Insurance & Financing
Did you try http://obesityhelp.com? I THINK there was something in there about that in the insurance section where patients write in and let you know what was covered and where...I'd go to that site and try a search. Oh btw, Walter Reed IS scheduled to close in the last BRAC round...They were fighting it, but not sure how successful they'll be. WRAMC was one one of the BEST places for treatment I went when ex-DH was in USAF in early 90's. -
:bandit Wantalalpband: Well, let me know how the visit goes, I wish you the BEST! I don't think these ins. cos. realize the mental torture they're putting us thru while we have to play their games! Oh btw, is your anthem fep? Mine is.

What will you do with your underwear??
dotofoz replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
GEEZZZ, providing I ever GET banded, I'd probably make tents! God knows there'd be MORE than enough material! Also, what's up with Victoria Secret bras? Is it me, or do they run small for their size. Even many, many, many pounds ago when I looked "good", they seemed tight! -
Covermeg, the reason for the mmpi made NO sense to me. I don't know how all those goofy off the wall questions can predict if I will be successful w/WLS. My personal favorite was, "I like seeing small animals suffer." PLease! I'd love to know what that has to do w/WLS success! Oh, and btw, I DON'T like to see small animals suffer. Seriously now, I would like to know how questions like that CAN predict success....OK, some of them may be valid to weed out multi personallity disoder and stuff, but beyond that I honestly don't understand. Technically you CAN be a sicko and still do ok w/wls...Any professional opinions? I know some of the questions tried to trip you up w/repetition and being asked in different ways, but what's the REAL reason? Is it an insurance thing?
-
Y E S!!!!!!! I have NO idea how a 45 minute "interview" and 540 question test with questions that are soooooo off the wall, will predict if I will succeed at the band. Spare me! I told the folks at the bariatric center that I'd really be in bad shape if I DIDN'T get banded...

What was your general doctor's role???
dotofoz replied to Veggestyle's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
:faint: Hi. My PCP reluctantly said she'd write a letter if need be, but isn't too thrilled. I tried to explain that I'm running out of options here. I like her alot, she's only a few years older than me, has 2 young kids, and she weighs probably 90 pounds, like she'd understand what kinda uphill battle I'm going thru! -
Ins. Covered LBT'ers: approx. how long from seminar date to acutal surgery
dotofoz posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just wondering on the AVERAGE, how long from when you went to the seminar to actually receiving The Band? I didn't realize it would take so long, I've heard rumors of 6mos - year......Anyone else heard that? -
Paula: The Cleveland Clinic has (or at least HAD) what's called the "MDIOP" Mood Disorders Intensive Outpatient Program. I was in it in 1999-ish when I was going thru some really messy legal stuff (I was the plaintiff). If I remember correctly, it was like 3x's a week for 4 weeks (2+hrs each day). Most if it was a group thing and there were folks w/all kinds of issues in there, including anger. I was lucky enough to have most if it covered by insurance. To be honest w/you, it just about saved me from hospitalization again, over the same issue and I am still quite good friends w/one of the women I met in there...we kinda lean on eachother on an as needed basis....

Wantlapband: You're lucky they only wanted a letter (from your Dr.) and not a 545 T/F question MMPI-2 and interview! That's what was required of my BC/BS (FEP, BLUE HMO OH)After that, then they required a "report" from the administering Dr. Mine sounded similar to Libra's, however she stated that I was OK, but needed my meds managed B4 & after surgery. Well, my new shrink (in our 2 meetings) said how wonderful I'd do w/the surgery. Well I get letter that she (actual shrink) said I shouldn't have surgery and she doesn't see bariatric patients! Come on lady make up your mind! IF you don't see bariatric patients, how can you draw an educated conclusion that someone shouldn't have the surgery? Now, I finally got referred to a Dr. that DOES see bariatric pt's and of course can't get into see him 'til 9/11 (great date, I know). I think this all is a lesson in perserverance if nothing else! And my goal was to be banded by end of October, '06? In my dreams!

Hi. Well, I'm not a psychologist, but I tend to agree with the folks that say that there must have been underlying problems. That very issue was touched upon at the lap band seminar I went to (which DH attended w/me). Thier basic premise was that WLS folks have a new sense of self confidence and that they "don't have to put up with whats been going on now." DH told me that "once you lose all this weight, you're not going to leave me, are you?" My come back was "behave and don't give me a reason!" We've been on very shaky ground lately anyway. I'm not doing this for him, or to "find someone else", but for my son so I will see him grow into successful adult. I'm in the process of getting all my testing done so I can submit to insurance, but with the divorce rates out there now, who knows. Sometimes enough is enough. Personall I would do what you think is best for YOU. I found out the hard way that's what it's about. Good luck!
-
Hi. I would ask his doctor if he/she knows of an OUTPATIENT mood disorders program. I would think a major hospital in the area would be the place to check if the doc isn't sure...I personally think once he gets rolling, you should participate in a session or two also so you'll know what he's working on. I wish you loads of luck, I know it isn't easy at all!

Hi. I just rec'd eob form from insurance (who previously stated ALL testing was covered, including psych evals). They covered all BUT the "medical reporting of psych eval" (using CPT code 90889). Anyone know of another code they could use to get past insurance? I want to try this route before I dispute the non paid charge. If so, PLEASE let me know, $90 I don't have is riding on this! Thanks in advance! :faint: :help:

Hi. I'm still in the very early process of my testing/insurance approval, but am having TERRIBLE heel pain (especially in the AM). Anyone recommend any certain type of heel wrap or anything? I KNOW it's the added weight, but not what sure to do in the interim.... :help: :sick
