My surgery was April 27th (no fill during surgery). 1st fill was June 2nd for 4cc in a 11 cc band. -
WHY?! Can't that hair fall out on our legs, underarms, bikini line or UPPER LIP? Yeah...just don't understand it. I'm down 1.5lbs or maybe just 0.5. It's been the same so long I can't remember

April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?
shellynnrn replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Weight: I'm down 31 pounds or so (8 of that pre-band) from surgery day on April 27th. I lost a lot in the first two weeks post-op and stalled. Then lost 3-5 more after my first fill and now another stall. Fills: 1 fill on June 2nd. 4cc in an 11cc band. It felt really weird and I could barely get liquids down for two days after. Restriction: Now I have restriction, I can fit about a cup of food down or less. I'm rarely hungry. Rules: My doc told me lean Protein and veggies. I was doing great up until the first fill. Not being able to get much in there makes me more of a mad snacker. Tiny portions of food here and there. Like 15 cheezits for dinner. Hey, it's what looked good at the time. Why am I not loosing weight when I'm eating like a bird? I'm sure it's because my body is in starvation mode. So I'm about to get back on the salads again- I was doing great with those. Anything else: I was exercising regularly on my treadmill prior to the fill. The fill and no eating for two days after made me so weak all I did was sleep when I had the chance. Then I started feeling more energy and work, kids, life got in the way and I burned myself out and now have had a miserable summer cold for 4 days. I'm burned out, wiped out and wish I had the energy or desire to exercise. I know that is all I need to jump start another 5lbs off. I'm just too tired to care! I hope to be feeling better by Monday and get back on the treadmill and throw in some pilates. (and have a better attitude!) I am getting my Water in tho, which is a plus for me! -
I'm a little late in posting here, but here goes. My highest weight before surgery was 277lbs. Surgery day 269. Friday's weight 249. Glad for the fill last week, I was sitting at 251 for a while!

HOW FUNNY!!!! I love it!!

I got my first fill yesterday. It didn't hurt at all! The worst part was waiting to be seen. My band was empty and she put in 4cc. Sounds like a lot considering what I've been reading but today feels fine. I am on liquids until tomorrow and feel better today. Yesterday I was wiped out, probably because I only had half a protein shake and water. Today I was able to get in soups and a protein shake. Lost another 2lbs, I'm so excited! Next fill is scheduled for July 2nd.

I just got my first fill today and had no idea where my port was until then. Mine is one inch above my belly button and two inches to the left. It's not in the way of pants or bras. Let's hope it stays put!

OK! I ate a chocolate chip cookie last night. :frown: After not having anything sweet for so long- it really didn't taste that great. It certainly didn't feel as good as it does when you get on the scale and see a NEW, lower number. My reward to myself for confessing to you all is an extra 5 minutes on the treadmill today.

My first fill is scheduled for June 2nd. I've only been eating about 500-650 calories a day. I was supposed to be on liquids and mushies until May 25 per my pre-op paperwork. After my 1 week f/u they said I can eat anything as long as it's completely chewed up and soft. So, I've been on solids, but I'm scared really to eat too much and have been very careful. I have really enjoyed Subway's tuna salad! I haven't felt really full but maybe once. I can't wait for a fill to maybe let me eat more and actually feel full and know when to stop.

Ohh dear.... I had my f/u on Monday and he took off my steri strips because it was really red and itchy around the edges. We found thousands of tiny and not so tiny blisters under there! It's so GROSS! Not to mention that it itches like hell. I was up in the middle of the night taking benadryl fearful that I would itch in my sleep and open them up to infection. I only have 2 incisions, one is about 1/4 inch long and the other is 2 inches long. It's the big one that is blistered over such a large area. I'd post a picture but I'd hate for anyone to lose their appetite (unless you need help with hunger, then I'd be happy to oblige ) I've always been sensitive to tape, but this is ridiculous!! Anyone else have this? I googled it and on a hysterectomy forum a woman's OB told her to put liquid Maalox on it (not on the incision tho) and it dried them up in 3 days....weird. I'm just using good old neosporin. Would love everyone's take on this horror. Ugh.

Good luck to you! I can't imagine two surgeries! I hope you heal up quickly:thumbup:

The quickest 6 days of my life have just flown by, where did they go? Monday will be a week since my surgery and back to work. I had an uneventful case. I know this because my friend was my CRNA that put me to sleep. I was in there an hour, received two incisions closed with steri strips and now I'm the proud owner of an 11cc Realize band. Woohoo! I stayed overnight in the hospital per my Doc's instructions. Barium swallow the next day before discharge. It was cool to see my band and stomach on the screen. No real pain that I needed to medicate. Tender, bloated, trouble getting up and down but that is really all. Day 3 I took the Lortab elixir and felt on top of the world. Now it's just a cramp in my left side and some referred shoulder pain. My post op instructions are liquid diet for two weeks and then pureed for two weeks. No real food until May 25th. My first f/u appt. is Tuesday and hopefully I'll find out about the first fill, etc. 18lbs down so far (8 of that the week before surgery) Let's hope it stays off in bandster hell.

As crazy and as weird as the Maalox remedy sounds...I've applied it once today and the smaller blisters are already gone! There are a bunch of big ones left so I reapplied. We'll see what happens, I'll keep you posted as I use myself as a medical research guinea pig!

Hey everyone, Has anyone seen the reality show on WE tv called "I want to save your life"? I think there have only been 3 people aired so far and I happened to catch them all tonight. It's really inspirational and has helpful tips. Check it out on food and recipes, Health, singles - WEtv.com I can't wait to start exercising now after watching this. Someone remind me that I said that in a couple weeks

Already Noticing Hormone Changes!!! YEAH!
shellynnrn replied to ladybugchaser's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Sweetbean, you made me tear up. It took me over 10 years to convince a doctor there was something wrong with my hormones, and I'm a NURSE! Get this book, it will help you explain and show to your doctor. It's a hard diagnosis to come by, but I think the medical community is getting better informed. The book is called "It's My Ovaries, Stupid". Such a fitting title You aren't alone! We are all suffering with the PCOS monster together. Re: the laser hair removal. Get your hormones regulated before you do it. I spent $$$ and it all grew back with a vengeance! Hopefully the weight loss will make it naturally lighten and subside. -
My aunt visited me 4 days post op...fun fun! As far as bending over, I still can't. GL with your band!!
