No haircut in mind, but I'm open to suggestions. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Laptastic replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Went to Dr. K today and didn't get a fill again. Since starting water aerobics two weeks ago, I've lost seven pounds. I've hit a 40 pound weight loss. Ten more and I can consider getting a haircut. (I told myself I couldn't cut it until I lost 50 pounds.) -

I'm so sorry you had to go through that experience. If I'm ever in Albany, I'll hunt down the rude fat guy and kick his ass for you. -

I'm going to water aerobics at 24hour fitness at Arapahoe and Parker tomorrow at 9:30. You can join me if you'd like. You can get a one month trial membership for free. I've been doing the water aerobics classes for two weeks and have lost five pounds. Call me if you want to meet there. -

Lapband Friendly Restaurants

The card is in with all the information about the surgery. My doctor gave me that one because it is part of the packet that the device manufacturer produces, and he also gave me one of his business cards that on the reverse, explained that it would be helpful to accommodate my special dietary needs. -

local surgeon vs. traveling...

Clearly, I'm biased. I go to Kirshenbaum but luckily only live about 10 minutes from his office. Not only is his surgery price great, but then fills are only $15 after the first three months. I've actually never heard anything negative about him. Good luck with your decision, whichever way you go. -
Favorite Meal Post Op?
Laptastic replied to MissChristina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been on a serious salmon kick. I'll have salmon and spinach or broccoli for lunch and dinner every time I have the opportunity. Another favorite for lunch is a pita filled with a chopped salad of romaine, raw cabbage, cajun turkey, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, and a splash of fat free italian dressing. -

Julie, with more and more women having kids at a later age, I'm surprised someone would say something like that. Don't bust out the shawl just yet. Maybe in about thirty years. -

Hey all you Colorado chicks...are we getting together at Red Robin any time soon? -
Hey Patty. It was great meeting you too. I hope to see you out here again soon. The water aerobics class is fun. It's nice to change up the workout.

No change for me this week. -
Glouc, when I say he did good things, I am not referring to his music or his dancing. Of course that was good. I'm talking about his philanthropy. He is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being significantly involved in more charities than any other public figure. He also co-wrote We Are The World, which raised huge money for people in Africa. Regarding his settling out of court implying that he was guilty...I settled out of court with the IRS two weeks ago. Not because I was guilty of cheating on my taxes, but because I was tired of the three year harrassment and legal fees. Settling out of court often means that you're sick of constantly defending yourself. I understand that you don't care. It's in your title. I'm not trying to convince you to care. I am stating why I care. Why are you trying to convince me not to?

Yes, Michael was a weirdo. Child molester? I don't know. But I do know that he was a hell of a performer who did a lot of good during his lifetime. I'm sad he's gone, just like I was sad when Princess Di was killed. Not because I was personally close to either of them, but because I respected them both for the great things they did while they were alive. His behavior with his kids - covering their faces (understandable considering his fame and the risk of kidnap) and the famous balcony incident - I know parents who do far more unusual and harmful things to their kids, but there are not cameras around to capture those moments. Anyway, yes, Michael was a weirdo, but I have to respect him as a philanthropist and a damn good performer!

Just tried water aerobics for the first time. Difficult when you have so much body fat that your butt wants to float all the time. I don't know if I'll be able to lift my arms tomorrow. -

Kind of a similar situation here...banded on 3/19, self pay because my insurance wouldn't cover it. Then, the school district I work for changed insurance carriers. I just keep telling myself that at least it's done and I'm not waiting for approval, or have to do a long pre-surgery diet.
-
Congratulations! I was self-pay too. My issue is that since I paid $10,000 for this, I feel like I owe it to my husband to be successful with the band. I guess that could be incentive, but it is a nagging in the back of my mind...nothing that my hubby has said or implied though. Good luck throughout this process.

How long from your first Dr. visit to surgery day?
Laptastic replied to prowinewoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Four weeks. Self pay. -
Here's my issue with this...How does the OP know it was racism? She's blind, so is she making judgements of her own? How does she know the "offenders" were not also black? There is no way of her knowing, unless she asked them what race they were. To me, the examples given are just rudeness at most. To assume they were racially motivated is in itself racist.

That's awesome Julie. I'm glad it wasn't anything major. Good luck on the insurance coverage.
