Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?
Tired_Old_Man replied to paladin's topic in Rants & Raves
Then when are the believers in Jesus going to take back their church from the politicians masking themselves as "men of God". If Christians realized the dirty politics needed to rise to Jerry Falwell's or Pat Robertson's or James Dobson's positions, they would know that no one who has risen that high is truly a man in Christ's mold. They will tell you that it was God's wish that they moved to the top, but it was back-stabbing and treachery that made them what they are today, leaders who speak for their flock and just like real shepherds, they intend to lead their flock to slaughter. -
But it is the Christians who, though they are the ones complaining in the thread opening article, refuse to vote for someone unless they meet their religious standards. They sometimes hide behind the word "character" but they mean religious standards. That's is why the part about book about Romney is a "red Herron". Liberals don't care about that issue and I doubt would read that book. It is the conservatives who read it and then complain about its implications.

Paying Drug Abusers to be Sterilized
Tired_Old_Man replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Rants & Raves
This issue is very hard to debate because there are many special rules for humanity that are easily forgotten, and that are easily left out of the logic. I am a Christian, but I know that contrary to what some (or most) Christians think, that human beings are part of the animal species. However, because of their superior brains and their special consciousness, the human animal is given special privileges (though we call them rights). Though humans have this higher intelligence, it has been agreed upon as the human race has become more civilized that humans must still be protected from themselves and that certain rule of conduct are generally accepted. We do not allow humans to be slaves, even indentured slaves, nor do we allow them to sell off their body parts. As a theist, I know that humans are animals, though others of my religion say that they are not animals, but God made creatures in his mold. I resist the dogma of my religion, but atheists can easily fall into the trap of religious dogma, by replacing the standard deities with the deity of money. Just like the 911 pilots thought that the killings of thousands of Americans were ok, because they were doing it for their God, many atheists and capitalists think that selling body parts, slavery and selling reproductive rights are ok as long as it is done in the name of God, their God; MONEY. No! Money does not make things right. No more that strong people pushing weak people around when you line up for the movies, rich people have no rights to buy life from poor people. When a Mike Tyson type character says to me a 61 year old man, “get out of my way or I will kill you”, he is no worse than when a Bill Gates says “get out of my way or I will pay someone to kill you”. The use of money does not make it any less a form of bullying or abuse. Paying the poor, whether because it is their fault that they are poor and no matter why they are poor, is wrong when you take away their humanity or their special privileges we have bestowed on all humans and that we call human rights. It is generally accepted (except by organizations like PITA) that we do not have to pay a horse for it to pull a wagon and most civilizations believe that other animals can be used for food or other human needs, but we have degreed that humans are special. The Christian/Judeao/Muslim religions have all agreed as have most non-traditional groups. It is only the one religion of the money worshipers who think that taking away the human rights of human beings is ok if done under the name of their God; MONEY. -

I would agree with that or that Norform under the skin implant. BTW: I think I made a mistake before and I thought you were defending permanent sterilization rather than IUD's. -
Paying Drug Abusers to be Sterilized

Only Tina has permission to yank my chain and she will inspect it when she gets back from Brooklyn. The big hole in the US blood supply is the blood coming in from the drug neighborhoods. A guy told me, “those addicts will do anything for money” and I replied “and those blood banks will do anything for a profit”. When blood bank vampires know that the guy is a druggie and he is using different names to beat the system, they give the blood seller less than the normal amount of money and pocket the difference. That way, everyone makes out accept the people who need blood. Capitalism at work. -

I watched South Park the other night and they were given Kenny money to eat things. Being dirt poor he ate anything. He was being belittled. The people who run this program are so full of their own self-worth that they belittle the weakest among us while claiming to be helping the babies. Help people into drug programs. Don't sterilize them. I wonder how many of the people posting here have ever lived in a drug infested neighborhood. I lived for a brief while on the block with the highest murder rate in the whole country, and it was 99% drug related. Yes, drugs are a scourge on our communities, but this attempt at eugenics (under a guise of a humanitarian effort) is just another attempt at showing superiority. We need to do something about the problems that brings drugs into the lives of our youth. It is hopelessness and pain that causes most addiction in the poor neighborhoods. It the middle-class neighborhood, it is the materialism of the parents who are keeping up with the Jones working two jobs, but never showing true love to their children because there is not enough time, that causes addiction. You do not help people my mutilating their bodies and then going home and patting yourself on the back saying I saved a baby today. That is not much different from blowing up a “Planned Parenthood Center” and then going home and patting yourself on the back saying I saved a baby today. -

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?
Tired_Old_Man replied to paladin's topic in Rants & Raves
We talked about this after church today. I said to my minister that when I was a child, I went to my grandparent's Pentecostal church quite often and they were the among the first to welcome minorities and to help the poor. Today's Christian leadership is pro-war, pro-death penalty, pro-big business, pro-government. That is not the Pentecostal church that I was raised in. -

And castrating Black men would also lower the crime rate. In fact, castrating every man in the country would lower the crime rate. -
Why Liberals are Right to Hate the Ten Commandments
Tired_Old_Man replied to leatha_g's topic in Rants & Raves
When God comes down from Heaven and says, "I want these words in every school and courthouse" then that will be fine. But when the US government says it or the government of the state of Florida says it, that is a different story. I trust God. I do not trust either the US government or the government of the state of Florida or the government of any other state. After 5 years when the US government or the government of any state says, "We are going to change a couple of words here and there in these commandments. We put them up, so we can change them." Then what do you do? That is why I and many ministers and Bishops do not want the 10 Commandments or any other religious documents in public schools or courthouses. -
Probably talking about me.:help:

The first one you are correct, but in your statement you had two things and I meant one of them. You said nothing about Mexico vs USA in your original statement. The PCP not treating people below 18 or above 65 might very well be medically related. Under 18's react different to treatment than adults (big study out last week on drugs not being tested on children) and people over 65 are loaded with medical problems. I said might. BUT, when the reason has nothing to do with medicine, like a doctor saying I will not treat you because you are a Republican or an Hispanic or because I don't believe in birth control, even though I work for a firm that does believe in birth control and stocks birth control pills, then that is over the line.

Most of the other advanced industrialized countries disagree with that notion regarding medical care. It is a macho USA phenomena. -

Of course it is a race issue. Who do you think the predominantly poor drug users are? The white drug users on Wall Street don't need $300, nor do the Movie Stars. It will not be only minorities, but it will be disproportionately minorities as compared to the actual ratio of white to minority addicts. -
In the case of the book about Romney, I will go along with your argument (except no one I know, ever heard of the book), and I will say it is wrong to hold a man's religion against him which I already said in a previous post in this thread. In the case of the General. no one was being bigoted against him, but people complained that they did not want to hear his bigotry. Even he admitted, that he should not have said it as a General. Have you ever heard the expression, "You salute the uniform, not the man wearing it"? By saying what he said as a United States General, it is like saying that the United States says whatever he said. He was speaking for himself (and admitted it later), but when he said it as General Pace, it became a matter of government policy, which it is not and he has no right to make. And this is not your thread. It is a thread on LBT.

Why Liberals are Right to Hate the Ten Commandments
Tired_Old_Man replied to leatha_g's topic in Rants & Raves
There is nothing wrong with the 10 commandments if you believe that you want to control your life with them. But no one has a right to impose the 10 commandments on anyone else. Putting them in schools and courthouses would impose the religious beliefs of some people on other people. Only 2 of the 10 commandments are laws in most states. And that is only because they effect someone other than the person violating the commandment.
