Until I was able to swallow solid vitamins, I used children's chewables and chewable "C". I drank milk with the vitamins to control acidity.

Cleveland Clinic Anyone?
Tired_Old_Man replied to Sleeved and Relieved's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in Brooklyn four years ago, but moved to Florida 3 years ago. I have been going to the Cleveland Clinic in Weston for my post-op care since January of 2004. The doctors there seem competent, though I thought the doctors in Brooklyn were better. The facility is nice. The reason that I think that Lap-Band is not being recommended for you is that it is not the best tool of the tools available. I have not done any research lately, but when researching before my Lap-Band surgery, I read that the average bypass weight-loss is 85% of the weight required to get from original weight to chart weight based on age, height and bone structure, while the average long-term weight-loss for Lap-Band patients is just 25% of the weight required to get from original weight to chart weight. I don't know your numbers, but let's talk about a hypothetical person who is 350 at 5'6". Lets say her chart weight should be 140. Bypass average final and long term weight would be 172. Lap-Band average final and long term weight would be 297. 297 would still leave that person at risk for many medical conditions. I know I am going to get chewed out for this seemingly negative post, but those were the numbers 4.5 years ago when I researched my Lap-Band. If anyone has more recent research numbers, not anecdotal numbers, please feel free to post them and refute my old (and I hope outdated) info. -
Eat ice chips. I did that for 3 or 4 days before I even tryed Jello. Keep busy. Idle minds are the eater's tools.

TAILGATING An honest man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection The tailgating woman hit the roof and the horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do?' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car." -
Peace!! I guess I will give people a little laugh to go with their Peace, Faith and Love.

Investigators probe why jet used wrong runway The reason IMHO why the plane crashed is that airports have terrible markings for the runways and taxi-ways. Mechanics at the airline that I worked for had to taxi planes from the hanger to the terminals or to the cargo area. Taxi means drive on the ground. I rode in the cockpit dozens of times, many times (riding brakes) in the co-pilot's seat before ever being allowed to taxi a plane. I also taxied the simulator many times before taxiing a real plane. The markings at JFK and EWR (Newark) were horrendous. I also rode in the cockpit at Logan (Boston), Dulles (DC) and Philadelphia International. They are all bad. I was almost killed when a plane landed on the same runway as the plane I was riding in was applying power for takeoff. None of the paying passengers knew about it, because they can only see out of the sides, while the cockpit gives 180 degree visibility. The poor ground markings, poor lighting and flippant ground controllers are the airline industry's dirty little secret.

I hope they were busy kissing and never saw it coming. It this case, Quick is better.

Thank You!!

The most dangerous part of your trip will be the drive to the airport. More people die while taking showers than in Commercial airliner crashes. More people died in the 7 days ending on and including 911 in car crashes than in plane crashes. Think about that fact.

They are trying to put some of the blame for the crash on the fact that the runway had just been repaved. The runway being repaved is one thing. It takes quite a few more than one thing to crash a plane. Why did neither pilot notice the wrong compass reading for the runway? Runways are named by the compass heading. Runway 22 is at 220 degrees no matter what airport it is at. Runway 26 is at 260 degrees no matter what airport it is at. If the tower says "you are cleared for take-off on runway 22", and you go on to what you think is runway 22, but your compass read 260, you had better ask yourself or the other pilot, "what is wrong with our compasses or are we on the right runway?" When the tower said, "you are cleared for take-off on runway 22", that was not the end of his responsibility. He should have called the plane and said, "whoa there guys, you are on the wrong runway". Even after they repave a runway, the marker lights should all be replaced and retested before they allow use of the runway.

A pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. He was so pleased that he entered the donkey in another race, and it won again. The next day, the local newspaper headline read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT IN FRONT This upset the bishop, so he ordered the pastor not to race the donkey again. Next day, the headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES THE PASTOR'S ASS This really upset the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun. The newspaper posted the headline: NUN HAS THE BEST ASS IN TOWN The bishop fainted. He told the nun to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it for $10. Next day, the headline read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10 This was too much for the bishop, so he told the nun to buy back the donkey and let it run wild and free. The paper ran the headline: NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE The bishop was buried the next day. Moral: Being concerned about public opinion can bring you grief and misery, and even shorten your life. So be yourself and enjoy life. Stop worrying about other people's asses and you'll live longer. -

All Catholics are sinners. All Christians are sinners. All members of every Jewish denomination is a sinner. Every Bishop, every minister, every Rabbi, every Ayatollah, every atheist, every agnostic, every priest, every cardinal and even the Pope are all sinners. Some may not call themselves sinners, because they don't believe in the concept of sin. The people of all the Christian faiths believe that only Jesus Christ was without sin. All churches, all religious organizations are made up of sinners. If you prefer the terms imperfect or flawed or people that make mistakes or people that do the wrong things, it all boils down to the same thing. A story about a member of a group, be it a church, religious group or nation, does not have to be taken as an attack on the whole church, religious group or nation. There have been Catholic priests in the news for the past few years for molesting children. There have been stories about the church protecting the priests. That is not an attack on the priesthood or the Catholic church. It is a story about some people who did bad things and who were priests and Bishops or Cardinals. People who worked for the post office have been in the news for shooting up their work-place. Those stories are not an attack on the post office. They are stories about some postal workers who did bad things. Complaining about the president is not an attack on the United States. It is an opinion of someone that the president did a bad thing. The president is also a sinner. The last president was a sinner and the next president will be a sinner, no matter which party he (or she) comes from. Every time (or anytime) a member disagrees with another member's post does not require personal retaliation. It is one member's opinion that another member's opinion is wrong. The member should be saying that the other member is wrong, not bad, not stupid, not mean, but wrong. For the life of me, I can't understand why people have to take everything personal. If someone says something negative about the way someone of your religion did something, please do not take it as an attack on your religion or your god. If your god really is God, he can take care of himself. I doubt, though I may be wrong, that God is smiling when he hears about his children killing each other to prove who loves him the most and who is most worthy of his love. -

Isn't it amazing when people can discuss issues without fear? That is the American way or at least should be American way. I fear, though, if enough people (like the senatorial candidate that I quoted) take over, there will be a stifling of free speech such as what happened in countries like Iran where God is used as an excuse for limiting debate and Nazi Germany were God was used as an excuse for limiting debate, and in the countries where God is suppressed like China or North Korea. The US constitution put both freedom of speech and freedom of religion in the same amendment; its first amendment. How odd is it that those two thoughts should be at such odds with each other? -

My definition: A government run by religious law or leaders who makes laws to reflect their religion's beliefs or their opinions of the religion's values. By the dictionary: 1. a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler, the God's or deity's laws being interpreted by the ecclesiastical authorities. 2. a system of government by priests claiming a divine commission. 3. a commonwealth or state under such a form or system of government. 4. A government ruled by or subject to religious authority. -

The Real Danger of Ernesto is that anyone who did the hurricane preperation for Ernesto will be angry about all the unnecessary work and grief they went through and next time will say, "Yeah, right. I am tired of these people. They don't know what they are talking about" and then they will not bother preparing.

I agree with the vast majority of what you say, however in this country their are people running for office who want things exactly opposite of that: So according to this Senatorial candidate, she knows what God wants and God (and Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin) wants religious law to govern us. I don't know about you, but people who get PM's from God scare me as do people who get PM's from the dead (even founding fathers). Allowing people like this to take over our country will only result in a government similar in function to the Taliban's Afghanistan. Osama Bin Laden may have already defeated us. If the USA gives up its freedoms to become a theocracy, then Al-Quaida has won. Why does the US refuse to allow Iraq to be a theocracy while moving its own government toward theocracy? Why does the US condemn Iran for being a theocracy while moving its own government toward theocracy? -
How to come home drunk and still get a hot Breakfast... Jack woke up with a huge hangover the night after a business function. He forced himself to open his eyes and the first thing he saw was a couple of aspirins next to a glass of Water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose! Jack sat up in bed and saw his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. Jack looked around the room and saw that it was in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So was the rest of the house. He took the aspirins, cringed when he saw a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror and noticed a note on the table: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping - Love you!!" He stumbled to the kitchen and sure enough, there was hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son was also at the table, eating. Jack asked, "Son..what happened last night?" "Well, you came home after 3 am, drunk and out of your mind. You broke the coffee table, puked in the hallway and got that black eye when you ran into the door." So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?" His son replied, "Oh, THAT!...Mom dragged you to the bedroom and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, bitch, I'm married!!!" Broken table - $200 Hot breakfast - $5 Red Rose bud - $3 Two aspirins - $0.25 Saying the right thing, at the right time... PRICELESS
