Walking is great exercise. Contrary to popular opinion: You can not target fat on your body. It does not matter which muslces you exercise as far a weight loss and fat reduction is concerned. Have you ever noticed that the Olympic track stars have toned arms? No flab! Walking with a friend is better than walking alone.

I do not believe that Jesus ever mention homosexuality in the New Testament. Jesus spent more time with prostitutes, the poor and lepers than he did with the rich and powerful, so I wonder who's side Jesus would be on in this debate. I wonder if Jesus would be a Republican or a Democrat. Rumor: If Jesus returned to Earth in the 21st Century, He would be a member of the NRA, and Drive a Hummer, as soon as He returned from his second tour as a Master Sargent in Iraq.

I have teased you a bit in this thread. I am a Christian, but I don't believe that either the Bible or the Qur'an are word for word true. I take them as stories with morals or meanings on how to live a proper life. You have use the term "Bible instructed by God" quite a few times in this thread. Can you explain what "Bible instructed by God" means? I am really curious about it. I did a google on "Bible instructed by God" and it returned nothing.

Years ago a judge in NY State ruled that as long as males can walk around without covering their tops, so can females. I do not know if that ruling was ever over-turned, but it seems to me that if it was it would be gender-discrimination.

OK Girls, so wearing old underware is a boy-thing or man-thing. Besides, as far as that old mother's tale about having clean underware in case of an accident: My underware was cut off me to avoid having to remove the splint on my leg after I had one accident. After another accident, my underware was soaked in my blood and my brother-in-law's blood, so no one noticed any stains (if there were any). And in a friend's accident, his underware was soaked in red stuff and brown stuff. I will let you gals figure out what the stuff was. I read that figure a year or so ago in a magazine at my son's house. He is really into the hip-hop culture and buys magazines dedicated to that life-style. As far as pants sagging, I personally do not like it, but I am against any law that regulates clothing styles. I do not see laws against sagging pants as actually racist, but it may be true that the misconceptions of many who are behind passing those laws might be racist. However, in Boston, if the vast majority of people with sagging pants are Black as you claim, it doesn't mean that it is the same for all parts of the country. I have seen whites here in Florida as well as Blacks with sagging pants, though down here, it is much less prevalent among males of either race. Women wear their pants pretty low around here and many wear bikini tops in the street, which gets the ire of some people also. I do not complain about that, except when my wife catches me taking a second look. :faint:

I hope those tapes are a word for word reading of the Bible. I say that because last week, I was in a waiting room while my truck was having a GM call-back done, and I found up a copy of a Bible for children. I had heard of them, but I expected a translation of the bible from the words commonly used in the bible to modern English at a grammar school level so that a child could understand it. Instead, it was a total distortion of the bible. While many may have had no qualms about what was written in this book, many others might feel that the author put too much of himself and not enough of the bible into this children's bible.

The reason I have been debating with you is that you keep writing about the New Testament supplanting the Old Testament, but then keep pushing for the 10 Commandments (which would be in the Old Testament if they were in either Exodus or Deuteronomy). My Bible, BTW, has both the Old and New Testaments in it. But the Old Testament in my Bible is not the same as my Jewish friend's Old Testament. Many political decisions were made into what was going into the Bible and what didn't. And God didn't make those decisions.

Anyway, getting back to the original point of the thread. It is great that the New Jersey Supreme Court has ruled that the constitution does not allow discrimination based on gender. HOWEVER: This ruling coming at this time, less than two weeks before the elections, may cause the people who think that it is more important to stop gays from getting married than to stop all our other American values from going down the tube, may come out and secure the congress for 2 more years of Republican rule. If enough come out, there may be a constitutional amendment passed against gay marriage/unions. I should not have said you were wrong, but your point was incorrect IMHO. You could try being more explicit, because 85% of the rap and hip hop recordings are bought by whites. Also, while young West Indians wear their pants high, they do not listen to raggae. They listen to Soca and Rap. Any way you write it, there still are more than 10 verses, which means that it is left to an interpretor to decide where each commandment would start and stop if there were 10. Face it. The people of that era needed something; like the number of fingers on their hands, in order to keep tract of the rules.

And the reason that Black and white are the two races people think about when race is mentioned, is that those are the two prominent races in the USA. The US Census Bureau might try to pretend that Hispanic is a race, but it isn't. The ability to speak Spanish is not a racial characteristic.

I've got a better one for you. Our friends of 40 years, husband and wife are avid gun enthusiasts. They even make their own bullets to keep the price of target practice within their budget. The husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's about 10 years ago. He can no longer work and he can seldom ride his Harley. He wants desperately for stem cell research to make a difference in his life, because he is building up a tolerance to his drug regiment. Now the problem. The Senatorial candidate in his state is NRA approved but is one of the most vocal critics of stem cell research. The candidate considers BuSh's stance on stem cell research to be Liberal. Guess who our friends are voting for. :faint:
