I went to college with James McCloskey, the man who started "Centurion Ministries", a group who has gotten dozens of innocent men (who had been convicted of murder and who were on death row awaiting execution) out of jail. "Centurion Ministries" never used technicalities to free the death row inmates, unless you consider "not having committed the murder" a technicality. There have been close to 100 death row inmates who were found to be not guilty. One inmate was on death row for 18 years. In Illinois, a graduate class at Northwestern, interviewed a death row inmate for a class project and decided to investigate his assertion that he was innocent. They eventually tracked down the real murderer who confessed when confronted. No believing their luck that they had picked the only innocent man on death row at that prison by random chance, they interviewed another death row inmate. By the time they were through, 13 of 25 death row inmates were found to be innocent and the students had tracked down all 13 of the murderers (who all confessed when found). You can set a man free when he is serving a sentence of “life with no chance of parole” if he is found innocent at a later date, but you can not free a man from a miscarriage of justice which culminates in his execution and death.

I respect you opinion and in fact I also thought that she was an intelligent classy women when she first came on the scene, but her alibiing for BuSh's screw ups and her failure to act on the CIA Daily Briefing letter of 8-6-2001 (which could have/should have averted 911), her lies about the letter and her failure to act to save the Innocent Lebanese civilians from death and destruction last year have soured me on her. -

I have to agree with you for once, Ms. Mousecrazy. My answers to the questions about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were not just essentially the same; I copied and pasted from one thread to the other: I will vote for the person who has the best chance of changing the direction that the USA is headed. For too many years, only WASP's were USA Presidents. I would vote for Obama or Colin Powell, but not for Condoleezza Rice, though I would vote for Hillary. -

Regrettably, in the 21st Century USA, if you are part Black, you are Black. I can never understand why a person with 3 white grandparents and one Black grandparent is considered Black, except for the "you wanted want your sister to marry him, would you?" problem. -

Did you wonder why she was being questioned so intensively by Republicans? Did you wonder why she was being questioned so intensively by Republicans who had supported the Illogical Illegal Iraqi Invasion up until just recently? As far as "intellectually running circles around those guys": On my TV, she appeared to be avoided the questions and playing word games. Her assertion that the new BuSh strategy is not an escalation of the war but an augmentation was classical wordsmenship used to avoid the reality of the situation.:help: -

On September 12th 2001: 80% of the world said the USA had been wronged 80% of the world was on the side of the USA All our allies were behind us By 2006: a majority of the people poled outside the USA said that George W. BuSh was the biggest deterant to peace in the whole world. Most of our past allies were distancing themselves from US foreign policy. It took a lot to be able to screw things up that much. It took George W. BuSh to screw things up that much. -

I will vote for the person who has the best chance of changing the direction that the USA is headed. For too many years, only WASP's were USA Presidents. I would vote for Obama or Colin Powell, but not for Condoleezza Rice, though I would vote for Hillary. In 2004, people warned me about John Kerry (who would have been only the second Roman Catholic President if elected) and told me that he would ban the Bible and he would protect the Catholic priests who were molested "our" children. In 2000, I was warned that electing a Jew (Joe Lieberman) as vice-president would give Israel too much control over US politics should Al Gore be killed or removed from office. So I doubt whether Barack Obama has a serious chance. The Republicans already have a campaign ad ready in case Obama becomes the Democratic candidate. His middle name is Hussein; Barack Hussein Obama. Do you want Hussein in the White House? -
Please click on the Link in the opening post or this *. The Right is not stopping Global Warming. They are stopping the teaching of Global Warming, its significance, its consequences and the means to possibly stop it. I also am upset that Polar Bears may not exist by 2057, but I am even more upset that Florida, NY City, New Orleans, and about 25% to 50% of the inhabited land mass in the world might be submerged by then or even before 2057.

Jack, do you believe because a country says it is a communist country, that it is a Communist country? If so, then I am a 14 foot tall women with a 99 DDD bra size. Leaders who wanted to take hold of a country through revolution promised the masses income equality (Communism), but said that it would only happen after the revolution was complete. Well, they used the name communism after they threw out the old government, but they never finished the revolution. That is pie in the sky rhetoric. But then again, so is capitalism. No one can work hard enough to justify making millions of dollars a day when a man and wife combined both working full time for Home Depot don't make that much in a lifetime. The CEO who retired from Exxon-Mobil made $500,000,000 per year. That is 1.4 million a day. A husband (sales) and wife (cashier) both working full time at Home Depot would make about 1.4 million in their lives. At Wal-Mart it would be much less. No, I don't expect them to make the same salary. But for a worker to make as much or less in a year as another person makes per day is not good for the moral of the worker. But that is not it. It takes the worker his whole life and a part time job to boot, and he still doesn't make what that other person makes in one day. -

BuSh called Iraq, Iran and North Korea and "Axis of Evil" (proving that he does not know the meaning of the word "Axis") and then bombed and invaded Iraq. What would you do if you were the leader of Iran or North Korea? Get ready for war. What else? Put the shoe on the other foot. If China called Tibet and the USA the countries least worthy of surviving in the world and then invaded Tibet, what would you expect our government to do? Now there is talk about war with Iran. What do you expect North Korea to do? BTW: The US will not mess with Venezuela because Chavez has signed deals with China to co-develope oil fields in South America and Cuba. -

I worry about the idiot in the White House who was warned about possible hijackings of commercial airliners in a CIA briefing on August 6, 2001 and did not have the nerve to tell the airlines and airports to tighten security. If there had been no attack (because the extra security stopped it in its tracks), how would he have faced the angry flying public (who never would have known the security stopped the possible attacks)? BuSh needed 911. -

That would be nice if it were true, but we import as much food as we export, much of our drugs are produced by multinational companies based in Germany and other places, much of our medical equipment (MRI, CT-Scan) is made overseas and just about all our consumer electronics are foreign made even when they have US sounding names like RCA and Emerson. We are 5% of the world's population and use 25% of the world's resources. There is a large gap between giving it all away and having a fair distribution. When some people make more money per day that other hard-working people make in a lifetime, things have gone too far in one direction. You are referring to Communism. Communism has never been tried except for the use of its name. If Communism was in effect in Cuba (for instance), the man who cleans Castro's toilet would receive the same rate of pay as Castro does. Actually, the toilet cleaner would probably receive more money since he would probably be raising a family and have more needs than the "Old Man" Castro. Those governments might not be opposed to us if we stayed out of their business. When country A has a feud with country B and the USA supports country A with weapons and other assistance, can the USA blame country B for not liking the USA? When the only reason that the USA likes A is that both the USA and country A dislike country C, but when country A is a dictatorship, while country B is a democracy, then how hypocritical is it of the USA to claim they want democracy to flourish? -
A good looking man walked into an agent's office in Hollywood and said "I want to be a movie star." Tall, handsome and with experience on Broadway, he had the right credentials. The agent asked, "What's your name?" The guy said, "My name is Penis van Lesbian." The agent said, "Sir, I hate to tell you, but in order to get into Hollywood, you are going to have to change your name." "I will NOT change my name! The van Lesbian name is centuries old, I will not disrespect my grandfather by changing my name. Not ever." The agent said, "Sir, I have worked in Hollywood for years... you will NEVER go far in Hollywood with a name like Penis van Lesbian! I'm telling you, you will HAVE TO change your name or I will not be able to represent you." "So be it! I guess we will not do business together" the guy said and he left the agent's office. FIVE YEARS LATER: The agent opens an envelope sent to his office. Inside the envelope is a letter and a check for $50,000. The agent is awe-struck, who would possibly send him $50,000? He reads the letter enclosed: "Dear Sir, Five years ago, I came into your office wanting to become an actor in Hollywood , you told me I needed to change my name. Determined to make it with my God-given birth name, I refused. You told me I would never make it in Hollywood with a name like Penis van Lesbian. After I left your office, I thought about what you said. I decided you were right. I had to change my name. I had too much pride to return to your office, so I signed with another agent. I would never have made it without changing my name, so the enclosed check is a token of my appreciation. Thank you for your advice. Sincerely, Dick van Dyke

People are more than willing to believe and follow authority figures. And many people do not realize that George W. BuSh is a "Public Servant", NOT KING GEORGE. Oh, BTW, the ABC Primetime experiment proved that women are more eager to please authority figures than men. In the original experiment, done in the 1960's by Stanley Milgram, some of the test subjects actually (would have) killed the other participant (if it was not a faked experiment). Milgram devised his experiment to find out why the German people were so willing to follow the commands that brought about the Holocaust. He preformed the experiment in the USA to see what "the norm" was before he would test people in Germany. He never got to Germany, because the people of the USA were too willing to torture and kill as long as someone else took the responsibility More Info

What I stated was a plan fair to all people, both citizen and immigrant. The USA needs workers to do menial and labor intensive work. The immigrants need that work and are willing to do it. Win-win. We have no language and no way of life. This is a melting pot. I might like pizza or I might prefer knishes while others may prefer tacos. You don't have to eat Turkey on Thanksgiving to be a good American. English is not the official language of the USA. Maybe we should not have stolen so much of what has become the USA from the Spanish. Then we would not have so many cities and states with non-English names. And most economists say that while short term, it may hurt the economy, long term, it benefits the economy. Win-win. No! Breaking the law is not breaking the law. If it was, the penalty for speeding would be the same as the penalty for murder. Those babies are American citizens. They have the same rights as you or I. Maybe if we let their parents legally work, their taxes would eventually cover the costs. We stop them from paying taxes and then we call them law-breakers for not paying taxes. Lose-Lose ideas.

The capitalistic countries (most notably the USA) take and take and when confronted give and give. They take resources and give bombs. The USA funds many countries that treat its citizens like dirt while trying to destabilize many countries that do not want to cooperate with us in our philosophy of a world controlled by the multinational conglomerates and the governments that benefit from the profits of multinational conglomerates. -

Osama Bin Laden doesn't give a damn about the freedoms that you and I have in the USA. We were attacked on 911 because we have helped the government of Israel treat the Palestinians like second class human beings. We were attacked on 911 because we have helped the government of Saudi Arabia treat the citizens of Saudi Arabia like second class human beings. We were attacked on 911 because we have helped the government of Egypt treat the citizens of Egypt like second class human beings. We were attacked on 911 because we have helped the government of Pakistan treat the citizens of Pakistan like second class human beings. And we were attacked on 911 because we stationed our troops in Saudi Arabia violating Osama Bin Laden's distorted views of the “Holy Qur'an”. Osama Bin Laden had wanted to come to the aid of Kuwait because he considered it an affront for the “infidels” to rescue fellow Muslims from Saddam Hussein's takeover of Kuwait. Osama Bin Laden had no problem allowing the CIA to train him and what eventually became Al-Qaida during the Mujihideen's fight to free Afghanistan from the Soviet Union. George W. BuSh does not care about Democracy. He has propped up many governments that are dictatorial in nature (as have preceding US presidents). He did not help the Democracy in Lebanon, nor the democratically elected government of the Palestinian people this past Summer. George W. BuSh has taken away democracy from the US population under the guise of protecting us from Osama Bin Laden and his ilk. George W. BuSh has caused the death of more Americans with his illegal, illogical invasion of Iraq than Osama Bin Laden caused with his distorted decision to attack the USA on 911. We have much more to be fearful of in the decisions of George W. BuSh than in the decisions of Osama Bin Laden. -
Of course the immigration laws must be changed. We must allow people who have come to our country for a better life and who are working to have a chance at becoming legal citizens. When Thomas Jefferson wrote "all people are created equal", he didn't say, "all people who were lucky enough to be born in the USA are equal". When a person breaks the law by coming to this country illegally and by using a false ID, he has broken the law, but that is different from breaking the law by stealing, raping and killing. Even in the "Old Testament", hungry people were allowed to take food without payment and it was not considered stealing. Any illegal alien who has broken no other laws (but illegal entry and false documentation in order to work) should be allowed to stay. They should learn English, because it is the language most common in this country. They should be given a chance to get legitimate credentials and then to pay taxes. Many have SS cards that belong to someone else, so they and their employers are paying into SS system, but they will never be able to take any of that money out. That is a net plus for the SS fund. It is estimated that it would take $100,000,000,000 (a hundred Billion) to deport all the illegal aliens. That would be a huge drain on our already bankrupt budget, plus it would mean that many businesses would lose many of their customers and many businesses would go bankrupt. In a mid-western town recently, some local town's-people got Uncle Sam to enforce the INS (or is it ICE now?) laws. That promptly caused the local poultry processing plant to close up shop, putting many legal Americans out of jobs and causing a ripple effect ruining the local town's economy as the "out of work" people stopped buying from the local stores to go along with the loss of sales caused by the newly deported people. There is no reason why this immigration issue can not be worked out, except that many people have that “I have mine, you can't have your chance” attitude. I am Italian-American and when my ancestors came here, many were known as WOP's (With Out Papers). Doesn't “With Out Papers” mean here illegally? Yet, I see many Italian-Americans on TV shows stating their opposition to immigration from Mexico and further South. I see many Mexican-Americans on TV shows also stating their opposition to immigration from Mexico. I wonder, “did all of them come here legally”? Could there be some hypocrisy? Many ancestors of todays Americans came here legally and then destroyed the culture that was here before them. They were guilty of murder and land theft, but they were not prosecuted, but rewarded. Let's drop this title “illegal” and get down to helping our fellow human beings. BuSh's program is a good start. However, I would not want to see immigrants tied to one company, because that smacks of indentured servitude.
