Very few Blacks are Black. Most are mixed with white, American Indian, or a myriad of other groups. It is white people that decide that if you are not all white, you must be Black. In many states when I was born, if a person had 15 white great-great-grandparents and one Black great-great-grandparant, that person was Black. In some states, if a person had 7 white great-grandparents and one Black great-grandparant, that person was Black. And in some states, if a person had 3 white grandparents and one Black grandparant, that person was Black. I found out about this because in most of the Southern States, it was against the law for a white man to box with a Black man, but the Black man's race would change from state to state depending on which one of the rules that state followed. So people got into the habit of calling anyone not 100% white as snow: Black.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway, Ilook over at my car and decide my car needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway,I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk, where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I realize the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye; they need to be watered. I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water, and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the driveway is flooded, the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, there is still only one check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled, because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. Do me a favor, will you? All of the examples you gave are medically related reasons for refusal. The issue that is most glaring is the one where a medical professional elects not to follow the rules of the company he is working for and does it for non-medical reasons.

About the forth commandment, Remember the Sabbath day to sanctify it. Six days shall you work and accomplish all your work but the seventh day is Sabbath to the Lord your God…. Does that mean that the fire department must let your home burn down on the sabbath? Does that mean that the US Military personal in Iraq must let terrorists kill and burn down buildings on the sabbath? NO NFL FOOTBALL?

The fifth commandment according to the opening post is Honor your father and your mother and the sixth one is You shall not kill But I remember reading someplace in the Bible that the punishment for not honoring your father and mother is being stoned to death. So, in order to enforce the fifth, we have to break the sixth. I would rather drink the fifth. :eek:

Do you castrate right after the trial or do you wait long enough to find out that the abuse never happened as in the McMartin cases about 20 years ago? There was a case in about 20 years ago, where a rapist chose to be castrated in return for an early release from prison. His next rape victim was found with a soda bottle in her vagina and light bulbs screwed into her breasts. These are not crimes of sex. They are crimes of anger and revenge. The vast majority of pedophiles were sexually abused as children and most often by a family member or friend of the family. Less than 10% of pedophiles ever get convicted, so taking societies anger out on that small group will not make our children appreciably saver. We need to stop teaching our children to be afraid of bogeymen, when it is Daddy, or uncle Bill, or the brother, or clergy who is most likely to be the molester. Most of all, we need screening of all children at a very young age to find out who is holding in that horrible secret which will eat at their soul until they either molest or turn to drugs or some other form of aberrant behavior.

That would vary from plane to plane. On some planes, DC9's and MD80's, for example, the walls on either side of the cockpit are full of electronic components on metal racks. Some people are just plain ignorant. I am 100% Italian as far as I know as is my first cousin. She married a fine Irish gentleman about 35 years ago and they have raised two fine children. The husband's mother still refers to my cousin and her husband as a "Mixed Marriage".

On the same radio show that I originally heard this idea to offer money so that addicts would voluntarily be sterilized discussed, a caller phoned in and suggested a solution to the crime problem that the US was facing. (BTW, this was about 1996, when the crime rate was dropping like a rock.) The caller suggested that any Black male arrested for a violent crime be castrated so that he could not pass on "His known violent Genes". The show's host, Bob Grant, of WABC Radio, saluted the woman for her great idea and said it should be looked into. He said that it was not racist because it was the choice of the person to be a criminal that would bring on the castration. I called the show to ask why a white man who commits a violent crime should not also be castrated and was told that Mr. Grant would not be speaking to me on the air. Of course, I did not actually want white men castrated, nor Blacks, but I was curious: #1. If it was not racist then why only should Black men be castrated? and #2. Isn't this approach going a little too far for a civilized society? The ends do not justify the means. Whether we are discussing protecting children from their parents by sterilization or castrating people to reduce crime.
