Major Pressure Pain
Teacher07 replied to Dorkette_321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you doing any better? I had this pain but it was only for like the first week or so. I would call and check if you haven't already. Better safe than sorry! -
I ate Nachos!! :( I'm 4 weeks post-op
Teacher07 replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hhahah Ahhh a 1/2 a cup of Nachos? Don't sweat it, I am sure people have done WAY worse than a half a cup of Nachos. I once ate a HALF a bag of Chocolate chips after i was banded, now THAT was ridiculous. Just try and get back on track and stay motivated it doesnt pay to beat yourself up over it. You realized you shouldn't have so you won't do it again. That is the first step! -
Is salad a slider food?
Teacher07 replied to pookiemp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to eat lettuce because it is a slider food due to the large amounts of water that lettuce holds. I am also only getting in about 1/2-3/4 cup of food at one time so lettuce would provide me with no nutritional value. I would be better opting for some chicken with a few veggies on it. I have learned to utilize the space my stomach provides. -
WOW! Ask and you shall receive...
Teacher07 replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Holy CRAP~! I have been banded 10 months and I only have 7 cc in my band total! The most Ive had at once is 1.5cc! -
Oh I never had the problem of being cold either. It started after I dropped my first 10lbs and continued through about the 50lb range. It was terrible, cold hands and feet all the time. It did slack off a little but I still have problems with my hands.

Looking to talk to people who may regret getting banded
Teacher07 replied to Carriedaway78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Elfie sometimes it takes more than 6 months to get restriction even with aggressive fills. I would say I had slight restriction for the first 6 months but it wasnt until I was about 10 months out that I had real restriction. You can't go from 1cc in a band to 6cc in a band in a month. Your body and habits need time to adjust to the tightening of the band. -
Dr. Colin Maccoll - Comes highly recommended
Teacher07 replied to BryceWagner's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. MacColl has moved but is still doing sugery once a month at Altru and still comming back to check on his patients. -
If you use the sugar free with protein powder it is around 200 calories and 25 grams protein!
-
Carnation Instant breakfast sugar or sugar free! I usually add in a half of a banana or a scoop or protein powder and I am set until lunch!

Looking to talk to people who may regret getting banded
Teacher07 replied to Carriedaway78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are still really early in the game. You are being hard on yourself, relax and work side by side with the band and it will happen. -
OK my "Tool" is working Too Good.
Teacher07 replied to Mickey527's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mickey I don't think you are too tight either. I would say give it some time before you go in for an unfill. I would also try just liquids for a day or two to make sure you are not just swollen. -
Drinking while eating
Teacher07 replied to pliberati's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My band has 7.5 cc in a 10cc band and I can tell you that I physically can no longer drink with meals because there is no place for it to go. When your pouch is full that water sits on the top and ends up comming right back up. Also, it is painful so eventually you will have no desire to drink while you eat. -
I was banded in February of 09. I lost 50lbs fairly quickly and stopped losing in July. I just went to my fill doc this last monday and literally had a breakdown. I told her I am so scared to fail at this too! So we had a long talk and she gave me a .5cc fill and told me a few other things to try. So I started an aerobics class ( I was scared to death to be the fat girl jumpin around, but it has been great) and I do my exercising at 5am. I know that NO one wants to get up that early but it jump starts my metabolism. The point of my story is that I have lost 7lbs in 5days. WOOT WOOT! So I agree try changing up your routines in one way or another. Best of luck to yoU!

Will I ever eat like a normal person?
Teacher07 replied to dragonflylover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always feel like I am on a diet because you really have to monitor what you eat to make this a successful life change. Also, your portions will be alot smaller but that is what you signed up for. HOWEVER, if I do slip up it has been way easier for me to get back on track. I think it is totally worth it! -
I wouldn't suggesting eating whatever you want before surgery. They want you to lose weight so your liver isn't as enlarged as it probably is now. If the liver is too large they will not do surgery. Just remember ladies, it is SO worth putting down that second helping, or snack food. Good luck to both of you!

I am having the exact same problem right now. I had a .5 cc added yesterday bringing me to 7.5 and suddenly I can't keep anything down except water and I have to take just sips to keep that down. I don't want to go in just yet though because at 7cc I had barely and restriction. Darn I wish this wasn't so hard, I was thinking today, am I going to be uncomfortable like this forever? uhh

Medical and Restaurant Cards?
Teacher07 replied to Curlycat3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woops I didn't read your post close enough. It has my name, the name of my doctor and gives a short description of why I would be able to receive a reduced price. -
Medical and Restaurant Cards?
Teacher07 replied to Curlycat3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I received my card from my doctor. I think that is the only place you can get them so I would call and have them look into it a little more. -
Fabulous February Bandsters Unite!
Teacher07 replied to tdteach99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Feb 4th and have lost just over 60lbs. However, I have been stuck at the same weight for the last 3 months. I know I have been cheating, I just need to sit down and figure out what I have been doing to cheat because I dont think I even realize that I am cheating:( -
I think it was about 4 months in that I started losing my hair. My sinks and floors were full of it and I have black hair so it was very noticable everywhere. It finally stopped after about 3 months and is now growing back in very nicely. Try and be patient.

Teacher07 replied to lisette1079's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not sure where you are in Minnesota but there is a great Bariatric center in Grand Forks ND that is right on the Minnesota boarder. www.altru.org I recommend Dr. Hape and Shellie wright very highly! -

Different restriction every meal!
Teacher07 replied to LaDawnS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem but normally it is with my breakfast and lunch that I have issues getting food in. Usually by supper I could virtually eat anything i wanted to.
